5 Things You Didn't Know About Florence Nightingale On May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, was born in Florence, Italy. More than 100 years after her death, she is still well known for her reforms that shaped the nursing profession. Here are 5 heroic facts you probably didn’t know about Florence Nightingale... Her Birthday is Also International Nurses Day We remember the extraordinary contributions by remembering Florence Nightingale on her birthday, which is the same day that we celebrate International Nurses Day: May 12. Florence was born in 1820 in Florence, Italy, and died on August 13, 1910, at her home in London. Her Nickname is “Lady With The Lamp” Florence Nightingale came to prominence while managing nurses she had trained, and tenderly nursing wounded soldiers, during the Crimean War. At the time, there were no women working as nurses in the hospitals in Crimea, but that changed when Florence arrived with her newly formed group of nurses. An article in 1855 appeared about Nightingale in The London Times, which referred to her as a ministering angel. As the article continued, it said she was often seen alone checking on the patients and carrying a small lamp. Her nickname after that became “Lady with the Lamp.” She is Considered The Founder of Modern Nursing During the Crimean War, Florence was concerned that some of the soldiers in the field hospitals near the battlefields seemed more likely to succumb to infectious disease than their war wounds. She proposed solutions such as improving sanitation, which are considered effectively the foundation of modern nursing. She also advocated for nursing education to elevate the profession’s reputation, which in turn enabled more women to enter the nursing profession. She Inspired a Famous Poem The great poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a poem titled “Santa Filomena” in which a wounded man in a field hospital sees a “lady with a lamp.” He imagined that her lovely vision would live on throughout history as “A noble type of good/heroic womanhood.” Nightingale Helped Popularize the Use of Pie Charts Florence Nightingale was also regarded as one of the most prominent statisticians in history and a pioneer in using statistics to influence social change. She used her passion for statistics to save lives of soldiers during the Crimean war, and do groundbreaking work in data visualization that continues to be influential to this day. Although pie charts had been around long before the birth of Nightingale, she promoted their use and used them regularly to illustrate her points. Thousands of lives were saved through her facts and figures and the unique ways she developed to display them graphically.1 point -

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Bob Marley_2 On May 11, 1981, Reggae star Bob Marley died at the age of 36, leaving a musical legacy that remains popular still today. Get your reggae on with these 5 facts you probably didn’t know about Bob Marley... His First Name Was Nesta The famous Reggae singer was named Nesta Robert Marley by his mother when he was born in 1945 in Jamaica. Apparently people thought Nesta sounded more like a girl’s name, so he used his middle name. As a teen, Marley grew up in Trench Town in Kingston, where his nickname was “Tuff Gong.” Marley Died From Cancer That Started in His Toe Marley died at age 36 from a rare form of cancer called acral melanoma that began under his toenail. Acral melanoma forms on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet or under a nail and is not caused by sun exposure. Although he was advised to have the toe removed, he refused, and the cancer spread quickly, reaching his lungs, brain and other parts of his body. Marley was Rastafarian and cited his religious beliefs as the reason he refused the amputation, and by the time he sought medical treatment, it was too late. A Jamaican Soup Kitchen Receives All the Royalties From One of Marley’s Songs Marley attributed the song “No Woman No Cry” to an old friend Vincent Ford, even though Ford was neither a musician nor a songwriter. In Trenchtown, where Marley lived, Ford operated a soup kitchen for the needy, and the royalties from the song were meant to fund the soup kitchen and keep it going. Rolling Stone listed “No Woman No Cry” as number 37 on their 'Top 500 Songs of All Time' list. The "Is This Love" Video Features a Very Young Naomi Campbell. The video was shot at the Keskidee Community Centre, a black arts center in London in 1978. It shows him singing and playing with kids recruited from various stage schools, including a young Naomi Campbell, the future supermodel. "I was just seven, and didn't know what it would involve. I didn't realize Bob Marley would be standing right next to me, tucking me under a blanket. He was the most handsome man, with beautiful bone structure; mellow, too, and soft-spoken, with a strong Jamaican accent," she said. An Attempt Was Made on Marley’s Life Marley had been warned to not perform in Jamaica because of the political corruption of the times. Marley’s wife was wounded outside of their home as she was leaving in her car, then at least three persons entered Marley’s house and sprayed it with gunfire. Marley and his manager were wounded, but it didn’t deter Marley from performing several days later.1 point -
(moved to new thread) Persecution within the church

Greetings B/W Photodude, From an outsider’s point of view, or perhaps from the view of my environment, I was very surprised when I attended the Daniel Seminar series at one SDA Church. On the first evening the Pastor presented Daniel 1, and on the second evening his wife, who was co-Pastor presented Daniel 2. Years later I attended another evening when a young lady presented an evening on the Prophetic Code series. On both occasions the ladies did a reasonable job. In our fellowship we do not have our sisters speaking, but they are very proficient at Sunday School and other activities. Kind regards Trevor1 point -

It is not supposed to answer all questions. It is to get people to think. Revelation 6:1-6 Next I watched as the Lamb broke the first of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living beings say in a thundering voice, “Go!” 2 I looked, and there in front of me was a white horse; its rider had a bow and was given a crown; and he rode off as a conqueror to conquer. 3 When he broke the second seal, I heard the second living being say, “Go!” 4 Another horse went out, a red one; and its rider was given the power to take peace away from the earth and make people slaughter each other. He was given a great sword. 5 When he broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, “Go!” I looked, and there in front of me was a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living beings say, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages! Six pounds of barley for the same price! But don’t damage the oil or the wine!” Revelation is sketchy, a sketch done by a 1st century human living in the last 7 years of the church age. Covid19, a small army of white bodied agents with red crowns. The bow is the big curves that all governments want to flatten. That is how a 1st century human watching it on TV explains to a 1st century reader. Those red spots, ground zero all over the map. They brought the world to a stand still. There is still tentative peace. But every spot is a boiling pot of hot emotions. Government against the citizens. Citizens rising up against the government. Nation blaming nation. All thus working together to produce a very volatile economy. No one working, money running out, but do not hurt the oil and the wine. Gas and alcohol to remain available. The third seal overlapping but not fully felt yet. Then the 4th seal. We can only live the map of Revelation and prepare for the next step. If we get taken to heaven in a step, well that is it. All will know, but perhaps still being in the dark, understanding wise. Yes John outlined his sermon like every good preacher, by using a different colored horse to make his sermon tidy and understandable. God’s time table has less than 3 years to go, and then Daniel's 70th week of days. Yes the Second Coming is a Sunday to Sunday process, sorry. The Sabbath at the end will wrap up the seven vials. And there is a split in the week. On Wednesday God is going to cut the week in half, and Satan will get 3.5 years to prove he is a failure. Yes, it is sketchy. No one has all the answers except John, the beloved disciple. He started to write the Thunderings, and was told to seal them up until God wanted them to be revealed. Yes, John lived until the very end. He did go back and delivered the letters to the 7 churches. And wrote the end of the book finishing the canon of the NT and the whole Bible. Of course history was written to favor the whore's version of all events. Satan has deceived all of us. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the truth to those who can be patient and not object to every point. One can still be prepared on Faith alone and not by sight. But now is time to be continuously prepared.0 points
