Lineman Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Hi TS, I am a little disappointed that so much of this seems to be about the SDA church and Ellen White in your mind. This should NOT be about God's people, but about God Himself. Yes, you will know that God works through His people, but it isn't His people that is important. HE is what this is all about. If it were not for HIM there wouldn't be ANY hope, NO chance of healing. By the way, when the plastic comes out of your ear and you can hear from that ear again I think you need to be doing exactly what Jesus asked others to do after He healed them: Quote: "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." I am hoping that you will not go around telling everyone that the SDA church healed you 'cause you know that would not be true. There are people praying for you that are not Seventh-day Adventists and of course you are not being healed by them either, only God can and will heal you. Put your trust in Jesus, not in a church, or you will be disappointed. Blessings my friend, Dan Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Woody Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Quote: Think about the valueble lessons i would learn if God healed my ear:- I would know that the SDA church is God s movement - I would know that God cares about individuals - I would know that God works through his people - I would know that i could evangalise for him - I would know that i could help others whose prayers are unanswered by explaining some of the necessary conditions involved The healing of your ear has nothing to do with the above. All the above is already known to be true. The healing of your ear would just reinforce a false image that you can get whatever you want by praying. It will be a house of cards the next time you pray and don't get what you want in the way you want. So, you might as well just forget giving all the credit to God. Because for certain ... sometime in the near future ... you will have to consider that he lets you down. Just try coming to him in Faith as indicated in the post that Pam started. Members phkrause Posted November 30, 2008 Members Posted November 30, 2008 Good Post Redwood. Couldn't have said it any better. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Guest truthseeker007 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Redwood, not to disturb you, let me tell you what i think. I think you are comfortable in a situation in which you can rationalise everything with the bible, as long as it is not real. God his promises are real and they are concrete. Except for this ear thing, i will ask nothing that i really really need. By the way this issue is not about me. It s about me knowing more about God and be able to help others. It s not about me me me. A couple of days ago i felt so sad, i thought to myself 'damn i wish i had a gun, i would blow my brains out right now'. But i am not going to buy a gun, i don t want to dissapoint my mom. Though i am convinced that God doesn t care about me at all, and i am better off dead, i am still caring for my mom. Really i don t care about hell and all that stuff, it s just a cruel temporary torture from a demonic God for a life i didn t ask for. But after it s passed, it s passed. I hope God doesn t create creatures just for the fun of torturing them. If God doesn t come through, after my years of trying to get to know him, after being ridiculed, after losing everything, i am sorry to say this but then i am much more comfortable with the side who says there is no God and that the biblical God is a tyrant etc. I am really really starting to believe that the SDA church is build on deception. It doesn t mean you guys teach many biblical doctrines though. I don t know. All i know is God never answers me. If i had a button with which i could wipe out all beings in the universe, i would certainly push that button. Existence has no right of existing if it s not build on mutual respect and love. Again, i am on the brink of being a happy money loving prostitue-visiting atheist just like the majority. Have you ever realised how insane it is that there are adventist prachers who tell their people, 90 percent of them is going to hell, that it is already too late and that kind of stuff? Think about the millions of sincere souls who visit protestant churches on sunday? All i see is fear, death, egocentric views, ego boasting, lies, cognitive dissonance etc. It doesn t make sense. Anyway, i like the guys on this forum. Maybe the bible was invented by aliens who used the bible to install some kind of moral order. Just like human rights are based on human dignity, so love is based on religion. I say, we don t need religion to love unless there is a God who seems to give a damn... Quote
Administrators Gail Posted November 30, 2008 Administrators Posted November 30, 2008 Truthseeker, I see so many points in your post that I would like to address, but all in good time. You are asking for something but when I read your message two things come into my mind. One- that God is not a genie in a lamp and not there to give us our every whim. The Bible says that He will give us our desires, but we need to come to Him in trust and faith, believing as a little child. He knows our minds and wants to guide us in the happy way. He knows that we might not know what we should ask for because our vision tends to be more selfish and farther from Him that we even think. If you give God your problem, He has an answer for you. But He might have a way to answer your request that you didn't even think of! Probably much better, too! Secondly- I would like to ask you to consider thinking a bit on the concept of faith. Faith is gentle waiting on Him, patiently receiving the answers that He gives in HIS time. Faith is very difficult, for it involves giving up of our own ideas and agenda. We need to move them out of the way to enable you to see God Himself working. The independent person without God does not feel his/her need for God and He will not interfere. But although it is difficult, the Bible says that without faith it is impossible for us to please Him. If you talk to people who are mature in their Christian walk, you will find that they are used to being patient concerning the things of this life. They become that way because they KNOW that God will take care of it. It's not worth fretting about. They know that through (sometimes) years of experience by having God solve the matters of their lives time after time. If you have access to the Steps to Christ forum here, Beryl is a woman full of wisdom which has come from trusting God for a long time. You will discern as you read her comments. I don't know what will happen with your ears, but leave it with the Lord and He will direct you. :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted December 1, 2008 Members Posted December 1, 2008 TS I don't agree with your statement about adventist preachers telling adventists that 90% of them will go to hell. I do believe that many preachers throughout the history of this earth have preached this way. But within the last 10-15 years even the other Churches have not preached this kind of a doctrine. I have been to other Prodestant church's. Why do you think there are so many different demonation's today? People like to go from one to the next until they find the church that fits to what that like. We have a set of friends that do this very thing. I remember talking with them once about what they liked about the church there were going to. There answer was that that church allowed them to eat any kind of food they wanted (pork, all the unclean foods, etc.). And all other sorts of things that they felt the SDA church would not allow. Plus they didn't want to go to church on one particular day as we do. So in other words, basicly do what they wanted. I think TS your trying to put God into a box of your making. I could be wrong and I hope I am. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hey Pk you are right that i want God to fit in a box. Moderators John317 Posted December 2, 2008 Moderators Posted December 2, 2008 I get the feeling, TS, that you don't think you deserve to feel good about yourself or for others, including God, to love you. Is it possible that you enjoy your misery and wouldn't know what to do without it? When was the last time you felt positive for a whole week about yourself and your life? When we talk negatively about ourselves and about God, our words reinforce our feelings. It can be a vicious cycle. For instance, if I say "I'm really miserable and sad" over and over again, pretty soon I will begin to feel that way even if I felt happy to start with. On the other hand, if I say "I'm really happy today" over and over again, and if I refuse to say a negative thing, I will begin to feel happy. The point is that your thinking and feelings will follow your words and your actions. If you smile and act and talk happy, in time your feelings will follow your actions and your happy words. Even if you feel sad, start smiling and act happy. Do what you remember doing when you are happy. Keep it up. Refuse to say, "I'm sad and miserable." Try it. Begin by saying, "Thank you, Jesus. Thank you for life. Thank you for giving me my mother. Thank you for giving me air to breath and water to drink. Thank you, Jesus, for giving me Adventistforum. Thank for giving me the friends I have there..... Thank you for giving me a little faith. Thank you, Jesus, for increasing my faith. I love you, Jesus. .... Thank you for my eyes to see flowers and other beautiful things, etc. " Don't say anything negative. Do that for at least two days, then tell us what you experienced. TS, the above has been put into practice by many people who have struggled with terribly deep, long-term depression. A well-known Adventist psychologist got over his depression by doing what I've suggested here. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

The other members can help you through this. Every day is a new day! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Woody Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hi TS. You are indeed our friend. And we appreciate your honesty. This is a good sign that you are able to see your condition. Continue to share with us. Many have been on the road that you are on. They can help guide you. Also ... if you don't share ... we don't know how to pray for you. And you can count on our prayers and our online support for you during each of your trials. TS ... we do care. We hurt also. We know about pain. And it hurts when we hear of the pain of others ... yes ... but it also gives us the opportunity to look away from our pain and onto a way to help some one else. It is all a win-win situation. So ... please continue to share and pour out your heart. It is only if you stopped being forth right and honest ... that I would fear for you. God appreciates honesty. HE can work with that. It is those who pretend to be all pious, self sufficient and religious and have all things together ... it is those that God is not able to work with. So, continue to tell us and God how you feel. And fall down before the throne of God's Grace. God bless you Truthseeker .... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Lineman Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi Truthseeker, I was just trying to catch up a little on my reading and must say that I am very impressed with all that has been said. You have some real friends here and I hope you thank the Lord for them. It sometimes happens that we do not always like what we hear, but sometimes what we hear is what is really needed. (At least that's the way it is with me.) I also wanted to say that I feel bad and need to ask for your forgiveness because when I read your post on 11/29 I actually stopped praying for your ear. I think I was a little bit in shock at what you said, sorry. I think I prayed once since that date about your ear, but I have prayed for your heart. Gail is right in that when we ask God for something, but leave it in His hands as to when and how it will come about it will always be the best possible answer for us. I still believe that when you come to Him just as the people came to Him each day, asking for help, you show faith in His ability to heal. His promise, that if we have an extremely small amount of faith we can move mountains, indicates to me that He will answer your prayer of faith, but I would encourage you to also leave it in His hands as to when and how this happens. You are asking for your right ear to be healed. My thinking was that this would prove to you that God really does care about Truthseeker007, but your post on 11/29 did not really seem to say that at all. In fact, I have noticed in several of your posts that you actually already know that God is real, but you're just not sure He cares about you personally. Am I right? But really, what would the healing of your ear tell you that you cannot know from what you see each day? You have eyes that can enjoy lots of things He has made, right? You can actually hear music, something some other people cannot do at all. You can feel, you can smell, you can love. Don't these things tell you a little about His care for you? I have to agree with John317, that what you say out loud really does work on how you feel, so in addition to putting his suggestions to work for yourself why don't you also tell yourself that "God cares about me, I can tell." And then say out loud what it is that you can see that tells you this is true. I still believe that God will heal your right ear, but it is now my prayer that He will do it in such a way as to bring the most honor and glory to His holy name and also in such a way as to bring the biggest blessing to you. As Gail alluded to, His healing of your ear may not include the removal of the plastic that is in there. He may just make it so that you can hear perfectly with it as it is now. Or He may have something totally different in mind, but let Him do what is best. But you and I know that God will do nothing until your heart is right, so my prayer includes a request for a change of heart for you. Just tell Him what you are telling us. Be honest 'cause He already knows it all anyway. He just needs you to be willing to let Him do what is needed. The odd thing is that you and I cannot give our hearts to God, but we can ask Him to take them. We cannot be "willing", but we can be willing to be made willing by Him. So just tell Him what's on your mind. Even tell Him that you don't even know how to talk to Him if that is how you feel, but talk to Him anyway and He will understand what you really want to say. In the mean time we all will be praying for your change of heart and also for your ear. Blessings my friend, Dan Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hey everybody, Thanks for all your prayers, please continue to pray. Something terrible happened, but didn t actually happen. It was like lightning struck my soul, i clearly saw how wrong i was and how good God is and that i shouldn t question his policies. I was scared all night because of something i can t tell. But i destroyed my 7 cd s with porn and made tremendous promises to God if he made sure nothing bad had happened. Fortunately nothing bad had happened, i saw later on the news. I promised to live 100 percent for him. First i wanted to build this world and really defend it, but now i see that that s not the way things ought to be. I promised God i would go search for a cheap small room for myself, without television and internet, just books. Then live poor, study at the university and use all my skills for the church, visit church every sabbath, getting baptised and preach wherever he wants me too. Never mind about that little ear thing, ohw how i was so blind!. Everytime i red verses i said to myself 'blablabla this is of no significance', but it is soooo important that we understand the simple principles of love and righteousness. I was so blinded by theological discussions and judged everything from an atheist point of view. I wanted to surpass belief and know, now i know a lot of things, but i haven t experienced true christianity yet. I want to live for others, work voluntarily for the church, write books and live poor, giving all my money to those that are in need. Please i hope you will forgive me for all the nasty things i ve said on this board. I see how pornography can even lead to murder, how lies and the defenders of total capitalism destroy every spiritual wellbeing. Ohw i wanted some high position, get a couple of master degrees so i could boast, how wrong it was! Please please pray that God will forgive me! How could i forget the tremendous price Jesus paid with his blood? There is nothing i could ever do to pay him back, while i am complaining about money and stuff? I was from this world, i hate this world that s why i am unhappy. I ve deceived myself into believing this world can give me satisfaction and everything i need, but it cannot. Only true 100 percent christianity can make me happy. Please pray that God will not leave me or forsake me. I cannot imagine God ever coming back to work with me, i ve got tears in my eyes from all of the sorrow. I ll do whatever it taked, please please pray! Quote
Administrators Gail Posted December 3, 2008 Administrators Posted December 3, 2008 Wow! Praise the Lord for the blessing you have received! You should save your words in your diary, so that you can look back and remember these little breakthroughs Then, the next time you have a bad day, you can remember that it is only a bad day, that God always loves you, and that things will get better One step at a time! You might find that your life is like an onion, that God shows you a bit, then another bit, until your spiritual walk unfolds and just gets BETTER! As this happens, too, you will find yourself changing. You will be able to more and more bless others. It is likely that it won't happen all at once like a lightning bolt. If it did, it might kill you! But we can praise God for every blessing. And for you I do! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators John317 Posted December 3, 2008 Moderators Posted December 3, 2008 You can only live up to your promises as you have the Holy Spirit in your life moment by moment, and even then you need to realize you will probably sometimes not feel like following through on those promises, and other times you may really disappoint yourself. God won't leave you or forsake you as long as you want Him leading your life. He knows our hearts and our real desires even better than we know ourselves. I would say it is best just to live day by day with God and not make great plans and promises at this point. Pray for faith and trust and love for Him, and pray also that God will help you to hate sin and love righteousness. Study the life of Jesus. Everyone here is praying for you, TS. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Lineman Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I agree with Gail, "Wow! Praise the Lord!" I also agree with PK, "We are all sinners." I was actually thinking of this very thing today as I was thinking about you and this forum group. Doesn't the Bible tell us that the great sinners of this earth will be in the kingdom before the pompus, self-righteous religious types? You wrote, "I cannot imagine God ever coming back to work with me". It is obvious that He has never left you in the first place or you would not be where you are today. He has just been waiting for this very time in your life and for times like this in each of our lives. When we finally see how hopless and helpless we really are then He can begin to actually work with us. It is not possible for me to understand what you have gone through just recently, but it is amazing to me that God does use our own "stupidity" to "hit us over the head with a 2x4". He sure knows how to get our attention. I'm not sure you should give up the internet (though it is very hard to keep from viewing, even seeking out those same kinds of things that got you into trouble in the first place) because the internet can be a very powerful tool for the Lord when it is used right. I believe that He wants you to keep talking to people like you are doing here. I remember that not to long ago I had the same kinds of urges, to go and preach wherever God wanted me to preach, just as long as I could share what I had found out. It dawned on me one day that God did not want me to be preaching, but wanted me to use the internet to share little things about Him and His love. So now that is almost all I do. I just have very specific places on the web that I allow myself to go. There were just 4 sites that I went to every day for a long time. Now I include places like this forum, but I am very careful to stay away from even the hints of what I use to do before. I don't have any will power if I get close, so I just stay away. I have needed pictures for some of my presentations and have gone looking on Google for them. Once in awhile I see something that reminds me of my old self and I have to make a very concious effort to avoid even looking at whatever it is. Sin is like that though. It is so much fun at times that it is impossible to give it up without Jesus stepping in and helping us. In my case, He gave me lots to do online. I found that as I spent time looking at what He had made and doing His work I found myself really enjoying what I was finding and doing. I remember when I started looking at specific things in the universe and tried to think outside the box so to speak. Just thinking about what it must be like living in a different specific area of our galaxy, or thinking about how amazing it is that there is a God strong enough to create all this stuff and yet knowing that He cares about the little things in my life really kept my mind off of what had so long been a problem for me. It didn't take very long at all and I was totally engrossed in thinking about all these things, but then something must have happened (I don't know what) but I started thinking about those evil things again. Satan has a way of bringing up our past and it has been a problem off and on for years. Don't give up. God is very patient. Every time you slip and fail Him tell Him what you feel and ask Him to forgive you again. I got to the place at times where I felt that there was no way He could keep forgiving me because I kept failing Him over and over. But He does not give up if we don't. Don't let the Devil tell you otherwise. I am with Redwood and the whole crew, we're still praying for you. Keep us in your prayers too, OK? We all are in need of God's help. Blessings, Dan P.S. I feel impressed to add this: It seems to me that watching two short videos would be of help to you at this time. I'm guessing you have already watched this one, but I'd like to encourage you to watch it again keeping in mind that God is in full control of what is going on. We all have a tendency to forget that: Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! (Explain the Gospel in just a few minutes, or maybe even seconds.)
Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Thanks everybody, Lineman you are right i should choose specifically what i am about to do. You know i always felt this kind of urge to write books about God and religion and the deceptions of this world. I have access to all the scientific sources of the planet and through the years i have developed a worldview which could change the whole world. I want to rewrite the great controversy but now fill in the picture with specific examples. The rise of the evolution theory, the rise of political ideologies, the influence of secret societies, the conditioning of minds on television and music, the depths of misery caused by too much capitalism and other lusts etc. I want to write books which use the bible as a standard for all reforms on this planet so the adventist movement stops from wanting to belong to the great club of fallen churches. I think it s time to go a separate ways and unless i am convinced by the bible that this is not the case, i won t think otherwise. It s a huge task and it will take years to write these books, but because i know both sides of each story i am able to defend the bible better than most people do. I have always sought a way out of the bible so i could continue sinning, but there aren t any credible ways out. I have listened to Dawkins and other atheists, atheism wraps up simple lies in sophisticated theories, that s all it is doing. Anyway i think i ll have to study my bible more before i am able to write these books. It s gonna be a huge task, but a necessary one and i can imagine that the devil wants to stop me so bad from doing what i am about to do. So i just keep on taking punches and move ahead untill i am finally there where i am supposed to be. Quote
