NASA’s Webb Telescope Snaps Insane Photo of Dust Rings Around Nearby Star You’d be mistaken to think an artist drew up the picture you see above. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope snapped a photo of a young star called Fomalhaut—and it managed to spot the extraordinary backdrop of a set of glowing dust belts surrounding a nearby young star. The findings were published Monday in Nature Astronomy. https://www.thedailybeast.com/nasas-webb-telescope-snaps-insane-photo-of-dust-rings-around-nearby-star-fomalhaut?

    Nostalgia

Nostalgia is the opposite of resentment. While resentment can make us bitter and cold, nostalgia has actually been shown to reduce stress and act against depression and anxiety. Some psychologists believe that reflecting on positive life experiences is especially beneficial to those that have experienced childhood trauma. This is consistent with the Apostle Paul's advice to the Philippians. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8). Nostalgia provides a greater sense of meaning in life for many people. Some therapists that use narrative therapy coach their clients how to use nostalgic moments of their past to shape a positive self-image. Our memories are not perfect. We do not want to make up good memories that never existed but we can learn how to move past bad memories while hanging on to the good memories and even allowing those good memories to serve to benefit us in the present.

    Experimental Diversity!!! What's That?

I think you might mean experiential diversity. The diversity of having new experiences, versus new experiments. Great ideas, good thoughts! I wonder also how we as Christians can help others to have those new experiences: especially those that may have been affected so deeply by the past 3 years of staying at home, keeping themselves distanced from the virus. Many of our elderly family members and friends have lost friends and loved ones to the virus. The ones who remain are seeking new experiences and new friendships--a great opportunity for those in the church to invite their neighbors to join a community of believers! Maybe some organized day trips to local parks or community events. Walking together, providing safety in numbers. Small social gatherings in homes (for dinner and a movie). For younger, more able individuals: bicycling days, pickleball tournaments, swimming? I do think getting involved in new church activities is a great idea for one's own mental health! And rotating roles might even spark a newfound skill! Good thoughts, Dr Shane!

  4. Gustave: I have not problem with what you have cited. On the surface it seems that you and the SDA Chruch agree. None of that has anything to do with the cited article. No military chaplain is required to provide a sacramental service to any person. I have refused to perform the marriage as both a U.S. Army chaplain and as a VA chaplain. My response when questioned about such was that I was not required to give a reason. As a SDA chaplain, it was my decision as to how I would relate to requests for chaplain ministry. NOTE: In my total ministry as an Army chaplain, both active and reserve, I was questioned as to my refusal once. I was questioned once as a VA chaplain. My freedom to decide was established and generally understood. That freedom exists for all Federal chaplains, including Catholics.

  5. The phrase "430 Bible study contacts," is not defined. It is open to question. In the past, the mass distribution of The Great Controversy has been ineffective. I documented a case which I as recall it cost into 6-figures and resulted in one baptism. In any case, several examples have had no known baptisms result. We have much better methods of spending money given for evangelism. I wonder why we think that the general public will read a book that they will not purchase, in this television age. Let those who will purchase it do so.
