HD, The word "vow" has a certain connotation which, regarding religious beliefs, seems negative. My recollection is that the baptismal certificate given in the mid 80s didn't even have the word "vow" on it. Perhaps they differed from place to place. An affirmation of belief is not a vow. RCs entering religious orders take "vows." Traditionally, poverty, chastity, and obedience were among those vows. My personal opinion is that religious vows are a form of legalism, an extreme form. People who take vows are binding themselves to a human construct, something they might imagine will make them better in God's sight. Actually, vows might make a person worse. If I affirm the belief that Jesus died for my sins and rose again, that's not a vow, which dictionaries define as a "solemn pledge." It's a confession of faith.

    Biblical Interpretation

“One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.” Fundamental Beliefs, 18 (from Seventh-day Adventists Believe..., p. 247 "They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.” I don't see anything there about her interpreting Scripture. I would agree that her guidance in areas such as health, education and other areas of Christian living are a blessing.

The original article had to do with interpreting the Bible. Ellen G. White is not the Bible; consequently, there is no reason her name should come up in an article on Bible interpretation. Elon Everts, James White, John Andrews, Uriah Smith, probably others all wrote about the Investigative Judgment years before EGW did. Apparently, she endorsed it but it was not originally from her. People may say that SDA doctrines came from EGW but they did not. I'm not sure that a single doctrine originated with EGW. If you know of one, please share it. The things she wrote about health, especially diet are suggested by Scripture; however, one of her earliest works on the subject of health plainly states that the volume (How to Live) included health recommendations form other health care professionals
