What do you think? Is this report true?

Besides being a businessman and CEO, Tim Walsh is an elder at an SDA church in Tennessee.

Date: Sunday, November 9, 2008, 12:43 AM

There was a presentation today at the Highland Academy SDA church by Tim Walsh, CEO of epipeline. He mentioned that he had a meeting at the Pentagon. His business is one that provides services for large corporations that seek government contracts. The reason for his visit to the Pentagon was business related but not in anyway as an advisor.

To find out more about his company which he is the President of, just go to www.epipeline.com

Tim is the husband of Brenda Walsh, who hosts "Kidstime" on 3 ABN.

It needs to be emphasized that in this report, Tim Walsh is not predicting the end of time nor is he predicting a time or even time-frame of when Jesus is coming.

Quote:
His talk today was entitled, "The Financial Crisis...Is the World trapped?" These are my notes from his talk--it is very sobering.

This is what is expected to occur in the next few weeks and months--a great depression. The world wide markets almost collapsed 6 times in the past few months--almost totally evaporated!

All the world's debt far exceeds all the assets in the world. There is 1400 trillion dollars of world debt, but only 53 trillion dollars of world GNP (Gross National Product). The stock market has lost 8.3 trillion in past year. The true amount wiped out of 401K's this year is 5 trillion dollars.

Alan Greenspan said to lenders to give a lot of credit no matter what.

In 2004 they started running out of buyers, so they increased the subprime lending & hedgefunds to keep the economy going. Many bought into this--401K's, pensions, foreign governments. The leverage was 100:1 ($100 debt to $1 asset). In late 2005? things started collapsing, huge losses, $700 trillion dollars. In 2006 governments realized this huge problem and hired experts to try to find a solution, but haven't been able to. Then in 2007 the credit crunch hit--institutions didn't trust each other, were afraid the other institution would go bankrupt & so wouldn't lend to each other. In Aug. 2007 "Northern Rock" ? bank in England went bankrupt. In Feb. 2008 England nationalized banks.

This became the biggest crisis for the National Security Council here & abroad. The G-7 countries (The 7 largest economic nations) met. They said we have a crisis. Behr Sterns went bankrupt. Mar. 13, 100's of trillions of leverage w/ Behr Sterns & ----? In Aug. Donald Trump said the banks have no money! Housing & commercial projects are frozen--no money. The Volocity of money (money changing hands) in Nov. 07 was the slowest in history. Congress passed the stimulus check legislation to try to get our economy going.

We are now in the world's largest deflationary period in history. Huge decline in values. All leaders in the world of cities, states, countries are all worried whether they will even be around in 6 months. All govenors have now been told not to have any press conferences telling of their dire circumstances. The government has now given 950 billion dollars to cities & states to try to keep them afloat. This is money that was not voted on/approved by us. They have also given billions to General Motors and Goodyear. There are 2000 companies asking for financial help, and saying that they are faced with laying off 40% of their employees. Large commercial companies told by Paulson to come directly to him for help. 250 billion.

China called for a new world currency in Aug. 08 when our legislatures delayed on the 750 billion bail-out package, devalueing the dollar. Our economy is still melting down. From 8/08 to 9/22/08 trillions of $ have evaporated. There is virtually no money in the banks. Read 9th volume of the Testimonies, p. 11: "We are living in the time of the end. The fast-fulfilling signs of the times declare that the coming of Christ is near at hand....Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones."

Many countries' markets are open only 50% of the time to try to keep the markets from falling so low--Russia is one of them. The Russion Mob is going broke. The destruction of demand for products is the largest in the world. World-wide shipping is down 47 1/2 %--almost half of the ships are sitting idle. (And railroads) Tens of thousands of factories in China have been shut down this year. The economists and governments don't see any turn-around. Rev. 18:11 "And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for noone buys their merchandise anymore." The G-7 & the G-20 consulted 2 weeks ago, and plan to meet again for a world-wide meeting in November in the U.S. Every leader in the world is frightened to death. This meeting is all about how to do stimulus packages world-wide to stimulate the economy.

OUR LIFE AS WE NOW KNOW IT IS OVER. We will have to learn that we can get by on just 4 things--shelter, food, clothing, and a bath. There will be virtually no credit available. The party is over. We have used credit and have been spoiled. We must now live simply. Many will lose their homes.

Production by General Motors is down 45%, Volvo trucks down 96%. (25% is beyond depression levels.) The # of people looking for work is 11.8%, this will double. There will be 1930's unemployment levels. Business for restaurants is down 50%, dry cleaners 45%. There were 106,000 people & businesses filing for bankruptcies last month--the highest in history. Paulson said last week that we are now in a deep recession. Mr. Walsh said we are going into a depression, and estimates the stock market will drop 4000 points. There will be a lot of collective anger in our country and in the world. 9Testimonies p. 13: "Those who hold the reins of government are not able to solve the problem of moral corruption, poverty, pauperism, and increasing crime. THEY ARE STRUGGLING IN VAIN TO PLACE BUSINESS OPERATIONS ON A MORE SECURE BASIS." This depression is expected to last 10-15 years. He suggests you put your 401K's into safe treasury bills, money market accounts, CD's. He suggests to read the book by Jim Rogers, who on 10/10/08 said we are headed for a "massive inflation holocaust". There has been a big decline in the value of the dollar, and the government is now printing lots of dollars.

There will be a scarcity of agricultural commodities--FOOD! There will be a scarcity of many things--if you need a replacement for the engine of your snow blower, you might not get it, etc.

Read Rev. 10:8-10 and study the 2300 year prophecy which our pioneers taught. (He showed a copy of their early 1844 poster).

There will be a major shortage of food. There will be martial law. If this happens in the city where you are, stay safe where you are. Don't try to get home to your family for 2-3 days when things are calmer. You may be killed if you get near a mob. Have each family member prepared to stay safe where they are for 2-3 days. He believes there will be rationing and then they will dictate where you can spend your money.

Be calm, study the prophecies with others, and when unbelievers see your calmness (because you know how this ends) they will come to you for guidance. Matthew 24: 12, 13, 14

A 10,000 foot financial tidal wave is coming. Read Daniel 11:40, 41, 43; and Rev. 13:17, 18. This is where we are. Another 7-9 million people are expected to lose their homes. 30 million homes are now worth less than what the owners owe.

You need to be thinking as a family of a plan as to how you will survive.

Sept 9, 2008 the Pope issued a statement calling for Sunday worship.

Read CW 41 p.1. We are to be students of prophecy. He believes we are near the 4th angel of Revelation. Read Prov. 28:19 and Prov. 3:9,10. Matthew 24.

My sister knows Tim and says he wouldn't be saying these things if he wasn't absolutely convinced of them.

Of course I am hoping he's wrong, but I am beginning to see evidence that he may be right. I am used to seeing lots of ads for employment in our local paper here in Southern California, but recently the newspapers have carried almost no ads at all.

I would be curious what others think about this as well.

This from Obama's Website. Now of course he didn't write it...I think it is one of many many blogs on here but still...

Energy Conservation & Globalized America

There have been a lot of changes in the past 100 years. Not only have we seen gang activity increase along with crimes, but so has energy consumption. The other change I realized was the recinding of the "Sunday Laws" across the united states.

Originally, the sunday law were instituted to make sure that people wouldn't have to choose between work and church. Often, the nobility would use financial enticements toward the religious heads of households in order to coherce them to work in order to increase his own financial gain. This was unfair to those who needed money, feared losing their means of supporting themselves, and without such a law banning people from working (though I don't believe it applied to you working for your own business), people would be further burdened.

I have to wonder if there weren't more benefits to this. First, without businesses being open, your kids would have nowhere to go for entertainment. Parents would have at least 1 day they could spend with family & friends without having to align work schedules. Decrease in gas use across the board. Less crime (since parents are home on Sundays, there is no reason why you can't keep an eye on them.) Fewer homeless people begging in the street (Since there are no people to beg from). Less Police would be necessary (if any at all... They could go on an "On Call As Needed" basis so they might be able to spend time with family. Neighbors would have time to get to know each other. How well do you know your neighbors now? Have you had any barbecues? Right now, I would guess that most people who may have barbecues, are only hanging out with people who are white collar regardless of the neighborhood you live in. Our work schedules can determine what class you relate to and hardens those lines even more.

So perhaps we should consider enacting a Sunday Law. Not to restrict people from working, but to give liberty to those who can't choose. And imagine the tax dollars that would be saved?

Problem is, I don't believe that this would be acceptable in Washington D.C. and states that collect an Income Tax. That's the real reason why the Sunday Laws were lifted. People could be forced to work more days, some part-time workers without insurance.

Speaking of Insurance... When you are seeing a doctor, you are paying for his time. The amount he charges is dependant upon how many appointments there are. Have you noticed that people have appointments with doctors booked up? Do you think that medical insurance might be the cause of that? Are you more likely to make an appointment when you have insurance or don't? Most of the time when I go to the Doctors Office, there are Seniors filling up the waiting room. In order to maintain the busy schedules, Seniors need health care insurance. This keeps the price of their time up.

So what is the only real solution to the health care issue is? not insurance because you know they make a lot of money from the work they do and have locked in prices lower than what's available to cash paying customers. The truth of the matter is, when you think about it, in order for a person to do well financially, several people have to do poorly. It's not an opinion, it's the truth. If you start a business and are the only employee... either you get paid, or the company get paid. not both. Either you receive a larger portion, or the business does.

Originally when businesses were created in each state, they were granted a franchise to provide a service. They would pay a franchise fee for it, and competitiion was determined by the contract they signed related to the type of business. They were also limited to only that business. The country has changed drastically in the past 100 years... And if you ask me, The American people have been paying so that elected officials can enjoy the step above socialism.

Congress has become what we fought for. There's no denying it. And if people disagree, it's likely because they envision aristocrats to be worse than they were. They don't have to spit in your face, to spit in your face.

Yes, I saw that recently posted on a different Adventist forum. While Obama did not write it, I am sure Obama knows about the subject and has said something to his followers about those issues.

Of course we know that the Sunday laws won't come about by leaders imposing their will on the public. Sunday laws will be something the churches and the public will call for.

But the question is, would Obama have the fortitude and guts to stand up against the pressures of popular opinion? That has yet to be seen. I hope he would.

He has said in interviews that he believes in separation of church and state. We'll see what he means by that and just how firmly he holds those beliefs.

You must be joking, right?

Where's the conspiracy in the post I put up?

It is just saying that there is a serious problem with the economy,which everyone already knows. Tim Walsh isn't saying there's some conspiracy involved in it, at least there is no mention of it in the report.

I posted it really in order to get people's responses more than anything else. I'm not saying that I believe everything in it will definitely happen within a few months. We really can't know that.

I think there's a good chance the economy will bounce back for a while, but we do know from prophecy that some day it won't bounce back again.

What I find troubling about what you posted is the extreme fear-mongering tone, such as making alarmist statements with absolute certainty like - "OUR LIFE AS WE NOW KNOW IT IS OVER", "massive inflation holocaust", "scarcity of...FOOD!" "There will be a major shortage of food", "There will be martial law", "You may be killed", "there will be rationing", "they will dictate where you can spend your money", "10,000 foot financial tidal wave is coming", "plan as to how you will survive", etc.

But the Adventist ace in the hole certain to scare the saints into immediate heart palpitations that this latest crisis really is THE FINAL SIGN OF THE END --- (drum roll...) --- POPE...SUNDAY WORSHIP!!!

Sept 9, 2008 the Pope issued a statement calling for Sunday worship.

Putting the Pope's sermon about Sunday worship in this context, including dating it so close in time, attempts to create a a direct connection to our Adventist fears that this financial crisis will bring about the expected Sunday laws. Everything is falling into place, things will happen rapidly - THE END IS NEAR!

One small problem with this little connect the dots classic Adventist end-time conspiracy theory exercise - The Pope didn't say that on September 9, 2008. That was from his Sunday Mass sermon on September 9, 2007. BBC Report

OOPS! So what else might be just a little off, skewed, exagerated... or just flat out wrong about this attempt to map out God's time schedule?

To quote Brian McClaren, "We must never underestimate our power to be wrong when we talk about God."

One thing of which I am absolutely certain - I DO NOT KNOW...

OK thanks for your viewpoint.

It should be noted that I posted this in order to get the views of Forum members. I am not saying that I believe the prognosis that the economy will fall flat on its nose in the next few weeks or months. No one knows.

I did not write the report, but I do believe that Adventists ought to be aware of these things, even if they might turn out to be wrong.

These things, at the very least, should be considered "wake-up" calls.

Better to be awake to what is happening than to be taken by complete surprise while asleep. The Spirit of prophecy says that the end-time events will come as an "overwhelming surprise."

Quote:

The prophecies which the great I AM has given in His word, uniting link after link in the chain of events, from eternity in the past to eternity in the future, tell us where we are today in the procession of the ages, and what may be expected in the time to come. All that prophecy has foretold as coming to pass, until the present time, has been traced on the pages of history, and we may be assured that all which is yet to come will be fulfilled in its order. {Mar 68.1}

Today the signs of the times declare that we are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Everything in our world is in agitation. Before our eyes is fulfilling the Saviour's prophecy of the events to precede His coming: "Ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. . . . Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." {Mar 68.2}

Today men and nations are being tested by the plummet in the hand of Him who makes no mistake. All are by their own choice deciding their destiny, and God is overruling all for the accomplishment of His purposes. {Mar 68.5}

Christians should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise, and this preparation they should make by diligently studying the word of God and striving to conform their lives to its precepts. {Mar 68.6}

I haven't read this entire thread, but it struck me because only yesterday I was on a chat with another Adventist group, and one of the members said he believes 2012 is the "magic year" when the Lord will return to earth. He even said that "none of the non-Adventist prophets can *see* anything in the future beyond 2012." He said he believes Obama will be our last American president.

Well, my answer to that was:

"In such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh."

and the Lord said, "Occupy till I come."

Thanks for that. I agree with your sentiments about occupying till Jesus comes.

I don't agree, though, with what many are saying about the date 2012. That is a date that many have come up with, even some well-known tele-evangelists, evidently because Dec. 2012 is the time when the Long Count Calendar of the Ancient Mayans ends.

There is no "magic year." God is not waiting for a particular time. He is waiting for His church to get spiritually prepared. When He sees the church is ready, He will allow the prophecies of the last days to happen in quick succession.

Quote:
Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of the Saviour shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim His own. It is the privilege of every Christian, not only to look for, but to hasten, the coming of our Lord. Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel! Quickly the last great harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come. LDE 39

So often misinterpreted and misapplied, it is.

What do you suppose a perfect reproduction of Saviour character would be like?

The one sure sign that the end is truly near is just as Jesus proclaimed it, "And this good news of the kingdom of God shall be spread (talked about and lived) everywhere in the whole world - THEN SHALL THE END BE." My sense is that Jesus was saying when the whole world really gets it, God will tap the Son on the shoulder and say, "Now go get 'em! Bring my children home!"

The irony of this one true sign of the end is that as Jesus said, "Only God the Father Knows and sees the end of all things." We cannot see the invisible sign of the saints. (Man looks on the outside, God looks at the heart.) It is hinted at in Jesus parable of the clueless saints. - Matthew 25:31-46. The saints are living the good news and don't even know it. But God knows. When he sees the gospel taken to heart in verity throughout the world - Times UP! The one true sign of the end is only visible to God.

And the good news in a cup of cold water spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 25 is precisely the character quality that EGW was referring to in the above quote.

So few bother to read Matt. 25

Thanks Redwood. You are very right.

Matthew 25 has three parables that teach that we should be ready for problems, that the talents God has given to us should not be buried but used for the furthering of His work, and the last parable tells us that these talents should be used for the benefit of those needing our help.

John's original post is showing possible problems that we should be prepared for, showing us that we should look for ways to use what we have right now to spread the word that Jesus is the Redeemer and is soon coming to rescue us, and that there will soon be people needing our help even more than they do now. Even if we don't expect these things to actually happen tomorrow the Bible does tell us that sooner or later they will happen.

But our focus should be on Jesus and His soon return, not in the destruction of our homes, our lives, or our 401k accounts. Are there people in this forum whos focus is on "THINGS! It appears so. Are there others here who have their focus where it should be? It appears so. Seems to me that we each need to take a close look at where our own focus is.

Make your's Jesus!

Christ is our model, and we are to change our reason, our affections, our speech, our habits, according to his divine example, rather than seek to meet the customs, practices, and habits of education of any nation. We are to receive our mold from Christ. He is to see himself in the character of his followers. We are to copy his Spirit, to have our lives hid with Christ in God. In every true believer the character of Christ is to be reproduced. The Spirit of Christ is to be made manifest through human efforts. As those who have been transformed by the truth come in contact with others who have had a false education, and have received perverted ideas, they are to represent Christ, in order that the deficiencies of those who have had but little experience may disappear, and the mold of Christ may be seen upon them. The followers of Christ are to represent his tenderness, his courtesy, and his love toward others. His solicitude for human souls is to be reproduced in those who believe in him. They are to lift Christ up in order that he may draw all unto him. The world should see a representative of Christ in each of his believers. {RH, September 25, 1894 par. 5}

It is not in the power of those who have named the name of Jesus to give him more than is his own. He has bought every human agent with an infinite price, and we are his property for both time and eternity. He owns every moment of our time, and our gifts of reason and talent belong to him. We cannot glorify God unless we express our obligation to him. Every soul converted to the truth, not only takes the name of Christian, but is under the responsibility of putting on Christ in spirit, in word, and in conduct. This invests him with the same kind of influence as had the one who through the power of the Holy Spirit led him into the light of truth. Then the likeness of Christ appears in his character; and he is a laborer together with God, and draws souls by the divine power of the grace that has been imparted to him. {RH, September 25, 1894 par. 6}

When will God consider the church ready to be taken to heaven?

Quote:
Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling. Through the grace of God and their own diligent effort they must be conquerors in the battle with evil. While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God's people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14.

When this work shall have been accomplished, the followers of Christ will be ready for His appearing. GC 425

The first folks to fold will be these holy Joes...these self-righteous hypocrites...those traditional historic SDA living in fear...trying to be perfect.

Jack (like I've mentioned before) knows some of these SDA who have committed suicide. Why? No hope...no assurance...just fear...fear of the judgment...fear of God...fear of the law...fear...fear...fear.

Here's what Jack says:

I believe in sanctification, BUT I am like a farmer who’s trying to grow apples. When you try to grow apples, where do you concentrate on, the fruit or the tree? The tree. The fruit becomes natural if the tree is right. And the tree in Christianity, the tree in the gospel, is justification. The fruit is sanctification.

And if you have the tree wrong, I don’t care how long you spend or how much time you hash and you preach and you proclaim sanctification, if the tree is wrong, I can guarantee you that the fruit will be wrong. It becomes a futile, frustrating experience for the pastor to produce works out of his congregation when the tree is wrong. It’s absolutely futile.

I am convinced that where we have gone wrong as a people is in the tree. I’m spending much time on the tree [justification] because I know, when the tree is right, when you have finally come to the point, “Not I, but Christ,” the fruits will come, and the earth will be lighted with His glory.

Because when God looks at Christian living, He does not look at Christian living like man does. Man looks at the outward performance. God looks at the motivation, at the heart. You cannot have the right motivation if you are still [color:#CC0000]under guilt, and insecurity, and living in fear whether you’ll make it to heaven or not. It’s impossible, it’s part of the law of nature.
