1) Ellen White often had to fight tor what she advised to be done administratively. In actual fact, top administrators exiled her to Australia for several years as they were tired of her telling them what to do.
2) Ther are a lot people who do not understand how a denomination who accepts Ellen White in a leadership role, can fail to ordain women. It just does not make good sense. In addition, Ellen White was issued, for multiple years, the credentials of an ordained minister. Those who do not wish to have women in the role of clergy make all kinds of nonsensical comments in an attempt to explain this.
3) While the exact date has slipped my mind, for a moment, following her death there is a point in time when SDA leadership began to treat her writings as having more authority than she ever did during her life.
4) My personal position: God used Ellen White to provide the beginning SDA denomination with administrative advice and to encourage its members to rely on the Bible as the foundation for our spiritual life. God did not use Ellen White to supplant the Bible. At all times, the Bible is the final source of spiritual authority.
