olger Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Read this quote this morning. "Many know so little about their Bibles that they are unsettled in the faith. They remove the old landmarks, and fallacies and winds of doctrine blow them hither and thither. Science, falsely so called, is wearing away the foundation of Christian principle; and those who were once in the faith drift away from the Bible landmarks, and divorce themselves from God, while still claiming to be His children."--Review and Herald, Dec. 29, 1896. Members phkrause Posted October 27, 2009 Members Posted October 27, 2009 That's very interesting Olger, could've been written yesterday, because it still applies today. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. The Searcher Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I was reading a book on reaching out to the younger generation for Christ, and although there is a high percentage of people who declare themselves Christian in the United States, less than 5% of all Christians including SDA's, have read the Bible. I find this to be an amazing statistic. The Bible declares that life eternal belongs to those who know God and the one whom He sent. How can they hope for salvation if they do not take time to know God? Sincerely, Seafarer Quote

The Searcher Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Dear Gentlemen and Ladies, I work for a premier university in Texas, and I can assure you that you must be very careful to whom you speak about your understanding of origins. It can cost you your job. Do not underestimate the problem. But it also indicates a certain degree of uncertainty. If your evolutionary position was unassailable, then why use all means to remove people from positions in the university who disagree with you. Only people who have a very poor pool of evidence would use courts and hr to remove those who would challenge their authority and so-called science. Their position is weak, and their use of intimidation indicates that they know it. Sincerely, The Searcher Quote
SivartM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 They would probably try to get rid of "scientists" who thought the sky was a vast sea of Kool-Aid, too, but probably not because they thought that their own position on the composition of the sky was weak. You can say that again! When Jesus and the Bible are lifted up "Science so called" is put in its proper place. SDA's today are not the Bible students that our pioneers were. It is as though we think that our teachings have not changed since 1844 or that the devil has not slanted some of our pure doctrines ever so slightly. So we take for granted that everything is as it should be without looking any deeper into the mines of truth. But I recall reading that though the Church appears that it is about to fall, it will make it through to the Kingdom victorious. Yet not so for all the members. As I read the parable about the 10-Virgins; I read that all 10 were Virgins; pure; hoping for the Lord Jesus to come; but not ready. If the Virgins depict the church, the parable warns that half of us will be lost when the Bridegroom COMES. Is that a literal number?
