True - God is the same.

The same God that spared Adam and Eve -- and expelled Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels.

The same God that spared Cain -- and destroyed the entire world by a flood.

The same God that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah - and spared Lot.

The same God that gave Israel victory in Caanan -- then had foreign nations wipe them out.

The same God that died on the cross - and then destroys all the wicked "by the sword that comes from His mouth" in Rev 19.

The same God that raises all the wicked dead - and then rains fire and brimstone on them in a Lake of Fire event in Rev 20.

As Christ said in Mat 10:28 "Fear Him who is able to destroy BOTH body AND soul in fiery hell".

The same Christ who died on the Cross as the savior for all -

in Christ,

Bob

Sorry Bob but this is Dark Ages mode of thinking. In what are you differing from the papal prelates then? This is how they read the Scriptures. But they are not as guilty as we are since we have been given light as to how to read and understand this language.

You guys read these passages of Scripture as though God was altogether like sinful beings.

"You have thought that I was altogether like you." Psalm 50:21.

Sky - I gave a list of examples of what the ONE God has done throughout human history. The list points to the fact that you cannot simply pick-and-choose closing an eye to one part of the list while accepting the other.

The equivocation you are making with the pope does not work. It would be like saying that Baptists should not read the Bible - because after all - the Pope reads the Bible.

It is not compelling to ignore the Bible points raised and then settle for merely appealing to 'the pope'.

Sorry but I don't pick-and-choose. I simply apply the principles that God has revealed to us to interpret His word.

You are not doing that.

What many of us are doing is reading the Bible like the Jews did in the days of Christ or the Catholic priests and prelates in the Dark Ages. The Baptists are no different and the Adventists are no better, generally speaking, for "The understanding of the people of God has been blinded. Our good and gracious Lord has been presented before the people clothed in the attributes of Satan." 1 S.M.355

Why do you think Jesus said, "You understand neither the Scriptures nor the power of God"?

Jesus spoke these words more for us than for the Jews!

He was looking down the ages, His eye was fixed upon our time!

Jesus was the greatest of the prophets. So what He said was spoken more for us than for the Jews.

And we read:

"Each of the ancient prophets spoke less for their own time than for ours, so that their prophesying is in force for us." 3 S.M.338.

"All the great events and solemn transactions of Old Testament have been and are repeating themselves in the Church in these last days." 3 S.M.339.

"The prophets of God spoke less for their own time than for the ages to come, and especially for the generation that would live amid the last scenes of this earth's history." ST Vol.3, p.445.

"The Lord has declared that the history of the past shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing work." 2 S.M.390.

"The experience of the church in former ages has lessons of great value for our own time." G.C.343.

So let us beware of the traditional view which is the popular view or the view of the majority for it has never been on the side of truth.

When Jesus said, "You understand neither the Scriptures nor the power of God," He was exposing the teachings of the religious teachers of his day as false and misleading. They too had a misconception of the character of God and presented Him clothed in the attributes of Satan as in the Dark Ages that followed.

This is why a message from God is to be proclaimed at this time, illuminating in its influence and saving in its power. His character is to be made known. It has been misunderstood and misinterpreted as tradition and misinterpretation have obscured the teaching of the Bible concerning the character of God, the nature of His government, and the principles of His dealing with sin. See C.O.L.415; G.C.492,593.

There will be those once united with us in the faith who will search for new, strange doctrines, for something odd and sensational to present to the people. They will bring in all conceivable fallacies, and will present them as coming from Mrs. White, that they may beguile souls. {PM 359}

"When one ray of light is disregarded there is a partial benumbing of the spiritual perceptions and the second revealing of light is less clearly discerned. The darkness increases until it is night in the soul." D.A.322.

"What Pharaoh has done will be done again and again by men until the close of probation. God destroys no man; but when a man stifles conviction, when he turns away from evidence, he is sowing unbelief and will reap as he has sown." RH Vol.6,285.

"Closely connected with Christ's warning in regard to the sin against the Holy Spirit is a warning against idle and evil words. The words are an indication of that which is in the heart. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." But the words are more than an indication of character; they have power to react on the character. Men are influenced by their own words. Often under a momentary impulse, prompted by Satan, they give utterance to jealousy or evil surmising, expressing that which they do not really believe; but the expression reacts on the thoughts. They are deceived by their words, and come to believe that true which was spoken at Satan's instigation. Having once expressed an opinion or decision, they are often too proud to retract it, and try to prove themselves in the right, until they come to believe that they are. It is dangerous to utter a word of doubt, dangerous to question and criticize divine light. The habit of careless and irreverent criticism reacts upon the character, in fostering irreverence and unbelief. Many a man indulging this habit has gone on unconscious of danger, until he was ready to criticize and reject the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, "Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." D.A.323.

The saints in unison with Jesus pass their judgment upon the wicked dead. Behold ye! said the angel, the saints sit in judgment, in unison with Jesus, and mete out to each of the wicked, according to the deeds done in the body, and it is set off against their names what they must receive, at the execution of the judgment. This, I saw, was the work of the saints with Jesus, in the Holy City before it descends to the earth, through the 1000 years. {RH, November 1, 1850 par. 5}

Yes I agree, but sky is convinced that he has new light on how to interpret the Bible.

I agree with you that God removes his restraining power and allows Satan to take control of the wicked. But that alone does not account for the Seven Last Plagues coming on the people who worship the Beast and his image. The "one great, final trouble" is in addition to the Seven Last Plagues. It all happens at the same time, but the "trouble" that Satan plunges the world into is not identical to the Seven Last Plagues. Satan is not working hand in glove with God.

Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.

I was pointed back to the children of Israel anciently and saw how pure and holy the ministers of the sanctuary had to be, because they were brought by their work into a close connection with God. They that minister must be holy, pure, and without blemish, or God will destroy them. God has not changed. He is just as holy and pure, just as particular, as He ever was. {EW 102}

She did not waste her time writing things like this just so someone else could come along and say: "God has never destroyed and never will."

And don't refer me to your new method of interpreting scripture, that is nothing but heresy, plain and simple.

She did not waste her time writing things like this just so someone else could come along and say: "God has never destroyed and never will."

It's been pointed out several times that this characterization is incorrect. If you presented the idea as "God does not violently destroy," that would be agreed to.

The question is not "Does God destroy?," but "How does God destroy?" Does He do so according to the principles of force and violence, or by the principles of love and truth?

Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.

The Bible says with FIRE, so does Ellen White. Where you go wrong is in thinking you can change the interpretation of both.

At the close of the thousand years the second resurrection will take place. Then the wicked will be raised from the dead, and appear before God for the execution of "the judgment written.".....

The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. "Upon the wicked he shall rain quick burning coals, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup." Fire comes down from God out of heaven. The earth is broken up. The weapons concealed in its depths are drawn forth. Devouring flames burst from every yawning chasm. The very rocks are on fire. The day has come that shall burn as an oven. The elements melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein are burned up. The wicked "shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts." All are punished "according to their deeds." {SW, March 14, 1905 par. 12}

"I was shown that the judgments of God would not come directly out from the Lord upon the wicked but in this way--they place themselves beyond His protection."

The judgments of God do not come directly out from the Lord upon the wicked. That is clear. This is a ray of heavenly light that we would be foolish to disregard.

After the 1000 years Satan and and his evil angels will not be protected from the unsaved of all ages when they turn upon them with the fury of demons.

Why would the Lord Himself tell us in His Word, (Ezekiel 28:7-10; Isaiah 14:15-19) and in the SoP (G.C.672) that the unsaved of all ages will turn upon Satan and his angels with the fury of demons at the time of the executive judgment if it was impossible for them to touch them?

In this ensuing battle of all ages, a battle greater than all the battles of the past combined, fire will come down from the first heaven upon them to consume them all. This fire, coming from nature out of control and from their own deadly weapons which they had constructed to take over the City of God, will unite with the fire coming from below the ground. It will not come directly out from the Lord upon them. That we may be sure of because the Lord Himself has said so.

It is dangerous to utter a word of doubt, to question or criticize divine light.

Where does it say that they kill Satan?
