bonnie Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I'm wondering if you and some others would be as eager to stand up for her and defend her actions if she hadn't spoken out on gay marriage and conseqently so readily embraced by and adopted as a poster child for the anti-gay right wing crowd... I strongly suspect that she would have been kicked to the curb and everyone would have walked right on by without a second thought... Maybe it is more because she lost the right to give her opinion when asked when previous actions of hers came to light. How does being opposed to gay marriage demand she be perfect in her life? Or how does answering a question put to her make her deserving of what the questioner leveled at her. If I remember she didn't offer, was not rude or condmening, just answered a question Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. Moderators Bravus Posted November 8, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 8, 2009 She's welcome to give her opinion on anything she likes. But she broke her contract in a number of ways - no porn or nudity of any kind is allowed in pageant participants and they sign a contract to that effect, and she had (partially) nude commercial photos floating around in addition to this private video - and she also missed appearances she was contracted to make on behalf of the pageant. No-one is trying to silence her opinion. But I do admit there is an element of schadenfreude when someone who has been loudly championed by Focus on the Family is shown to be a sinner (like all of us). These people are very happy to try to legislate their own version of morality for everyone else in the community, while failing to embrace it in their own lives. As I mentioned before, Jesus' comment is typically pithy and accurate: "Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone". At least the Pharisees had the grace to hang their heads and walk away... bonnie Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Quote: She's welcome to give her opinion on anything she likes. This began with the question put to her.If she violated her contract that is between her and the other parties.Has nothing to do with whether she is for or against gay marriage. Quote: No-one is trying to silence her opinion. But I do admit there is an element of schadenfreude when someone who has been loudly championed by Focus on the Family is shown to be a sinner (like all of us). These people are very happy to try to legislate their own version of morality for everyone else in the community, while failing to embrace it in their own lives. She has been pretty well reamed for voicing her opinion tho. To my knowledge Focus on the Family has never indicated that they are without sin.Or anyone they interview or "champion" That is a bit of a stretch That is a common statement by those that believe there is no sin except the sin of thinking something is wrong. Quote: As I mentioned before, Jesus' comment is typically pithy and accurate: "Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone". At least the Pharisees had the grace to hang their heads and walk away... That might be good advice for those "casting" a stone or two her way in this as well. By your reasoning you should not be offering a opinion on her morality or lack of it. She was asked a specific direct question, she answered in a considerate non-offensive manner. For that it should have been over and done with. He asked, she answered. Any other issue should be separate from that. It doesn't appear to be as the non-stone throwers seem to have a ample supply Unless you have reached the state of being able to cast the first stone Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. GreatLakesGramma Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 If that video was blackmail, there would have been no point in her giving in to it. It's already on the internet for anyone who wants, to see it. It's too bad, but so many young girls like her just don't seem to use their heads very well. She's not the first to have nude photos or videos of herself made public by an ex-boyfriend. There has been at least one suicide by a young lady who couldn't take the harassment any more. Moderators Bravus Posted November 8, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 8, 2009 The breaking of the contract *is* related to her answer, because she started doing anti-gay-marriage appearances rather than doing pageant appearances. As I said earlier, if it had stopped with her answer to the question, it would have been over, but she was embraced by, and embraced, the anti-gay-marriage bandwagon-riders, and that led to the second part of her breaking her contract. Dr. Shane Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I'm wondering if you and some others would be as eager to stand up for her and defend her actions if she hadn't spoken out on gay marriage The converse is also something we will never know. One can wonder if she had given the politically correct answer if anyone would have went trying to dig up dirt on her. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... No it isn't. The question was asked by a not to well meaning questioner before there was a problem anywhere. She answered the question put to her and she should not have offered an opinion.According to thisher answer should have been,"I have not lived a perfect life so I have no opinion" The questioner if I remember correctly did not stop with the answer to the question she was asked. Obviously you believe that a perfect life must be led to have an opinion and voice it. Many do think that. Only problem I see with that is a lot of opinions being voiced by critics of this young woman. Her breaking of contract had nothing to do with the question and the answer she gave. Her problem was stepping on the toes of what as become a protected species. Wonder what I should do with two Lesbian friends of mine that voice quite strongly they do not agree with the crusade for gay marriage and are totally opposed to gay couples having or adopting children. They really need to shut their mouth and refuse to have an opinion according to you. They are not perfect and don't claim to be. I know they have made mistakes in judgement in other area's of their lives so "sit down, shut up and do not voice an opinion" So,I am still asking which member on here has any right to voice an opinion or to answer a question put to them by another that calls for an opinion. Got a problem with Focus on The Family. Why?? Because they are not perfect and do not embrace the homosexual lifestyle? Shame on them Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 She's welcome to give her opinion on anything she likes. I haven't seen a copy of her contract so I can't address the specifics of what is in it. I would be surprised if a private home video violated her contract. If she hadn't ran into problems with the Pageant, I suspect the Pageant would have went after the ex-boyfriend or whoever released the video. The other photos with partial nudity were taken by a photographer while she was changing. She was not posing for the pictures and Donald Trump already stated those photos did not violate her contract. The missed appearances is something that was alleged and part of the law suit that has just been settled. She walked away without paying for her implants and with her legal fees paid for so apparently those alleged missed appearances were not too substantial. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Have you actually seen the photos? I have. They sure looked posed to me - all 15 of them. I saw edited photos, I didn't see ones with exposed nudity. Yes, they did look like she was posing. However she claimed that the photographer took them without authorization and at the time she made that claim, Donald Trump accepted that explanation. One thing is established, the photo shoot she was doing at the time those semi-nude shots were taken was not a porno shoot. For example, she may have been modeling clothing for a catalog or other form of advertising but she was not getting paid for nudity. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... GreatLakesGramma Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I saw edited photos, I didn't see ones with exposed nudity. I didn't either. The ones I saw had little stars covering what shouldn't have been showing. Nobody changes their clothes in the kind of positions she was in in those photos. However, it is possible that while she was posing, she wasn't aware that the top was gaping a little more than it was supposed to. Dr. Shane Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Carrie Prejean was on Hannity tonight and said making the tape was the biggest mistake of her life. She said she made the tape by herself and sent it to her boyfriend. She came off really well. She said that she is not going away and is not going to be hiding. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... GreatLakesGramma Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Good for her, admitting her mistake. I hope other teen girls will pay attention and learn from it. Seems they don't pay much attention when something like that happens. They think it won't happen to them. My son read that the frontal lobe, the part of the brain that provides the ability to comprehend consequences, does not fully develop until the age of around 24. This is why teens think they are invincible and take such stupid risks. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Dr. Shane Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 She said she was 17 when she made it so that would be the reason why the lawyers of various websites have advised them not to put it on the web. Websites that post it can be prosecuted for child porn. All things work together for good for those the love the Lord. Going into this whole thing Carrie Prejean was probably a lukewarm Christian like most are. I hope this has all served to draw her closer to the Lord and I hope the Christians that had been so supportive of her do not abandon her now when she needs them most. GreatLakesGramma Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I wonder if it's still on the website(s) where it was posted when it was first made public. On the page where I saw the photos, someone among those who commented said that they had seen the video, and posted a link. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Dr. Shane Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I haven't looked for it but I did read where three different websites had refused to post it because their legal council advised against it. If she was only 17 when it was made, that would explain why. It certainly can't be because it is too graphic. Some of the most offense stuff is on the web. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
