Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks everybody, I really need your support and prayers. Satan is desparately going to try to stop me. Seriously i am afraid i am going to die before i ve finished my work. I know that there will come days when i am not in Christ and i don t want to be an easy prey. So even in my sins, i need God s protection. Anyway happy holidays, May God bless you all Broken adventist, nice to see u here. I think i ve never seen you before, i hope you stick around since we all need each other. By the way i saw a movie on youtube in which there was some sort of dance performance in the SDA church. Now i know i shouldn t be a hypocryte since we all have our since and i shouldn t be a legalist, but doesn t draw such things the attention away from God toward our own pleasures? I mean, i am thinking about constantly, nearly every minute my thoughts are with God. When i go to church it really means a big thing for me, being in the presence of the lord. In that way i cannot understand why there are adventist churches that offer worldy entertainment for more members. When God comes with his mighty last warning and consumes preachers from the inside with his holy fire, it will be like a tornado wiping away all of the rotten fruits of the adventist church, replacing them with new fruits. I mean the SDA movement shouldn t be a club. I am sad that i cannot go to a church with same minded people, i believe God doesn t want me to conform to the church in this state, so i ll do research on my own and write a book using only the best scientific sources. I don t want to boast or make myself look big, since i am absolutely not! But this book is going to be the most powerfull and influential book ever written that s why i am so scared that satan will kill me before i have completed my mission. Quote
Woody Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 There are many different ways to draw people to the Lord. As many as there are people. We are all so different. What reaches one person ... may not reach another. This is why we need to be so tolerant. Dancing is quite Biblical. For me ... it depends upon how the dance is done. I have not seen the youtube. So, I can't speak for this one. If it is done in a sexual way ... I would oppose it. But, other than that ... I am slow to criticize. It may not be for me . But it may help another person spiritually. I would advise that for those who dancing is not helpful ... that they not attend. Perhaps they would need to walk out or close their eyes in meditation if they are already in attendance. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators John317 Posted December 5, 2008 Moderators Posted December 5, 2008 Keep praying and working and don't give up, no matter what, TS. Just know that your friends here are with you in spirit and praying for you. The main thing is knowing we are all helpless and hopeless apart from Christ and His power. "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world." Always. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks Red, you are right from a liberal perspective point of view. Maybe it s just a personal thing for me, when i am in the presence of the Lord i wish to be quiet and dedicated to Him. Thanks John for never giving up on me and supporting me. Quote
Lineman Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I have to agree with Redwood too. Each person will react differently in God's presence and in fact we may even react differently each time we come before Him some day. This song came to mind as I was reading the above comments. Members phkrause Posted December 6, 2008 Members Posted December 6, 2008 beautiful, quite a contrasted between this imagine and john lennon's imagine. Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Please somebody give me the answer to the following questions: - When was the old testament written? - Why were there so many commonalities between the God of Israel and the egyptian God? - Is Israel composed after the names of Isis Ra and El? - Why was El used to refer to something Godly? For instance Allah, Gabriel, MichaEL, ELohim etc? Doesn t this indicate that man created God rather than the other way around? Please, my faith is shaking again... Quote
Members phkrause Posted December 6, 2008 Members Posted December 6, 2008 Well the OT was around in Jesus' time. So it has to be at least 2000 years old. And if Moses wrote the first 5 books plus Job than its probably some 3-4000 years old. But I'm pretty sure some else might have a better idea to the age of the OT. As to your next Q I would have to say I haven't seen any. The next 2 Q's I would say I don't believe that that is true. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Moderators John317 Posted December 6, 2008 Moderators Posted December 6, 2008 The OT was written between 1400 BC and 400 BC, the first books being Job and Genesis and the last book Malachi. There really aren't any substantive commonalities between the Biblical God, Yahweh, and the gods of Egypt. The God of Israel pre-dates the times of Egyptian slavery. In the context of Islam, the divine name Allah, used in the Qur'an, has a linguistic cognate relationship with the Hebrew word "Eloah." El was a common name in the languages of that area of the world (Mesopotamia) for god or gods. Elohim is not the personal name of God but is more like a title, and is plural. All these things show that God used the ordinary language of the people of that period. God's personal name is Yahweh. What we know of the true God comes from His self-revelation to us, not from man's mind or imagination. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I just went to town, feeling terribly sad. I wanted to buy dvd s but it was all rubish and i realised how much nonsense we are fed with. I am still hoping that wise guys like John can refute my following thoughts: - in the old testament times it was very normal to create their own Gods and apply good characteristics to them. For instance, if something good happened they started to build altars and that sort of stuff. Why should i believe that the bible was a revelation from God to man rather than from man to (a-nonexisting) God? Quote
Lineman Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Hi TS, I certainly don't consider myself to be a wise guy, though I pray for wisdom daily. (Just never think of myself that way I guess.) The reason you felt sad as you went to town is that in your heart you know that what you are wanting to do is not good, nor right and that it only hurts you and those you care about. You felt that you just couldn't help yourself though. Keep in mind that the whole point of the Bible is to show us that we cannot trust ourselves, but that we MUST trust in God and let Him do whatever He needs to do to save us. Just tell the Lord how you feel. It's going to take some time to get this way of life out of your system, but hang in there. Trust your Creator. He understands. Anyway, you asked about the OT and when it was written. Check this out: http://www.bibletimelines.org/Chronological_Bible.htm The exact dates are not known and all I am trying to show by this timeline the approximate times that each book or books cover, not when they were written. I have thought about how to know if God is real for some time and several years ago I realized that the only way I could know is due to the prophecy found in the Bible. They will prove either that the Bible is true and is God's word as it claims to be, or it will prove that whoever wrote it didn't really know what they were talking about. Here is what I came up with: http://www.bibletimelines.org/framedproof.html (Is there a real God?) http://www.bibletimelines.org/framedproofjesus.html (Is Jesus for real?) http://www.bibletimelines.org/framedquestions.html (More tough questions such as, how do we know that parts of the Bible were not changed so as to make these prophecies appear to be correct?) Trusting God at His word is not the same thing as having blind faith. I really believe that God wants us to dig deep and find some of these answers, so just don't give up on Him. He has not given up on you, nor will He ever. (That's going to be up to you, not Him. We all will make that choice at some point in our lives.) Dan Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Members phkrause Posted December 6, 2008 Members Posted December 6, 2008 John since you mentioned Islam I was wondering if you have seem Steve Wohlberg's 13 part series about Islam Revisited with Stephen Dickie? Its pretty interesting. Its on 3abn. I've seen the first 2 shows. I won't even try to tell you anything about because I would not do it any justice. Anyway back to the topic. I knew some else would be able to give TS a better answer than I could. Thanks for your good post. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Guest truthseeker007 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 thanks i have found very good sources for explaining the bible. There are actually three streams and the catholics adopted the gnostic occult bible. Anyway i wanted to say, since i have put away my porn collection, i am starting to feel better. But i am very very worried. I really really need prayers for the protection of my life, because i am about to do some very very important things. There is no time to lose but i am afraid i ll die somehow without finishing what i ve started. So please pray for protection of my life, i am really worried, but maybe i shouldn t. I should trust God. Quote

Members phkrause Posted December 10, 2008 Members Posted December 10, 2008 Like the three Hebrew's in front of King Nebuchadnezzar, telling the King that there God would deliver them from him but if not they would not bow down to the golden image. Be faithful to the end TS. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
