LifeHiscost Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Well ... she sure does look good. And the Lord does forgive. I just don't understand her motivation to sue the pageant. Perhaps if she had no covetousness, her previous life may have been left only in the memory of the One willing to forgive. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 5, 2009 Members Posted November 5, 2009 Maybe she wants to cash in on what she can while she still has her good looks and people would stand behind her. LifeHiscost Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Maybe she wants to cash in on what she can while she still has her good looks and people would stand behind her. Everything eventually will fall... *cough cough*... Would you say then, if suing is the only way to cash in, since they won't freely give, go for it? Just asking in order to find the principle that makes that option the best. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 6, 2009 Members Posted November 6, 2009 My personal opinion is that it is HER decision. Not mine. It could be the whole thing is a publicity stunt. And there's very little principle involved. IMHO Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. LifeHiscost Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 And there's very little principle involved. IMHO Would we then be judgmental to consider the possibility that there could be more trouble around the corner for her as she appears to be almost unprincipled? Dr. Shane Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Remember she was offered a bunch of money to make such an X-rated movie. I wonder if this movie was made before the controversy or if she accepted all that cash to make it after the controversy broke. In any case, one hopes the lesson from all this to aspiring beauties is that X-rated films will kill their career. Sadly, I don't think many will see it that way. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 OK, the sex tape was a home video taken by her ex-boyfriend. She is alone in the video. According to reports, it is pretty raunchy but such home videos are certainly not uncommon. From reports, it is not as bad as the Paris Hilton or Pamela Anderson home-sex videos that found their way to the public. Of course we, as Christians, believe pre-martial sex is bad. I don't know if Carrie Prejean ever claimed to be a virgin. However, do we believe making home-sex videos is bad? I tend to see that as an individual's choice. I think it foolish to do so with someone they are not married to and when married they need to keep such a video under lock and key but I see no problems with making a private home video in and of itself. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 6, 2009 Administrators Posted November 6, 2009 Well, so much for the moral high ground she seemed to want people to see her as occupying... SivartM Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 How long ago did she make the video? If it was before the whole Miss California fiasco, I don't see why anyone should be too bent out of shape. Where are all the people who interviewed her when she was on the verge of canonization, to ask her now if she's sorry about the video she made? Woody Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 well ... I still like Carrie. (Or maybe it's just her looks ... I dunno) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Morally, I don't see a problem with making the video. I do see a problem with pre-marital sex but that is not what the "outrage" seems to be about. Is the home video somehow worse than the pre-marital sex? I say no. This was not a professional video she made to be sold. She was "in love" with some guy and let him tape her doing some raunchy stuff. The only problem I see with that is that they were not married. It certainly doesn't disqualify her to have a position on gay marriage. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I have a question for Bravus, and other loving fathers like him. How would you react if your daughter had premarital sex with her boyfriend, let him make a sex video of her and then later released the video to the public? Would you condemn your daughter and say she no longer has the right to take a position on moral issues? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Members phkrause Posted November 7, 2009 Members Posted November 7, 2009 My daughter has already gone down that road. But she was at an age that I could not tell she could or couldn't. She knew how her mother and me felt about it. She wound up getting pregnant also. We were very disappointed in her but loved her anyway. Don't know what or how we would react if there was a video of the event. But more than likely again, be very disappointed. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Are we now condemning all Christians that get breast implants? Now if a woman gets breast implants she cannot be a Christian? Sorry, I know Christians that have breast implants and I would never question their faith in God. Of course, this thread is about the sex video she made with her boyfriend. Again, I have a problem with the pre-marital sex. I have no problem with the video. A lot of lovers make those kinds of videos. That is no big deal. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Beauty Queen Carrie Prejean 'silenced by sex tape' Quote: According to TMZ, Carrie Prejean demanded more than a million dollars during her settlement negotiations with Miss California USA Pageant until the Pageant lawyer presented her with a XXX sex tape of which she is the star... Apparently it took her about 15 seconds to withdraw her demands and accept a $100,000 payout, all of which covers the cost of her lawyers, leaving her with nothing. Doesn't that sound a lot like blackmail? This is very sloppy reporting. This link doesn't even mention that the so-called "XXX sex tape" was a home video. (CNN) Apparently it was a video her ex-boyfriend made of her masturbating and the Miss California USA Pagant used that video to get Carrie to drop her law suit against them. Well, at least she doesn't have to pay for her implants like they wanted her to. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators Bravus Posted November 7, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 7, 2009 I'm not particularly judging her behaviour in any particular direction, except possibly reminding us that Jesus said 'let the one who is without sin cast the first stone'. Perhaps if Miss Prejean had been saving more of her moral energy for her own sexuality she wouldn't have been placed in the position of being a judge of other people's... which then came back to bite her. Quote Truth is important
there buster Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Quote: in the position of being a judge of other people's. Let's see what sort of a judge she was. Here's her statement: Quote: Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I think I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman. It's important to remember that she didn't volunteer this statement, it was in a response to the question. So, please, either show me what's 'judgmental' about that statement, or have the good grace to admit she did no such thing. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I think that is an important point. She was thrust into the debate. She was in a beauty contest - not exactly a moral crusade. Once thrust into the debate she did accept speaking invitation from moral crusaders like Focus on the Family but can we blame her for that? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators Bravus Posted November 7, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 7, 2009 Yes, my comment was not about that initial response, but about the crusade from that point onward and about her willing connivance in making herself the poster girl for opposition to gay marriage. And yes, Shane, I believe we *can* blame her for that. She knew about her own life. She knew this tape existed, she knew she had fallen short of the highest standards of sexual morality in terms of marriage. She ought therefore to have been modest and cautious in making moral judgements of other people... working out her own salvation with fear and trembling, not trumpeting the wrongs of others. Quote Truth is important
Dr. Shane Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I see nothing wrong with the tape. Lots of lovers make home videos. While *I* believe pre-marital sex is sinful, most of society disagrees with me. What I hear being said is that since she had sex with her boyfriend before marriage she has no right to publicly come out against same-sex marriage. Some may be surprised by this but I believe most people that voted against same-sex marriage had sex before marriage. While I did not have sex with my wife before marriage, I wasn't a virgin when I got married. Does that disqualify me to publicly come out against same-sex marriage? Reverend Pat Robertson had pre-marital sex. Does that disqualify him from publicly coming out against same-sex marriage? Carrie Prejean had premarital sex and let her boyfriend make a tape of her playing with herself (obviously for him). The news in this story is that the Miss California USA Pageant used the tape to blackmail her. From the looks of things, if the Pageant hadn't had this tape, Carrie Prejean would have won her law suit. After all, they paid her legal fees and didn't get the money for her implants.
