Christmas Trees
Gustave and one other reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Much of our daily life can be associated with paganism. * We worship on Saturday, a day dedicated to a pagan god. * In fact, every day of the week is associated with a pagan god. * In the month of August we were reminded of a Roman god, as we were in other months. * There are many aspects of our normal religious life that were associated with paganism. The fundamental issue is not what some person may have thought of something 4,000 years ago. It is how we consider it today. * Easter while not exact, is very close to the actual death and resurrection of Christ. * Easter, as celebrated in the Christian community is thoroughly Christian, it is not pagan. * Christians do not in any manner use a tree as did pagans. * NOTE: I mentioned a Chrismon Tree. Do you know anything about it?2 points -

Christmas Trees
phkrause reacted to stinsonmarri for a topic
Pastor Matthew: At one time I love Christmas and I would have a tree cut out from the woods. Uncle Mike would bring me one each year. My mother was never interested in the tree. I was carrying my son and Christmas was over. I love the SDA Bible Commentary and I had volume 5 down. I was looking to go and study on Daniel which is what I normally do. However, I was flipping and Jeremiah open to Chapter 10 and I started to keep on flipping. But something told me to stop and read the Chapter: Hear ye the word which YAHWEH speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith YAHWEH, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of Heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Jer 10:1-5 (WOY) Now, Pastor: I grew up knowing and studying all of EGW writings. I in Message to Young People she wrote about putting money on the tree. We did not have wreaths on the door back them just the Christmas Plants. Yes we song THE MESSIAH but my mother did not go out the way on Christmas. I did, I decorated the tree and boy I enjoyed it. It all change when I read those verses above. I immediately went out to the library and go the book the holidays. Little did I know that the word holiday actually was holy day. Then to my amazement it told the truth about Christmas and the tree exactly what Jeremiah was saying. It was pagan! I learn about all of the holidays were pagan. I from that day on changed. My son and I never celebrated Christmas. I ask my mother why she never celebrated Christmas? She told me that she was taught Santa Clause was real. She decided sneak and see Santa Clause eating the cookies she made. To her surprise it was her father. She was so hurt because her parents was strict about lying and the lied to her. That changed her about Christmas. Now, I know people have got heated about Christmas and the tree but we must tell the truth. EGW said herself if they gave error and she is found to be wrong; stand for truth! I have and will. I cannot make anyone accept this. Only THE HOLY SPIRIT can lead people to accept the truth. I must provide it every opportunity that I have. I do and leave it in HIS HANDS! That's my story and that's the truth! I will be 71 on the 15th of December! Blessings!1 point -

I don't have a dog in this fight but if I did my first question would be if he was gay. If he was it would appear to add weight to what B/W Photodude said if that kind of thing was common place. As GHansen said there isn't a provision for validating same sex sexual activity in Sacred Scripture (its also not found in Sacred Tradition). Back at the now defunct CA Forums I got into a debate with a Anglican who was gay that claimed he could do anything sexually to his "partner" that a woman could do for a man IN A CAR, IN THE CHURCH PARKING LOT and after doing so waltz into Church and eat a pound of the Eucharist and it would transmit as much Grace as it would to a husband and wife man and woman - he went so far as to say the Pastor giving the Eucharist could be openly gay and validly consecrate the gifts! once Kinship International spools up it will likely take the same path as the Anglican variant. I'm not saying it will but that it's just likely. This is generally what happens. And for the record I'm not saying my sins are worse than the most aggressive buggerite - I stand just as guilty of falling short.1 point -
What If Jesus Had Never Been Born? Jesus and Health Care II (What If– 14)

As was the case with science and research, the basic insights and structures that make modern medicine possible were birthed in a context of Jesus’ followers and influence. Since the story is not widely known, let me review a few key examples. The world’s first vaccine (for smallpox) was invented by Edward Jenner (1749-1823). Annual Council
phkrause reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
One of the more important meetings of the SDA denomination, the so-called Annual Council, began yesterday, October 7 and ends on October 13. Due to COVID issues, this meeting is a hybrid type in which the majority of the people, who would normally attend in person, will participate by digital means. Only a few people will actually attend in person. One important function of this meeting is that it identifies many of the items that will be considered at the next General Conference session. I commend the General Conference for the transparency that it shows by releasing to the public, the Agenda of Annual Council. The agenda for this meeting runs 104 pages in length and it may be accessed at: https://executivecommittee.adventist.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/21AC-Agenda.pdf I have not had the time to review the agenda in depth. But, I understand from others who have reviewed it in depth that its general tone is to strengthen the level of compliance by lower level organizations with the policies of the higher levels of the organization. Yes, I assume that there is probably much that deals with small stuff and does not actually impact on compliance. Yet I can imagine that it likely deals with control and compliance. In my understanding of final events, I see individual members and congregations as being required to operate indecently without any support from higher levels of organizational structure. From this perspective, I consider that the primary function of higher levels of SDA structure should be to prepare those individual members and congregations to operate independently while successfully fulfill the role and mission that God has given to them in End Time. That I believe should be now. My surface review of the 104 page Agenda results in my asking if this important meeting will actually accomplish what needs to be done to prepare our members and congregations to fulfill the role and ministry that will be needed in the final days of this Earth.1 point -

So what did was answer your question and that it! Prayer is Needed!1 point -
Former Adventist Review Editor Becomes Director at Homosexual Organization

It matters if you object to, for example, sharing the eucharist with recalcitrant homosexuals, or letting them work with impressionable youth, or any number of other activities associated with the body of Christ. It's not especially unusual for men who have been married to women and have children to become "gay." I can recall at least 7 gay men who were, at one time, married to women. Some had children. I spent about 5 years working with gay AIDS patients, off and on. Sometimes mostly on. I was tested twice due to possible occupational exposure; nevertheless, some SDA gay partisans refer to me as a homophobe because I don't and won't validate homosexual behavior for Christians. "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman" is fairly clear.1 point -

Stinsonmarri said.... Listen very carefully Photodude: You will not accept anything I say about Trump. I get that! I stated what I felt is right base on my faith and belief. I can only pray that you will see that Trump is not what you think he is. I am a created being like you. Only THE HOLY SPIRIT can lead all of us into truth! There is more and more coming out what he did. That invasion of the Congress building was plan. He told them to do it that is why there is an hearing. I cannot convince you and I am not going to try. The above is so typical. What is it you think that those that voted for Trump think he is? You have used words like cult, worship etc. I remember you have a rather cult like statement to Biden when you said "He has done nothing wrong". You keep chewing on Trump and making statements you cannot possibly back up. Unless you are making this up as you go along you have valuable information congress would probably want. I am quite sure they would be delighted to have proof of this plan and Trump telling them to do it. There is more and more coming out what he did. That invasion of the Congress building was plan. He told them to do it that is why there is an hearing. I cannot convince you and I am not going to try. I Probably am the only person in the US that was not aware of what was going on on Jan 6th. I didnt see any of it. But am a little skeptical on some of the claims. It certainly could be accurate but again with the whoppers that keep coming I would not take that as fact to the bank. Besides as massive as Trump's rallies were, never a hit of violence or rowdiness. It is the left that rioted all last year. BLM trashed MPLs to the tune of billions of dollars and our soon to be VP was making arrangements to raise money to bail the thugs out of jail. Whatever started it, those involved, it should never have happened. Thousands and thousands of unvaccinated are being sent throughout the US compliments of Biden. No vaccinations, no social distancing, no masks, US Taxpayer money ,US education yet people are hysterical over US Citizens unvaccinated. Let me ask you as you have so much knowledge. Is there any possibility the unvaxxed are right in their reservations considering side effects down the road. I don't know of anyone else that could answer that. Remember thalidomide, perfectly safe and then the babies? REmember very recently Zantac, how long it has had approval and on the market, now all of a sudden find out that isnt so either? But the condemnation of the unvaxxed from you must surely be based fact They have lost several hundred unvaccinated Afghani's. Just walked away from the base they were on.1 point -

I dont disagree with that. But when an effort is made to even the score from 1865 -1980's by it's our turn now it is never ending. And it's done to a large number of people not in the least responsible. Watching Mpls burn by BLM thugs and others I understand those very well that have lost all sympathy for the whine of racism. The poor people that lost all ,struggling minorities that had done nothing but pour their heart and soul into taking care of their families. As long as we keep trying to even the score it gets worse.Maybe j stead of trying to get even maybe pour that energy into productive improvement.1 point
