A principle that is fundamental to Christianity and many other religions and codes of ethics is "treat others as you wish to be treated." This seems to be a good basis for not starting fights or wars, yet many wars have been waged over religious disputes. Often, it seems, these wars have been to impose one set of beliefs on people who believe something different or to resist such imposition. Rather often, the differences are just cultural. Sometimes religious differences are merely used as a way of motivating people to coalesce into a fighting force to promote power or gain territory. When my country (USA) asked me (TOLD me) to serve in the military, I agreed to do so--although I really had no choice. As an SDA, however, I was able to assert my status as an objector to war as a means of solving problems. So, I trained and served as a medic. I was fortunate not to have to participate in combat, although I would have done so if that had been my assignment. Instead, I simply worked on a surgical and intensive care ward in a functioning military hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. More than 60 years later, I still object to violence as a means of solving disputes, but I am aware that violence is sometimes an essential response to counter unacceptable actions of others.

I can remember the jest of it, that mostly they agreed that the women working there and having the same jobs as the men should be getting paid there worth. Like if the man is being paid 5 dollars and the woman, if she had worked the same amount of time, had the same credentials, etc., should also be paid 5 dollars!! As far as the outcome? I don't really recall, all I know is that we're still complaining about unequal pay!!!!!

He was 31. Kirk, a father of two, was shot as he was speaking to students at an event for Turning Point USA, an organization for young conservatives he co-founded in 2012. "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," President Trump wrote. "No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us." According to video shared on social media, an audience member asked Kirk about mass shootings in the U.S. before Kirk was hit in the neck and slumped in his chair. Two eyewitnesses told CBS News a large volume of blood poured from his neck. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The gunman is apparently still at large, and a search is underway, three sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News. Mr. Trump, who survived an assassination attempt at an outdoor political event last year, told the New York Post, "He was a very, very good friend of mine and he was a tremendous person." Democrats and Republicans alike expressed their outrage, prayers and concern on social media upon news of the shooting. Kirk, a close Trump ally, helped boost the president's support with young conservatives during his 2016 campaign. Kirk stood by the president during what could be described as his political winter, soon after he announced his second presidential campaign, when skeptics doubted he could become president again. Kirk also made it his mission to engage more young people in politics, and register them to vote. Kirk was also a close friend of the president's son, Donald Trump, Jr.
