Ted Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 There's no white ox on this page... Quote GnuPG/PGP key: 0xB07F9AAE
Members phkrause Posted October 3, 2009 Members Posted October 3, 2009 ted your obviously posting, so I'm not sure what the problem is? pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Yep. It looks like Ted is doing fine now that he has my explanation. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â

Neil D Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I once had a white ox in my living room but we all ignored it and pretended like it didn't exist. I remember that white ox...only we called it an "elephant"....and we couldn't see it very well in the darkened room.....I also recalled a lot of people yelling....don't remember what the noise was all about.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Â George Bernard Shaw Â
Dr. Shane Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Shhhhhh, we are not suppose to be talking about it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
minky Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 please explain does this mean you cannot discuss anything politics. After all it is through the science of politics that we have democracy when so many other countries do not. I can understand not promoting candidates but not to address current events. UGH Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted October 12, 2009 Moderators Posted October 12, 2009 There is another forum for 'World Affairs' and one specifically for 'Politics'. The goal is just to keep political controversy out of the Town Hall forum. Posts about world events like natural disasters and so on are fine, but for example any post about climate change or about President Obama's Nobel Prize would quickly become a heated partisan war... and the goal is to keep that for the people who actually enjoy it. Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Define politics. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
Administrators Gail Posted October 12, 2009 Administrators Posted October 12, 2009 Define politics. :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Bravus Posted October 12, 2009 Moderators Posted October 12, 2009 We can't define it but we know it when we see it? I dunno. With a broad definition, 'the personal is political' as the feminists used to say, and we'd have to post nothing at all in Town Hall. If we define it as 'attacks on politicians or political parties', or, I guess 'lauding of politicians or political parties', that's probably a decent enough working definition to achieve the objectives of keeping Town Hall as hospitable as possible for as many as possible... {disclaimer: I speak as a private citizen of this place, not an admin} Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted October 12, 2009 Moderators Posted October 12, 2009 Perhaps extend that to attacking/lauding 'conservatives' and 'liberals' as well... Quote Truth is important
Guest Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Bravus! Are you attacking conservatives again? Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted October 12, 2009 Moderators Posted October 12, 2009 Hehe, nice filters there, sir! Um, apparently I'm also lauding them and attacking liberals... if you read the sentence right. Quote Truth is important
Members phkrause Posted October 12, 2009 Members Posted October 12, 2009 Lets see Redwood, Politics: it makes people irrational and do and say things that they would never had done and said had they remembered that they have the love of Jesus within them. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. It is in the eye of the beholder and very subjective. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
Moderators Bravus Posted October 13, 2009 Moderators Posted October 13, 2009 'tis true: which is why it's just as well we have such a wise beholder in the moderator of Town Hall Quote Truth is important

scubby Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Just a minor correction...we live in a representative republic. Quite different from a democracy. Quote
SivartM Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Then why does the pledge say "And to the non-representative democracy for which I stand"? This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
