the gunman for the dormitory is identified as a "person of interest" not the gunman for the school building. That connection has not been made through ballistics. Lets not jump the gun of information dissemination.

As for one of the guns. A 9mm handgun. Interestingly enough a law had once limited the number of rounds for 9mm clip to 10. That law has expired and now those clips can hold 18 rounds before reloading. Students in one of the shooting classrooms report seeing the shooter reload the 9mm. He was appeared very "experienced" in handeling the weapon and clips, which he wore in a shooters vest. Police report that is was a well planned incedent as the serial numbers of all guns had been filed off and the gunman well armed with guns and ammo military style.

FOXNews has claimed a source of the Chicago Tribune that the gunman was a Chinese national, in the country on a student visa and no terrorist ties are suspected.

TIC (bitterly) - so was it heavy metal music or video games this time?

Probably wounded human nature. One possible scenario is that his girl friend was cheating and he lost it. Another is he was extremely possessive and there was no outside aggravation.

Much of this type of crime could be avoided if sexual sins were not indulged in.....Sin causes sin. Love, on the other hand, prevents a multitude of sins.

I just saw a news bit on the past university shootings here in the USA. In all those cases the people shooting showed no signs of mental illness according to those who knew them. But one thing they all had in common was the inablility to work through their frustrations, stress and anger. Also experts have said that when a person creates a suicide mindset as in a suicide bomber etc, no one can persuade them from their actions/goals.

Sin is not a mental illiness!

Paul:

"Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it."

"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality...hatred...jealousy, fits of rage...."

The problem with "human love" is that it is self-seeking, i.e., it demands a reciprocal love. But let something go wrong and that human love can just as passionately turn into pure hate.

Remember that woman who ran over her husband after she caught him cheating? What happened to her love for him? Right, it was conditional. Human love is scary, huh?

That’s why we need divine influence because outside Christ we would do the same things if we were put in the shoes of those who do these terrible atrocities….Even with Christ people do crazy things. Remember King David?

Well it didn't take long. CBS is having a special on the shooting this Wednesday night called "An Anatomy of A Rampage".

These details are not yet appearing in the mainstream US media

No kidding Redwood! Even if they say he was "normal" this is not "normal" behavior....it is just dreadful! I feel so bad for the families and the terrified students. What a horrible day for all of them!

that and hip hop, gays, avian flu, islam, prescription drugs, iraq, and the other.

FOX New described the killer today as a "Mad Man". It goes along with my belief that someone who does that is not in his right mind. However ... the news did report that he was being treated for Depression with drugs. Do you know how drug interactions can effect people???

I am sorry (Yet another apology from Shane) I misquoted FOXNews. Their source for saying it was a Chinese student was the Chicago Sun Times, not the Chicago Tribune. My mistake.

So we must wait and see if this is confirmed by a news outlet

He had set fires in the dorm and was accused of being a stalker. Just to mention a few that I can remember.

Personally I'm with Laz. Fox is tends to report news by spamming the airwaves with rumor, half truths and hearsay; THEN make corrections as they go. It's all in an attempt to be first with breaking news. Of course this us just IMHO.

Yes, he turned in disturbing writings in class as per the instructor. Yes he was referred to a campus counselor but no info was given as to whether he went. Yes he was being treated for depression. Depression can make you think and act differently. But I don't believe depression is a "mental illness". Depression can be cured in most people. I would be interested if toxicology tests show any anti-drepressants in his system. His erratic actions make me feel that he was not taking his meds.

Either that or the meds themselves were making him erratic. One side effect of an antidepressant is suicidal thoughts, but if you exhibit that side effect you are supposed to seek help immediately
