Congregatlional Pastors: In general, SDA pastors are centrally paid by a Conference and not by the congregation that they serve. In recent times, this has somewhat changed with local congregations in the U. S. hiring a locally paid person who may pastor along with the Conference pastor. The Oregon Conference has recently undergone major financial stress which has resulted in reductions in pastoral staff.
