Are those books good to read? I mean I consider them in the 'Harry Potter' section.

Ok. Good, but what if the person is looking into learning about other religions? Would they be a god educator about the rapture?

I've heard they're good as far as storyline goes. I wouldn't believe 99% of the "Bible prophecy" in them, but I don't think they're as bad as Harry Potter, since they're at least Christian books...

I consider books in the 'Harry Potter' zone as in books not good to read because of the beliefs in them or false things.

I would definitely think so, since most of the rapture people I know think the books are the best Bible prophecy books ever written...

Ok. :) Though, I also never knew that most other religions believed in the rapture... I know lots of friends form my school who don't belive in the rapture but they are not SDA either. I mean LOTS not just a few.

Most Evangelical Protestant Christians do; I don't think Catholics do. I know several protestants who don't believe in it, though.

In one sense we do believe in a rapture, cosmin, but not in the way that these movies and books say. When Jesus comes at the end of time he will rapture us up to him, but it will be when the dead in christ rise from there graves and us that are alive will meet him in the air, that is the true rapture. Not a rapture where God takes some and leaves the rest, just to come back several years later to see if they are ready than.

Thanks for that. I've got that series taped. But that piece is really powerful. Really puts that rapture stuff in its place.

One way to look at the Left Behind series vs. Harry Potter is that when you read Harry Potter, you know it's a made-up story and can be discounted from your beliefs. When you read Left Behind, you know some of it may be true, and you are left to try to filter out the true from the false, and some of it filters into your brain as you subconsciously wonder, "what if?" Therefore, I think the Left Behind series is more insidious than Harry Potter. Left Behind has influenced the beliefs of thousands of people.

Good thoughts LynnDel. I think its been influencial because many want to believe that they can live as they please and still have time after the rapture to change.

The Methodist church doesn't believe in the rapture. I grew up Methodist, and I never heard of the rapture until I became an Adventist. And it was in the Adventist church that I first heard of it.

Interesting, would never have thought that.

Actually, the Methodist church didn't really teach much of anything when I was growing up. If you took the membership class, you would find out their actual doctrinal beliefs, but otherwise you would never have known, just from going to Sunday School or listening to sermons. So everyone pretty much believed what they wanted, and could still be considered a good Methodist. So it's quite possible some Methodists believe in the rapture nowadays, but that isn't part of the church's teachings.

Well I grew up Episcopalian and I had the same experience as Catherine. But I also attended a Presbyterian youth group and that church taught rapture.

No, but I have read the book that it is supposedly based on, and it isn't in there. In fact there is one particular text that says that very plain, and another that helps dispel the confusion. But I'm not sure I'm suppose to answer you on TownHall. Maybe someone will move this whole thread over to Theology.

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 KJV

"For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay. "Acts 13:36 KJV

In one sense we do believe in a rapture,

Have to agree it will be a rapturous experience when those who have believed in Jesus as Savior will enter their last leg of the journey to heaven. However it isn't a secret rapture, as some believe, but will be visible to all who have eyesight.

"Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him"

Revelation 1:7 NIV

That may be true of a small percentage of the Christian population. However I believe it is more apt to be that many do not recognize that victories come from God's power within them as a result of an invitation given, rather than an agonizing struggle to break away from characteristics they are glad they have.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."Matthew 11:28,29 KJV

"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."Matthew 19:26 KJV

Yes Cosmin, those books are really good to read because it matches up with the Bible.

You should either read them or see the DVD's, you can get them at any Christian bookstore except the SDA bookshop.

No they don't.

No I won't.

No I haven't.

:)

I've actually met several non-SDA Christians who think that the secret rapture is false. And I obviously agree with them.

HEY COSMIN

I would not recommend them

the only reason I saw the some of the

movies was a non S.D.A. invited me

to see them ...

dgrimm60

Hey Cosmin,

I do recommend them.

Every Christian should know about the End Times, and these movies clearly explain from a biblical point of view the End Times.

Your missing out big time Cosmin if you don't.
