The Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) has been posthumously awarded to Waverly Woodson, who died in 2005. The DSC is the 2nd highest U. S. Army award for valor. Each year more than 600,000 people die from more than 100 types and subtypes of cancer. Only four of these types (lung, breast, colorectal and cervical) have approved screening tests. Current research is working on two MCDE tests that will each be able to detect the other types of cancer. The following tests are in the most advanced stage of development. The Galleri test: is most fully developed. The FDA has granted it "breakthrough device:" status, which allows it to be sold upon a prescription by your physician. Further development is taking place. Multiple clinical trials are being conducted on this test. NOTE: At this time, it should not be considered a replacement for standard screening tests, if such are available. The Cancer Guard test: Is not yet, at the time the basic article was written, approved by the FDA. The One Test: is programmed to detect a much smaller number of cancers.
