German Adventists: As a result of the background of support for the German military, German Adventists often (Always?) will not allow any person to remain or become a member who is associated with the military. U.S. military personnel are not welcome to attend German services due to this. I once met a German Army Officer who was dumbfounded to learn that I was a SDA Chaplain. He was married to a SDA member. He could not become a member due to the fact that he was a member of the German Army. NOTE: I met him, one Sabbath, in a SDA Church in the US, when he was here on a mission.

In my opinion, the story of Adventism in Germany during the time of Hitler needs substantial research . There was a time when I promoted specific views on this. I have been told by people more knowledgeable than I that certain of my conclusions can not be substantiated So, I generally, remain quiet. I simply say in brief: It is clear that certain SDA administrators urged members to support Hitler and the German military. What is not clear, is some of that background.
