Trivial Prayers and the Silence of God When It Matters

The Bible tells us that our God is a God of love (John 3:16; 1 John 4:8, etc.). He is more willing to give good gifts to His “children” than even the most loving earthly father is (Matt 7:7-11). To put it in other words, God enjoys showering His beloved ones with little gifts. Just […] The post Trivial Prayers and the Silence of God When It Matters appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. ✨?✨Promise Robe of righteousness Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord , my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

    Justice Amy C. Barrett

I have to confess being uncomfortable with her. I don't know if she knows the difference between being a Catholic supporter of Donald Trump supreme court justice, and being a United States of America Supreme Court Justice who happens to have been named to the court by Trump and a member of the Catholic church. And I'm uncomfortable about the lack of response by some of our members as pointed out in this article. It makes me worry that they are seeing conservative Christianity and headship theology as the seal of God and other forms of Christianity the mark of the beast. One month this summer my TV had a free month of the Smithsonian Channel. One of their programs was flyovers of different states. The one on Maryland had something that I found very eye-opening. They showed the first settlement of Maryland, that started out as a Catholic state. Yet, they had something surprisingly American: The first settlement had the government buildings on one side of town and the church (Catholic of course) on the complete opposite side of town. Good for them!!! I wish that people going into Politics and public service would read what Roger Williams and William Penn said about religious freedom, and Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. And, not in a anti-Catholic way, but looking for the principles of liberty of conscience vs. state supported religion in Mrs. White's writings, and what John Kennedy said about the difference between being a Catholic President of the United States, and a President of the United States who happened to be a Catholic. And a visit to that first settlement of Maryland would also be useful. I'm glad that we publish "Liberty" that many of those in public office get a subscription to. Sadly, we are in danger of loosing this heritage. Too often we are finding people in politics who are either trying to push the religions of conservative Christianity and others pushing the religion of secular humanism. As I understand Williams, Penn, Jefferson, Madison, White and Kennedy is that the US should be an open market place for religion and people choose what makes sense to them. Sometimes you hear Catholic bishops demanding their politicians to push religious laws or that they should not be able to receive the emblems. We need to hold on to our heritage of true freedom of religion. The above listed sources must not be forgotten. Let us pray for justice Barrett. I'm just scared at her background and that President Trump was looking for a justice that would use her position to push her religious views and side with President Trump. But hopefully she will at least read "Liberty" and learn the difference between a Catholic, Donald Trump supporter Supreme Court Justice and a Supreme Court Justice who happens to be a Catholic and happened to have been named to the court by Donald Trump.

    Who's fooling who?

So let me get this straight: If you don't believe the March (?) prophecy will be fulfilled my Pence or Pompeo, you are gonna be lost? If you love the Lord and do His will, you are gonna be saved. Just believing something doesn't save you. If you think the time is that close, you better be witnessing righteousness by faith to others. I would think the Lord would be kinda upset that you just spend time try to correct your fellow Adventists.

Biden Pledges to Gut Religious Freedom Protections

The website that Photodude cited raised multiple issues and some very valid questions that are important and should be addressed. I do not have the time or space in this forum to address every question. So, I will simply state a couple of responses which will not address most of the issues raised in that website. 1) If you take Federal tax funds, you submit to some levels of Federal control. Recently a SDA organization fired an employee. It is alleged that the SDA organization has received some $1,700,00 of Federal money from one source and additional Federal money from another source. Common sense tells us that accepting such amounts of Federal money should involve a requirement to operate under some level of Federal control. I happen to believe that in this case firing that employee may have been legal. But, I do not consider it to be a violation of religious rights for an organization that accepted that amount of Federal money to be subject to Federal oversight of their operation. 2) Citizens in the United States are entitled to equal application of the law. Government agents who administer the law should not be allowed to discriminate in the application of the law. As an example, a clerk who gives a marriage license to a couple legally entitled to receive one should not be allowed to refuse to issue such to a couple based upon the religious beliefs of that clerk. A person who has religious objections to such should not take that position. 3) A person engaged offering services to the public at large, should not be allowed to discriminate in the provision of those services. This may require a balance. Under current law, a baker who sells cakes, must sell to all. But, that baker is not required to decorate in any manner requested by the person purchasing that cake. In another example, If I want to rent out a room in my home, I can discriminate in any manner that I want as to who I rent that room to. However, If I own an apartment building, I can not discriminate as to whom I rent an apartment to.
