Twilight Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 In Ezekiel chapter 28 we find a description of two characters. 1. The Prince of Tyrus. 2. The King of Tyrus. Now it is the traditional view that the Prince of Tyrus (as I understand), is Satan himself. But I would say that only the King of Tyrus specifically states that. Who or what do you think the Prince of Tyrus is? Is it Satan himself? Is it Satan represented through his influence on a leader? Is it the head of the "babylonian system" (ie a Pope like figure etc). What I find interesting is that the description of the destruction of the Prince of Tyrus, closely matches the description of the destruction of the whore of Babylon in Revelation. I would welcome any thoughts on this. Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Guest Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Verse 2 says he is a man. Then in verse 11 it addresses the King of Tyrus. Why would it talk about them seperately if they were the same? Plus they die differently. Quote
Twilight Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 Verse 2 says he is a man. Then in verse 11 it addresses the King of Tyrus. Why would it talk about them seperately if they were the same? Plus they die differently. It does seem to present these two individuals as seperate people. I need to find the reference in Revelation about the destruction of Babylon later if I can. I have to do some work now. But will catch up later. I would like to compare the Prince of Tyrus' destruction with the destruction of Babylon and see if there are common points. Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Lutz13 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Want to see something else that is interesting? "Those who see you will gaze at you, and consider you, saying: 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, who made the world as a wilderness and destroyed its cities, who did not open the house of his prisoners"(Isaiah 14:16-17) Yes! The time is coming when people will look at him and go..."you're a man, not a god..." When will that be? Probably after they bow down and God has revealed everything to them... This actually ties into Ezekiel 28 very well. Quote

Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 I am goint to post some points here this afternoon on the identity of the Prince of Tyrus. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 We first have to let Scripture provide the identity, by comparing scripture with scripture: Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart [is] lifted up, and thou hast said, I [am] a God, I sit [in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou [art] a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: Let us consider this: 2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Let us consider this: We know that the man of sin represents the Religious movement that is going to rule the world for a period soon, in the guise of the Papacy. So the Prince of Tyre is symbolic and a prophetic statement about the man of sin. Consider these two simple sentances: I [am] a God, I sit [in] the seat of God so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God More to follow... Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 Let us look at this from the SOP. Is the Prince of Tyrus the man of sin? "The mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." "Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:. . . . therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God." {RH, April 19, 1898 par. 4} The time is fast approaching when this scripture will be fulfilled. The world and the professedly Protestant churches are in this our day taking sides with the man of sin; and to those who have the light of the commandments of God is the message given, "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. . . . For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works." The great issue that is coming will be on the seventh-day Sabbath. This day God would have us reverence. "I am the Lord your God," he declared; "walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God." {RH, April 19, 1898 par. 5} Points to consider: 1. The prince of Tyrus is destroyed when Jesus comes: then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." "Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; 2. This "movement" or the "man of sin" will be taken down into the pit, into death because it has been destroyed by the men around it: thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, 3. Ellen White then state the above is about to approach soon, its fulfillment is soon here and linked it specifically to the apostasy of the man of sin: The time is fast approaching when this scripture will be fulfilled. The world and the professedly Protestant churches are in this our day taking sides with the man of sin; More to follow. Mark :-) Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 A General Movement Represented.--I ask our people to study the twenty-eighth chapter of Ezekiel. The representation here made, while it refers primarily to Lucifer, the fallen angel, has yet a broader significance. Not one being, but a general movement, is described, and one that we shall witness. A faithful study of this chapter should lead those who are seeking for truth to walk in all the light that God has given to His people, lest they be deceived by the deceptions of these last days (Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 17, p. 30). {4BC 1162.8} 2, 6-10. Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 Now lest us compare scripture with the SOP: The people see that they have been deluded. They accuse one another of having led them to destruction; but all unite in heaping their bitterest condemnation upon the ministers. Unfaithful pastors have prophesied smooth things; they have led their hearers to make void the law of God and to persecute those who would keep it holy. Now, in their despair, these teachers confess before the world their work of deception. The multitudes are filled with fury. "We are lost!" they cry, "and you are the cause of our ruin"; and they turn upon the false shepherds. The very ones that once admired them most will pronounce the most dreadful curses upon them. The very hands that once crowned them with laurels will be raised for their destruction. The swords which were to slay God's people are now employed to destroy their enemies. Everywhere there is strife and bloodshed. {Mar 294.3} Please compare the above to this: Eze 28:7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. Eze 28:8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of [them that are] slain in the midst of the seas. Eze 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I [am] God? but thou [shalt be] a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. skyblue888 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Mark, I don't mean to be on your case, as you might think, but why do you want to go to the Greek experts or to the theologians to decide this matter? Generally speaking, we should know by experience, what the theologians are all about when they use their so-called Greek knowledge to explain the Scriptures. Mrs. White had no such knowledge and the Lord used her mightily. I am not saying that using Greek and Hebrew would be wrong but I am not convinced that we should let Greek and Hebrew decide this matter because the Lord has already spoken on the matter through His servant the prophet. Even those who use Hebrew and Greek don't often agree. Mrs. White clearly stated that the representation made in Ezekiel 28 refers primarily to Lucifer, the fallen angel. The word "primarily" means "essentially, mostly, chiefly, principally." She does not even mention Tyrus at all. This shows that it was written especially and primarily with Lucifer in mind. And yet my dear brother Mark you are expressing doubts as to whether this chapter refers to Lucifer or not!!! "I ask our people to study the 28th chapter of Ezekiel. The representation here made, while it refers primarily to Lucifer, the fallen angel, has yet a broader significance." The broader significance in the secondary application has do do with the omega of apostasy in the church of God in these last days. What Lucifer did in Heaven will be done by those whom God has entrusted with truths pregnant with eternal results. In fact this apostasy has been in progress ever since 1888 but reached a critital point when the pillars of our faith were compromised in 1957 in order to gain friendship with the worldly churches, the churches that constitute Babylon. Lucifer had impeached God and thought to establish a new organization. Through leading men Satan has succeeded in establishing a new organization among us. Books of a new order have been written since 1957 and a system of intellectual philosophy has been introduced. She saw that nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. Their foundation would be built on the sand and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. And then she asks, "Who as authority to begin such a movment?" We have a truth that admits no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth? (The sanctuary truth) But in the providence of God, the errors that have been coming in must be met. Just as Satan thought to change God's order in Heaven and will be swept away in the end, just so this new movement and organization will be swept away by storm and tempest after the close of probation. We already know that the representation in Ezekiel refers primarily to Satan and in that chapter as well as in Isaiah 12:12ff we are told that Satan will fall at the hand of the most terrible of the nations after the 1000 years. He will die in the midst of the wicked never to rise again. Why would anyone who believes in the Scriptures and in the Testimonies of God's Spirit want to question what has already been made plain and clear, that Satan is the primary figure in Ezekiel 28 and that he will finally come to an end when the multitudes of the wicked shall turn upon him and his angels with the fury of demons. Even in G.C.672 Mrs. White quotes Ezekiel 28 and makes a direct reference to Lucifer and how he will fall and die at the hand of the wicked at the end of the thousand years. sky "To a great degree, theology, as studied and taught, is but a record of human speculation, serving only to darken counsel by words without knowledge." M.H.443. And don't forget that they use Greek and Hebrew to explain the Scriptures and more often then not they contradict the Testimonies and even the Scriptures themselves. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Twilight Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 So as I study this out. I see that the representation of the Prince of Tyrus is a prophetic representation of the "man of sin". The destruction that falls on the man of sin, is exactly the same as the destruction that falls on the Prince of Tyre. So some initial thoughts: Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart [is] lifted up, and thou hast said, I [am] a God, I sit [in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou [art] a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: This links to the man of sin in 2 Thess. -------------------------------------------- Eze 28:3 Behold, thou [art] wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: Does not the Papacy attack the prophecies of Daniel and try to re-interpret them, is not the Babylonian "wise" men, still trying to gain precedence over the plain truths of the bible? Denouncing Daniels plain utterances and claiming higher wisdom? -------------------------------------------- Eze 28:4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: Eze 28:5 By thy great wisdom [and] by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: Did not the whore have the same traits: Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Rev 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: -------------------------------------------- Eze 28:6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; Again we are taken to 2 Thess 2:3-4 -------------------------------------------- Eze 28:7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. This links with this: Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. ------------------------------------------ So in conclusion, the prince of Tyre is none other than the "man of sin" or the "whore of Babylon". Mark Eze 28:10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken [it], saith the Lord GOD. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
skyblue888 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Mark, as we have already noticed from the pen of inspiration, "the prince of Tyrus," in the representation of Ezekiel 28 refers primarily to Lucifer, the fallen angel. This is the true interpretation. It is Lucifer himself who was behind the prince of Tyrus to twart the purpose of God, and who inspired the Jews to crucify Christ, and it also him who has been working through the leaders of the professed church of Christ to establish a new organization, and it is also him who works through the man of sin. This is the real "prince of Tyrus" who has been behind the scenes ever since his fall in Heaven and it is him who will die at the hand of all the unsaved after the 1000 years just as the man of sin will die at the very hand of those who will have given him their support until the time of the fifth plague when they will realize that they have been deceived and they will turn upon the man of sin and against the leaders of all the apostate churches with the fury of demons. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." skyblue888 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Just as the ministers and leading men of all the churches who will have apostatized from the truth in these last days will fall at the hand of those whom they had deceived, so will Satan and his angels, the real ministers of iniquity, fall and die at the hand of the most terrible of the nations after the 1000 years at the time of the executive judgement. Since the fall Satan and his angels have been standing toward the sinner as the executioners of the sentence against transgression but now it will be the turn of the unsaved of all ages to become the executioners of the sentence against Satan and his angels. Mark, Holy Writ could not be any clearer, Satan will die in the midst of the nations who will turn upon him. This fact cannot be controverted. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

This is the real "prince of Tyrus" who has been behind the scenes ever since his fall in Heaven and it is him who will die at the hand of all the unsaved after the 1000 years just as the man of sin will die at the very hand of those who will have given him their support until the time of the fifth plague when they will realize that they have been deceived and they will turn upon the man of sin and against the leaders of all the apostate churches with the fury of demons. sky Eze 28:2-10 is a representation of the Prince of Tyrus, the man of sin (this is Satans working through the man of sin). So the destruction mentioned here is the destruction of the man of sin. Eze 28:11-19 is the specific account of Satan in person. So the destruction here is the an account of the destruction of Satan. This is the only conclusion I can come to, letting the bible interpret itself. Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
