LifeHiscost Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 [size:11pt]Seems some people are equating church with heaven. Just because someone is a member in good standing, it doesn't automatically mean they will be saved. And just because someone is disfellowshipped, it doesn't mean they are not saved. Removing someone's name from the church books is not removing them from heaven's books. Churches have to have standards of conduct for their members. But at the same time everyone should realize that being a church member does not mean salvation. "...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."Romans 10:9 NKJV And that's a promise, announced by the Apostle Paul in the name of the Lord Jesus. Is it you, oldsailor29, that doesn't accept Paul? Promise, good! Disbelief, bad! Regards Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I've never seen you laugh that hard LHC. It has something to do with this forum. Besides___ "All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast. Proverbs 15:15 NKJV "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Proverbs 17:22 NKJV BTW Something happened yesterday that makes it easy for me to be jubilant today. I'm going to start a new topic, but not quite sure which forum it should be on. To be continued?????????? Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I'll be watching for it. Since I'm chief cook and bottle washer around here, I have to leave for now since it's my turn to cook. Hope you're having a Happy Sabbath with all the laughter. Is laughter kosher on the Sabbath? Sounds like a theme for a new topic. If you'll start it I'll join you later. Blessings! Guest Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I'll wait for you. I wouldn't want to start without you. Besides it's your topic. Quote

Woody Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 this seems to be going from the topic title to how or when to get rid of the tares. This is a common thread amongst conservative legalists and perfectionists. They want to get rid of them tares immediately. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
BobRyan Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 That is a pretty strong accusation - where is the post that supports it. Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Stewart (SDA) Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 May I ask how it is we are to treat one who is a heathen or a publican? Interesteting Question. My first thoughts relate to the Publicans. 1.. "Two men went up to the Temple to pray", one was a respected man, a Pharisee, and the other was a Publican. When Jesus gave His lesson about these two men, He says, at least to me, that Publicans were free to enter into the house of God, and to pray in the same area that the Pharisee's prayed in. (If we are to treat somebody as a "Publican" it does not mean that he is to be excluded or excommunicated from the house of God.) 2.. Matthew was a Publican wasn't he? And if I remember rightly, Matthew was about his work when Jesus called him. Jesus did not avoid or shun such people. _____________ But in more general terms, my understanding about what it means to treat somebody as a heathen man and a publican is to treat him as a worldly man who knows little or nothing about God. Such a man is therefore to be treated respectfully and gently, and true religion should not be pushed beyond the milk that is due an infant. Stewart Quote
Stewart (SDA) Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Another little thought if I may. Perfection of character (conscious innocence before God) is not the same as never being wrong on some point of knowledge or doctrine, is it? To be without sin, in my view, does not mean that we are without "imperfect knowledge". Sinlessness is not the same as Omniscience (all knowing). Stewart Quote

One I agree with but have never put down on paper in so understandable terms. "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.
