    This is why we cooperate with the health authorities and close down the churches for a short while. This is not a scheme to destroy religion. https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2020-03-29/coronavirus-choir-outbreak

    COVID-19

    I am no fan of the current White House tenant, although I do find him immensely entertaining. I'm not a Unitedstatesian so I do try to avoid opinions on US domestic politics, but I do note that in most elections in most countries there are usually 2 reasonable contenders for high office. In many countries a vote for a non-contending 3rd party can be meaningful as such 3rd (or 4th or 5th, etc.) parties have influence in the legislature. But in the US this option is largely illusory. So the choice in November 2016 was between 2 immoral, fallible human beings with different styles, approaches, qualities, faults, etc. One would do well to ponder the wisdom of Alexandr Solzhenitsyn from The Gulag Archipelago "If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?" This statement coincides with Jesus' view expressed in Luke 18:19, and St. Paul's numerous references to his own depravity. Given the choices available to United States citizens in 2016 it is not reasonable to proclaim that Adventists must have perforce preferred one of the options to the other. Now many would like to split the SDA church in the United States along political lines, with one side supporting Trump, Doug Batchelor, male headship, and the oil industry and the other supporting an unnamed Democrat, Dan Jackson, Sandra Roberts, Women's ordination and environmental consciousness. A handful on both sides think the church isn't big enough for everyone. Why support for Trump and views on climate science should correlate with support for male headship, and why opposite views on such unrelated issues similarly correlate, is a mystery. I suspect such correlation is related to the need of some folks to have an identity. A handful from the Trump/male headship/no climate change gang shared the view up to about a week ago that the covid-19 measures were excessive (they usually refer to it as the Wuhan virus or the China virus to identify themselves as an acolyte of the president). Again, why views on the virus ought to correlate with one's views on taxation or abortion has no explanation other than the need to belong to a group. Fortunately, many people on both sides of the USA political divide have lined up to support the public health measures implemented to combat the spread of covid-19 and correctly see that (a) it is not a left/right issue; (b) it is not a state power grad; (c) it is not a "test-run" on state control for the dreaded "Sunday Law" that some still think is coming; (d) it is not an attack on the church. First of all I did not trash out his character, I told what I have said from the beginning. HE IS IMMORAL, A LIAR, NARCISSIST. That's the truth and parties hatred is his your problem. You will not see the truth about this man who I did not call by name, if he killed someone. He said that too! That's not trashing if you know for a fact that he did the things he did! He said it, both of his lawyers said it and he paid one woman and the Enquiry paid the other! I did not trash him when it was said that you all believe he was sent by YAHWEH. I read it here and I heard on Fox News! Since the virus he has been even worse. The problem with you is you are worshipping this man and you all know he lies and he is immoral and thinks only of himself. You can post all of the pictures you want he is what he is! Your poster is untrue to because I don't hate him! I do not hate anyone. I do not like his ways and you and all the posters you put up will not change that. To tell the true I pity him because he is pitiful and it is sad what he does! Peace!

    I find that in my Bible, trashing some one and carrying out character assassination to also be a very immoral act. I think you really need to find another news source to get your information from and perhaps some of your hatred will be relieved. You can carry on about the president's immorality, but say nothing about the other candidate for president who will molest little girls on camera and he is now the presumptive Demorat candidate for president! So, I think you really need to rethink your hatred.

    Ye Shall Receive Power

    Hands Toward Heaven Because of Israel's disobedience and departure from God, they were allowed to be brought into close places and to suffer adversity; their enemies were permitted to make war with them, to humble them and lead them to seek God in their trouble and distress. . . . When Israel was assailed by the Amalekites, Moses gave Joshua directions to fight with their enemies. Moses and Aaron and Hur were stationed on a hill overlooking the battlefield. With arms outstretched toward heaven, and holding the rod of God in his right hand, Moses prayed for the success of the armies of Israel. As the battle progressed, it was observed that so long as his hands were reaching upward, Israel prevailed, but when they were lowered, the enemy was victorious. As Moses became weary, Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands until the going down of the sun, when the enemy was put to flight. As Aaron and Hur supported the hands of Moses, they showed the people their duty to sustain him in his arduous work while he should receive the word from God to speak to them. And the act of Moses also was significant, showing that God held their destiny in His hands; while they made Him their trust, He would fight for them and subdue their enemies; but when they should let go their hold upon Him, and trust in their own power, they would be even weaker than those who had not the knowledge of God, and their foes would prevail against them. As the Hebrews triumphed when Moses was reaching his hands toward heaven and interceding in their behalf, so the Israel of God prevail when they by faith take hold upon the strength of their mighty Helper. Yet divine strength is to be combined with human effort. Moses did not believe that God would overcome their foes while Israel remained inactive. While the great leader was pleading with the Lord, Joshua and his brave followers were putting forth their utmost efforts to repulse the enemies of Israel and of God. {taken from Conflict & Courage}

    Trivia

    5 Surprising Presidential Firsts You Never Knew About On March 29, 1929, President Herbert Hoover had a phone installed at his desk in the Oval Office of the White House. Here are 5 presidential milestones that you may not have read about in history books... Herbert Hoover Was The First President With a Phone in His Office The first telephone in the White House dates all the way back to Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th president, who installed one in the White House’s “telegraph room” in 1877. Herbert Hoover, however, was the first president to have one installed in the Oval Office, which he did on this day in 1929. Hoover had already been using a phone just outside the office, so it did make sense to take that next step. William Howard Taft Was The First President to Own a Car A year after the introduction of the Model T Ford in 1908, Congress authorized $12,000 so that the 27th president, William Howard Taft, could have two motor cars at the White House. Though the president was on board with the new car craze, many members of the populace still saw cars as just a fad, and Congress’s decision wasn’t a popular one. William Henry Harrison Was First to Be Photographed While in Office William Henry Harrison had a daguerreotype taken of himself after he was sworn into office in 1841, and this was the first instance of a president being photographed. The original has been lost, but one copy still survives and is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A photo of James K. Polk, the 11th president, is the oldest surviving image that was taken while he was in office. Gerald Ford Was The First President to Appear on Saturday Night Live Many presidents and presidential candidates have appeared on Saturday Night Live, but most of them appeared only during the candidate stage or after they had left office. However, Republican Gerald Ford has the honor of being both the first President ever impersonated on Saturday Night Live and also the first to appear on the show. Ford appeared on the show to deliver the signature "Live from New York" line in April 1976. Richard M. Nixon Was The First President to Visit All 50 States Resigning wasn’t the only thing Richard M. Nixon was first at! The 37th president would be the first one to visit all 50 states before leaving office. Nixon visited his 50th state, Delaware, in 1971 for a meeting with Republican fundraisers. Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama would follow his example (visiting every state, that is).

    COVID-19

    We are at war with an invisible enemy. We have been invaded. In WWII, the great generation was asked to sacrifice by leaving their homes and families to go overseas and kill people or be killed or maimed. We have it comparatively easy. We are being asked to fight this war by sitting at home alone on our couches binge-watching TV and talking to people over the phone or FaceBook (or AS). I'd rather be doing that than shooting at others and being shot at.

    The video on the Netherlands was very interesting! But the video on BC, I didn't see where it said anything about seniors, but it seems like there doing a great job as well in controlling the virus like the other countries have been doing!! Thanks for these links!!
