The Nazis were demanding an American general to surrender and his reply was simply, "Nuts." The Nazis NEVER were in a situation of demanding General George S. Patton to surrender. Not even close.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Ok--shall we make a federal case out of this? All I was trying to say was my thoughts on what John317 was the same word= NUTS

So what are you trying to say here Dr. Rich? I think we need some clarification.

I can't vote in the poll because it's not specific as to what kind of dancing and what context.

I would like to see the kind of worship dance that is done at some Messianic congregations, or the kind that king David did, or the kind that some Jews do when celebrating Simchat Torah. If people are focused on God while dancing, as David was, then it would be good to have dance-- to allow people to worship God through motion.

But if the dancers are focused on their performance, or on other people, or on what people will think of their performance, or trying to get people to "look at me", then I would vote against it.

David was apparently focused on God while he danced. His wife Michal was apparently focused on "What will people think?" Anyone who has not experienced worship as a verb will likely view all worship dance as Michal did.

Justin Kim gave a speach at ASI last night that was great! If kids want entertainment, let them go to the movies, zoo or park. Church is a place for learing what Jesus said and taught. At 12, Jesus was in the Temple communicating with the leaders and teachers. Our kids need to learn truth before they go play!

And that goes for church service too. Too much time is wasted with song service and such--while the serman only lasts 20 minustes. How about some down home preaching and teaching what Jesus said and taught for a change! Who cares who shoes get stepped on--we are wasting our time talking about dancing when we should be talking about important things. If you want dancing--go to a dance hall!

Perhaps these verses should be eliminated, rather than waste space and ink.

Ps. 149

1 Praise the LORD. [a]

Sing to the LORD a new song,

his praise in the assembly of the saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;

let the people of Zion be glad in their King.

3 Let them praise his name with dancing

and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

Ps 150

1 Praise the LORD. [a]

Praise God in his sanctuary;

praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;

praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,

praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,

praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD.

Ok, the reason is that you don't know the NEW SONG as found in Revelation 14:3. They may have been dancing back then, but there is no good reason to dance until you learn the new song. You dancing might be for the wrong god. Can you point out any dancing in Revelation?

you don't know the NEW SONG

Oh really? On what basis do you make such a claim?

Quote:
Can you point out any dancing in Revelation?

Revelation doesn't have a lot of things, since it is almost solely concerned with eschatology, and highly symbolic. Nevertheless,

Rev 15:2And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God 3and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:

"Great and marvelous are your deeds,

Lord God Almighty.

Just and true are your ways,

King of the ages.

4Who will not fear you, O Lord,

and bring glory to your name?

For you alone are holy.

All nations will come

and worship before you,

for your righteous acts have been revealed."

The song of Moses is a reference to Exodus 15, where this took place:

20 Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.

And I'm fascinated you seem to want to write Psalms out of the Bible.

We have a lady in our church who, when the music begins, cannot help but get up and move to it. I think of it as being that she is a kinesthetic type, that experiences events through movement. It is just her way and no one bothers her about it.

When I think of dancing, I think of little children, who, when they are happy, will dance. There is nothing sexual about it- it's simply an expression of their joy.

Perhaps this is what David experienced. We know that he was musically inclined, and maybe like the church member I mentioned above, experienced best kinetically.

Is that okay? I don't see why not. Far too few of us have so much joy that it causes us to dance.

dr rich wow u r really somethion else

U HAVE PUT A NEW SONG IN MY HEART ,EVEN PRAISE UNTO OUR GOD MANY SHALL SEE IT AND TRUST IN THE LORD! psalms 40:3

take this apart! the redeemed have already put their trust in GOD! SO the new song happens now!

All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD

"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

You will think twice about singing when the time of trouble smack you along the side of your face. Personally, I find is very sad (no reason to sing) when I see how many in our own church are going to reject the straight new truth because they have their heads in the sand thinking all is well.

The time for singing is when the sealing takes place.

Posted

Dr. Rich, When God gives new truth, he gives it to more than three people. In other words, it would make sense to more than three people. And it would have to line up with scripture.

So what you are saying is that during the time of trouble there will be no praising God...

Have you ever sung a song at a funeral?

I think you are seriously in your own time of trouble if you think you have no reason to sing.

And by the way, how will you know when the sealing takes place so you can start singing?

Do you sing because you are sealed or are you sealed because you sing?

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

RH--try reading Matt. 24:45. (and understand what this really says)

Many years ago when I was a youth leader in one of our churches I had a friend who wrote and sang a song called "The Dance Band on the Titanic." It was later sung by a well known rock group. I played background and will never forget the words--the people were oblivious as to the danger and death awaiting them. Only when the dance band changed the song to “Nearer my God to Thee” did they then understand their predicament.

I seriously doubt if anyone will be singing and dancing when they find out they are forever left out of the wedding feast. It is no wonder there will be gnashing of teeth at that time because these people were with everyone else in their church but were the ones making fun of those eating the food being served to them by the ONE bondservant—they thought all they needed was ‘faith’ ‘love’ and ‘grace’. What they lacked is new truth—the food that was being fed by the ONE bondservant left in charge of the Master’s house.

Who do you believe "the one bondservant" is?

And what is the "new truth" that this bondservant is feeding people?

John, he may not agree and probably will say we are all still looking, but it is my sincere opinion that the one you had a meal with the other day and you paid for it was the one. I have searched the world all over and can't find anyone else that matches this description. The new truth is the understanding of prophecy concerning the last days.

When you got married, you did not tell your soon to be to always be ready because you would show up unanounced. No, you had a date set and let your soon to be know exactly what was going to happen.

God is the same way. He lets the bride know the date by first letting His own servants know. These Servants (bondservants) then wake up the servants for the bride and let them know the date. Trouble is, half don't believe because they can't see any new truth after they trim the wick.

If you read about the "Two Atonements" on our site, then you will what is going to happen and when. No--it is NOT about time setting-but it is about time. Daniel and Revelation is all about time and is why God gave it to the bondservants. He did NOT give it to be understood by anyone wicked. (Dan. 12:10)

If people laughed and made fun of Noah, it will be much worse for those bondservants who eat the food given by the ONE left in charge of the Masters Estate.

Hey thanks Oldsailor--no, my friend was not Harry. It now appears that my friend misrepresented to me that he wrote the song or that he emblished on it. The song that he did was a little different as he started out with the actual song called nearer my God to thee in a blues beat and then this song was in the middle. It's a great song and I have or had many of Harry's records (yes they were records back then). This was the type of music I played and sang to in those days. Poor guy died way before his time though! Great message here!
