This forum appear to be one of "Hate" and innuendos, not facts or any supporting data.

This section can get a little rough. Political opinions often cause temper to flare. That is simply the reality of the world we live in. No one has to participate here but everyone is invited to do so. If a particular member annoys you, put them on ignore or simply skip over their posts without reading them.

I tend not to read long wordy posts nor do I read every thread. So if someone is being offensive, please let me know.

What we do get here, that isn't available other places, is an exchange of political ideas among Adventist believers that is open. Often times people do not share what they really think around the potluck table because they are afraid of confrontation. Here, most of us are relatively safe behind our computer monitors and fee more secure in expressing our political thoughts.

Amen on the potluck thing. I never really thought of it that way, but politics is best left alone there.

I think the conservatives have went off into the paranoia area a little bit over the President addressing school children. The President should be a good role model for school children and this one is. President Obama is pretty much a self-made man. Of course he had help from his family but he didn't get anything handed to him. He worked for what he has in life. He dreamed big and achieved big.

The "serve the President" video in the beginning of the thread is, in my opinion, a little over the top. I have no problem with interest groups running such an ad on TV stations but putting it into our public schools seems to border on hero worship. This is the kind of thing we see in dictatorships where everyone is to pledge allegiance to the dictator. It just seems in bad taste to me.

What sent many and not just conservatives over the top is the "pledge to Obama" and other comments in the media. That really did it. In addition we have a president that writes the rules as he goes.

If the only example was his by-passing the school board for this address to the students it may have gone unnoticed.

But as many things in other area's he by passes the way to accomplish something and does it his own way. As in placing a self proclaimed communist in a position of no accountability

Then why find fault with conservatives, the bad taste and knowing now how Obama does things how are they any different than you?

Maybe they should take the route democrats did with Bush and call for hearings

Thanks Shane for your insight.

Yea, you're right.... Actually, I am more of a serene kind of person, has nothing to do with politics, it's just how I am...

not really confrontational. It is an interesting forum and your topics are very good...However I think I want to realistically look at the situation we're in and work within the infastructure,to try and make it what we want. I'm a do'er.

All the members that participate on this site have valid concerns and passions for their issues as they understand them. I actually

commend their determination to be heard and articulate their concerns. I joined this Adventist Forum because, I wanted to share and participate in discussions about our love for the Lord. I am a

student of the bible and I am looking to all avenues to

gain more understanding.

This forum is just a little too rough for me, I don't want to lose my focus..

Be Blessed,

Your Sister in Christ.

Be Blessed.

No, I didn't get any message. I am notified when this happens on the Spanish site but I am an administrator there. Perhaps only the administrators are notified. If that be the case, it is best to notify me with a PM unless an administrator here can change it so moderators are notified.

OK, the notify button is now working. So anyone seeing abuse can notify me by clicking on it. However the notice goes to my personal email and I don't check it all that frequently.

Bonnie: I would like to see you use a little nicer tone. We do have "thin skinned" people that come here. Try to make your points without being brash. I will give examples here of what makes me uncomfortable.

Sorry if you are so thinned skin. Maybe someone disagreeing with you makes you uncomfortable but that is a democracy isn't it.

That seems quite degrading and sarcastic. It comes off as if the other member should apologize for being offended. Instead of attacking the other person, we can just say something like "my remarks were not meant to offend... my point is..."

Maybe your time would be better spent in checking out Obama's stats

This comment was made after another member just got done saying she took the time to read the entire thread. I think the comment is sarcastic and uncalledfor. Now you were being accused of being unChristian and I can understand how you would get defensive over that. Let's remember, a soft answer turneth away rath. Let's not fight fire with fire. That only increases the conflict, it nevers resolves it.

Imagine you are sitting across a potluck table and having the same discussion. Proof-read your posts and ask yourself if you would say the same thing in person at a church potluck. Do not post when you are upset or offended.

I value the contributions of everyone in this forum and don't want anyone to leave but we need to taper our remarks, avoid sarcasm and remember there is a real person someplace with real feelings reading our posts.

Do you mean like this statement.......

..I don't see that from you...IOWs, by this definition, you a can be concidered a wingnut. You ought to fit well with Bonnie, Mr. Ed, Richard, Timewarp et al here.

I can live with that easy enough

Nothing degrading about being thin skinned as far as I know.

Checking stats had nothing to do with reading the thread. Zeta

seemed to question the falling poll numbers for Obama.

I was not trying to turn away wrath. It didn't strike me as wrath

I was neither offended or upset.

I am assuming this means all,or is it reserved for those that

disagree with Neil. And you find remarks such as this not worthy of your mention

Can you imagine had I said this to someone?? Or something like the following.....

Give it a rest Bonnie!!! End the propaganda.

We recognize that no rational explanation or analysis is going to be acceptable to you. Prehaps there is more going on with you.

This is nice, obviously disagreement and dislike of Obama's policies has to be paranoia and racist. Note that Neil claims to have seen this here. Perhaps he needs to be required to back up what he said

And what you miss is that this is either conservative paranoia or it is racial bias. You guys get to choose which you prefer...racists or paranoids...I don't like those choices personally. And I would hate to use them.....but facts are facts and we have seen it here on Club Adventist...

Why not, if it accomplishes what you think it will, why don't they. I was not for the hearings than, and would not be for them now. All we are seeing is stupidity by both sides. The demos went after Bush, so now let us righteous republicans go after Obama. That's what I see, two sides that are both self centered and righteous, and have followers who buy into it.

I am sure that is why some objected. Not all by any means.

His final speech was harmless, that is not what most I know were objecting to,dems as well as republicans.

HIs intended speech coming on the heels of the "I pledge to serve Obama" you tube was not what many wanted their kids to hear. Had something like that happened or was planned to happen in our schools with my kids I would have yanked them. "I pledge to serve Jan Paulsen would not have done it for me

What was said was nothing more than what has been said before.

Regardless of the president doing it is nothing more than a photo op as far as I am concerned. I am sure the kids may get a charge out of it temporarily and maybe a very small number are permanently influenced

They all make sure they get plenty of those and it is just part of the process.

However don't throw anything at man that is "Pledging to serve a Man" regardless of who that man is

If you see a post that is offensive, feel free to hit the notify button and I will review it. I may not get to it for a day but I will look at it. You are not the only one I have addressed and what was stated earlier should be taken to heart.
