    CA Moderation

For informational purposes, I am posting my approach to moderation as to posts that other people make: * I almost never make a change in what a person has posted. On rare occasions I correct a typo that is clearly a major error, and I may notify the author that I did so. * I generally edit in the following three areas: Civil: Debate the issue and do not attack the person. Porn: This is not a place to post photos of people not wearing clothing, as has been done many times in the past. Commercial: This forum costs money to operate. It is not generally a place to promote commercial activity. Every year, I have to deal with a person who promotes a roofing company. This is not a place for you to advertise your income producing service. NOTE: On a limited basis, I do post information related to materials and services that I believe foster Christianity. This thread remains open for comments.

Stan and I do not always discover something that needs our attention. We are not always online. Posts may get by us. We welcome notification of posts that need our attention.

    Transplants

Artificial Lungs Prevail A man survived 48 hours without lungs using an artificial system until he was well enough to receive a double transplant. The landmark procedure took place nearly three years ago, with the patient since developing good function with his donated lungs. In 2023, the 33-year-old developed flu, pneumonia, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. In severe cases, ARDS is treated with life support to give patients time to fight infection. In this case, however, the patient’s heart stopped, his lungs were melting, and his kidneys had begun to fail. Surgeons at Northwestern Memorial Hospital decided to remove both lungs and use a four-component “total artificial lung” system to drain, filter, and return oxygenated blood to the patient’s heart at a responsive flow rate. Dr. Ankit Bharat, who designed the system, hopes it can be used in similar cases of severe ARDS, which impacts a portion of the roughly 190,000 US cases per year.

Are we in some kind of Shaking Time in America?

Death is the ultimate enemy. No matter how much I may dissagree with someone, we should discuss, share what we understand, peaceful protest, and who knows, someone may end up like Saul/Paul. I would have loved to approach the Charlie Kirk "Prove me wrong" and point out that the sign should have read NOT "Prove me wrong" but "Prove the Dragon right." He saw the danger of the dragon of Revelation 12, but ran to the beast of Revelation 13 for protection from the dragon, and wanted people to argue with him in trying to prove the dragon right, and if the dragon was wrong then join him with the beast. Most that approached him would have tried to prove the dragon right. Charlie's eyes opened to the Sabbath. Maybe his eyes could have been opened to the truth that the beast he so trusted in is just as wrong as the dragon, and he could have changed from an evangelist for the beast to becoming an evangelist for the lamb, the true lamb. God uses us to bring glory to his name: either through what God can do to our hearts and life, or by showing the ugliness of evil as it works out in their life. Neither of these two paths allow for us to put them to death or wish that they would die. I read in Liberty in I think the 1990s that Patrick Henry wanted to push for the US, or at least VA to be a Christian state and was opposing Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in their wanting liberty of conscience. Jefferson wrote to Madison and suggested that they pray that Henry would die. Madison replied that instead of them praying for Henry to die, to instead support him to become the governor of VA. This would get him out of the state legislator so that his voice for a Christian state against liberty of conscience would no longer have the influence, and that he would probably prefer the promotion and this was a better choice than death.
