Dr. Rich Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I remember having breakfast with my kids when I heard that Harry was killed in a car accident in 1981. Then later, they said he had a heart attack which caused the wreck. I remember later they had a big tribute and that is when I learned more about Harry Chapin. He was famous for his story telling music. This was what I grew up with in Boulder Colorado. The "Back Porch Majority" were what a small group of us tried to copy at Union College in 65 and 66. We had fun enteraining ourselves because the school didn't like our music. I played 5 string banjo and 12 string guitar. It didn't last long--I got drafted and we all split up. Now musicman had concerts and his group was rated one of best at the time. We play some of the songs on our radio shows. When I moved to California is when I teamed up with the guy who took other writers music and changed them to fit into more of a religious setting. His randition of Dance Band on the Titanic was really good. We also did John Denver stuff and lots of funny stuff. I loved to play for the campfires for kids--I still do now for my grandkids. Quote
