    The Godhead

I agree! Lets remember his pray and also his purpose for coming here. He said that he came so we could see the Father. When he prayed he asked his Father to take this cup from him, but not my will buy yours! If he did decide to not go through with it, the divinity would've gone back to heaven and the human race would've died out, but the God head would've remained as before!! My 2 cents!!

I agree that God's eternity is essential. Thanks for adding it.

    The Godhead

He could if he wanted to. Who is going to do anything about it? My guess is that God can do whatever he wants to do. He chose to take human nature upon Himself, for example. Human nature, by definition, can sin. Fallen human nature can't help but sin. Unfallen nature, as found in Adam and Eve, could and did sin. Had Jesus sinned, his defiled human nature could have died, apart from His divinity. Had Jesus sinned, he would have shed his fallen nature. Since he did not sin, he will forever be encumbered, in a sense, by his humanity. Christ's death on the cross was one part of his sacrifice. Merging with humanity so that he could die was the more significant sacrifice, with eternal consequences. The incarnation itself was a sacrifice. I guess
