Moderators John317 Posted December 22, 2009 Moderators Posted December 22, 2009 To me, He is all things!!!!!!! Yes, I can agree that He is everything to us. And if not, should be. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
zeta1 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Every praying Christian, every person who has an encounter with God, must have a passionate concern for his or her brother or sister, his or her neighbor. To treat any one of these as if he were less than the child of God is to deny the validity of one's spiritual existence. Desmond Tutu Quote
zeta1 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Lost Christmas Why wait till Christmas time again is here? Why spend those precious hours in hectic ways Doing the things that you could do all year And let the noise of whirl of festival days Drown out the angel's song? Why not take time To lift the eyes to candles in the sky; To walk some silent night, while carols chime And hear the hush of wings brush softly by? Take time to mediate: to catch the spell Of childish trust, that simple faith you knew When love was everywhere, and all was well... The gift you lost may now come back to you. Seek not for Christmas in the busy mart But cradled somewhere in a trusting heart. Rachel Van Crème Quote

zeta1 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Thoughts for a new year You can tell that a new year is upon us. The newspapers are full of prognostications by a parade of pundits on every topic imaginable. It's no surprise. After all, many people would like some reassurance, something to enable them to see the familiar in the uncertain. So, at the beginning of the year, predictions are made. Some will come to pass. Others won't. Fortunately for those who get it wrong, there isn't the same test for accuracy for journalists that an Old Testament prophet would require. The nearest they will get to a public execution is the possibility that they may have their more embarrassing mistakes examined at length by their rivals in the following new year's article. Why do we do it? It's part of our make-up. We look for patterns in chaos. We see nightmarish creatures in the dark as children, and our fears give them form. We see twisting shapes in the fog and our minds automatically try to fill in the gaps; to make sense of nonsense. That's why we call out to a God of order in a world of chaos. We seek His comfort just as a baby reaches out to a face. So, what will the new year bring? Will it matter? Here is where self-interest distorts the picture. We may seek an anchor for our souls to give us stability - something firm to base our world-view on; but this is where we need to search our motives. Is it idle curiosity that drives us? A desire to live vicariously a lifestyle that we have neither the courage nor the resources to pursue? Given the rise of the cult of Celebrity in the West, this is one thing to consider. God does not empower us, just so that we can say, with a knowing wink, "I told you so," when disaster befalls our neighbour. Is it a desire to better ourselves at the expense of those around us? That special, secret knowledge would enable us to prosper while lesser souls perish around us? Or do we pray earnestly that God would bless us so that we can bless those around us - and mean it? Therefore, at the start of the year, perhaps it is just as wise to ask God to purify our motives, that we would use the insight that He gives us to bring about righteousness and justice,; as it is to pray for guidance as we seek to plan at the start of the year. ~Dave Hellam~ Quote

Guest Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. It is not a conclusive evidence that a man is a Christian because he manifests spiritual ecstasy under extraordinary circumstances. Holiness is not rapture: it is an entire surrender of the will to God; it is living by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God; it is doing the will of our heavenly Father; it is trusting God in trial, in darkness as well as in the light; it is walking by faith and not by sight; it is relying on God with unquestioning confidence, and resting in His love. {AA 51} Quote
Guest Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 1Pet 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: We do not go deep enough in our search for truth. Every soul who believes present truth will be brought where he will be required to give a reason of the hope that is in him. The people of God will be called upon to stand before kings, princes, rulers, and great men of the earth, and they must know that they do know what is truth. They must be converted men and women. God can teach you more in one moment by His Holy Spirit than you could learn from the great men of the earth. The universe is looking upon the controversy that is going on upon the earth. At an infinite cost, God has provided for every man an opportunity to know that which will make him wise unto salvation. How eagerly do angels look to see who will avail himself of this opportunity! When a message is presented to God’s people, they should not rise up in opposition to it; they should go to the Bible, comparing it with the law and the testimony, and if it does not bear this test, it is not true. God wants our minds to expand. He desires to put His grace upon us. We may have a feast of good things every day, for God can open the whole treasure of heaven to us. {OFC 317.3} Quote
zeta1 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Psalm 55:22 --- you really need to read this. 'Friends are God's way of taking care of us.' This was written by a Metro Denver Hospice Physician: I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die - I barely managed to coast into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck. It wouldn't even turn over.. Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the quickie mart building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay When I got there, it looked more like she had been overcome by sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her.. It was a nickel. At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat) , and the gas pump reading $4.95. I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help, and she just kept saying 'I don't want my kids to see me crying,' so we stood on the other side of the pump from her car. She said she was driving to California and that things were very hard for her right now. So I asked, 'And you were praying?' That made her back away from me a little, but I assured her I was not a crazy person and said, 'He heard you, and He sent me.' I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fueling, walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food, some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She gave the food to the kids in the car, who attacked it like wolves, and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little. She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City Her boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet. She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan. 1, and finally, in desperation, had called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years. They lived in California and said she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there. So she packed up everything she owned in the car. She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas, but not that they were going to live there. I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road. As I was walking over to my car, she said, 'So, are you like an angel or something?' This definitely made me cry. I said, 'Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people.' It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it started right away and got me home with no problem. I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check, but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong. Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings... Psalms 55:22 ' Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.' 'Father, I ask You to bless my children, grandchildren, friends, relatives and email buddies reading this right now..... Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace, In Jesus' precious name. Amen.' Quote
zeta1 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (I pray) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. zeta1 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 BEST POEM IN THE WORLD I was shocked, confused, bewildered As I entered Heaven's door, Not by the beauty of it all, Nor the lights or its decor.. But it was the folks in Heaven Who made me sputter and gasp-- The thieves, the liars, the sinners, The alcoholics and the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade Who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor Who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thought Was rotting away in hell, Was sitting pretty on cloud nine, Looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus , 'What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake. 'And why's everyone so quiet, So somber - give me a clue.' 'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock. No one thought they'd be seeing you.' JUDGE NOT. Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a mechanic or a car. Every saint has a PAST... Every sinner has a FUTURE? In Christ Jesus Quote
zeta1 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 LETTING IT GO! There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19] People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go. And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something.. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye.. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!! If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to...... LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ....... LET IT GO!!! If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth...... LET IT GO!!! If someone has angered you. LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge..... LET IT GO!!! If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction... .. LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents LET IT GO!!! If you have a bad attitude.... ... LET IT GO!!! If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...... LET IT GO!!! If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him......... LET IT GO!!! If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship. .... LET IT GO!!! If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves.. .... LET IT GO!!! If you're feeling depressed and stressed ............ LET IT GO!!! If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,' then you need to...... LET IT GO!!! 'The Battle is the Lord's!' ~T.D. zeta1 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person. I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day. I've learned... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right. I've learned…. That you should never say no to a gift from a child. I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way. I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with. I've learned....That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult. I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular. I've learned... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved. I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it. Quote
zeta1 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 JUST TO MAKE YOU SMILE!!!!! T.D. Jakes was returning to Texas after a speaking engagement. When his plane arrived, there was a limousine there to transport him to his home in Dallas . As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver. 'You know' he said, 'I am almost 50 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if drove it for a while?' The driver said, 'No problem. T.D. gets into the driver's seat and they head off down the highway. A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap. The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone. The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure. The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down he was surprised to see who was driving. He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor. He told the supervisor, 'I know we are supposed to enforce the law but I also know that important people are sometimes given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person.' 'The supervisor asked: 'Is it the governor?' The young trooper said, 'No he's more important than that.' The supervisor said, Oh, so it's the president.' The young trooper said, 'No, he's even more important than that.' The supervisor finally asked, ' Well then, who is it? The young trooper said, I think it's Jesus because he's got T. D. Jakes for a chauffeur!!!!! Quote
