zeta1 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks dgrimm, we all need a little humor in our lives. I have learned that there are those among us who have forgotten how to laugh out loud, that a smile is not an indication of weakness. I hope you enjoyed your 'Sabbath'. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 22, 2010 Members Posted February 22, 2010 KINGDOM The kingdom of God is a society of the best men, working for the best ends, according to the best methods. Its law is one work~Loyalty; its gospel one message~Love. If you know anything better, live for it; if not, in the name of God and of humanity, carry out Christ's plan. ~Henry Drummond~ Interesting quote by Henry Drummond who argued for evolution in a famous trial depicted in the movie "Inherit the Wind." He was played by Spencer Tracy. If you want to watch a good movie, watch this. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. zeta1 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Just to make you smile!!!!!!! Senior Church Moment A Preacher was explaining that he must move on to a larger congregation that could pay him more. There is a hush within the congregation. No one wants him to leave. Joe Smith, who owns several car dealerships in the city stands up and proclaims, "If the Preacher stays, I will provide him with a new Cadillac every year, and his wife with a Honda mini-van to transport their children!" The congregation sighs in relief, and applauds. Sam Brown, a successful entrepreneur and investor, stands and says, "If the Preacher will stay on here, I'll personally double his salary, and also establish a foundation to guarantee the college education of all his children! "More sighs and loud applause. Sadie Jones, age 88, stands and announces with a smile, "If the Preacher stays,I will give him sex!" There is total silence. The Preacher, blushing, asks her, "Mrs. Jones, whatever possessed you to say that?" Sadie's 90 year old husband Jake is now trying to hide, holding his forehead with the palm of his hand and shaking his head from side to side, while his wife replies, "Well, I just asked my husband how we could help, and he said, "Screw him!" Isn't senility wonderful? Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth!! Quote

Dr. Rich Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 zeta, did you notice the three groups of people that are with the Lamb in the verse you gave (Rev. 17:14)? These three groups are: The 144,000 who are the first fruits and the 'few' in Rev. 3:4, and are also the group called Philadelphia, and are also found in Rev. 14:1-5. They have become sealed prior to the time of trouble. The second group are the 5 wise virgins that the 144,000 wake up and all go to the marriage feast. The 5 foolish are those who were in the Kingdom of Heaven (SDA church) but refused to listen to the words from the 144,000 who were telling the truth (no lie found in their mouths) but since the message was different from what they learned from the woman found in Rev. 2:18-23, they refused to accept this message until it was too late for them. The third group are those who come out of the time of trouble because of the works and deeds of the 144k and the 5 wise virgins. These can be found in Revelation 7:9-15. And the fourth group are the dead who are raised at the first resurrection. Isn't this interesting? Quote
zeta1 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 On February 21, 2010 I was a victim of identify thief. This created all kinds of financial difficulty and frustrations. Fortunately and eventuality my funds were restored to my account. I felt "TOTALITY VIOLATED" . This may not be the 'right thread' for this message however, it is worth sharing. Identity theft can happen to anyone in hundreds of different ways. It's the fastest growing crime facing every citizen. Identity theft is a felony crime; however, police cannot help with your credit record or undo the damage that has been done. As the 2010 U.S. Census ramps up in March, you should be on the alert for potential scams. Con artists could use the event to acquire personal information that can lead to identity theft. Most Census forms will arrive in the mail March 15 to 17. Census workers will then go door-to-door from the end of April to July to households that didn't return the questionnaire. One thing to watch for is a form or person asking for a Social Security number and financial information, such as bank-account numbers. Another red flag: email. The Census Bureau won't contact you by email. And the form can't be completed online, says Census Bureau spokesman Michael Cook. Census takers will carry an ID badge with an expiration date and a Department of Commerce watermark. You also can request contact information for a supervisor or the local Census office for verification. Census takers are trained to do business outside the door, says Mr. Cook. So be wary of people trying to enter your home as well as anyone soliciting donations. To report a scam, contact your regional Census center, the Better Business Bureau and local law enforcement if necessary. You also can report fraudulent emails to ITSO.Fraud.Reporting@census.gov and fraudulent mail to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (postalinspectors.uspis.gov). BE BLESSED, BE SAFE. zeta. Quote

todd_vetter33 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Do you think that the study at this link is objective and impartial about trying to end the debate over what day and year the Crucifixion occurred? http://www.thedeathandresurection.com/pdf/the%20death%20and%20resurrection.pdf Does the author illustrate each historical reference as honestly as it can be portrayed based on what the actual words of each historical reference implies? Does the study speak according to the Laws of Moses and spirit of Prophecy that would bare witness to Jesus as the Son of God and Passover Lamb fulfilling all things in the Laws of Moses concerning him? Let me know what you think. Moderators Kevin H Posted April 12, 2010 Moderators Posted April 12, 2010 In Leviticus 23:9-14 talks about the Jewish feast of first fruits. It was celebrated every year on the Sunday morning after passover, very early Sunday morning just before sunrise. While we may not recognize it in the translations, the resurection naratives in the Gospel and Paul's talk about Jesus' resurection being the first fruits. I'm sorry, you can argue as much as you want to make it fit western thought, but the Bible is still an eastern book, and for centuries before the resurection, there was the feast that foreshadowed the resurection. It was a temple service not on Saturday, but on Sunday, The Sunday after passover, very early Sunday morning just before sunrise. Quote
zeta1 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 John begins this section of Scripture by saying, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Dr. Rich Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hey Overaged, ever read where Jesus said the only sign of Him being who He said He is was that He would be in the ground the same amount of time Jonah was in the giant fish? Three days AND three nights (72 hours) not just parts. And please tell me when the women had time to buy the spices between the time the put Him in the tomb and when they arrived while it was dark on OUR Saturday evening which would be their First day of the week? And please tell me IF Jesus was the "Passover Lamb" and died at the exact time the Priests were to kill the Passover Lamb, How in the world could Jesus eat the Passover meal with His disciples? But the main problem is that the Passover was on the 14th evening after the first New Moon (dark moon) and that day, according to your own computer data from NASA (look it up yourself), in the year Jesus died, was Wednesday. AS to being a child, Jesus said that we must be like children and what I believe He means is that children do not have prior understanding of history to get rid of in order to be taught new truth. I'm sorry Dr. Rich but your logic is too 20th century Greek thinking and divorced from the world and culture of the Bible. When you read the old myths they way they though of times was the same way. Events happened on parts of days and was considered the whole day and night. How in the world could Jesus both eat the passover meal with his disciples then died when the passover lamb was sacrificed? That is a very easy question. The Jews cellebrated 2 different passovers; one based on the temple and the other on groups such as the essenes and other anti temple groups. In both 30 and 31 AD The year Jesus died the Essenes celebrated passover on Tuesday and the Temple on Friday. Jesus had the last supper on the Essene passover (the disciples followed a man with a pot, it was Essene men who carried pots and Essenes would tend to have upper rooms that they allowed other Rabbis to have dinners with their disciples.) The last supper was Tuesday night, The arrest early Wednesday with Jewish inquiries, and Jesus was put in the prision for the mandatory 24 hours then on Thursday were more trials and starting trials with Pilate and to Herod and back to Pilate, beaten by the Romans while the soldiers played the king game then taken out to the cross Friday morning, put on the cross by 9:00 AM Friday, died at the time that the passoverlamb was killed at the Temple passover, put in the grave on the preperation day rested Sabbath, then early Sunday morning when at the temple the frist fruits offering was being offered, Jesus rose as our firstfruits from the dead. Dr. Rich Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Interesting understanding. Didn't you read somewhere that back then they did not consider someone dead unless they were in the grave for over three complete days? What about Lazarus? Quote
Moderators Kevin H Posted April 15, 2010 Moderators Posted April 15, 2010 Ok, you do know some of the culture, good. But you are imposing a requirement that was not needed for the death of Jesus. It did not matter if he died for a few seconds or for a few years (an exogesus of Daniel indicates that Daniel expected the Messiah to be dead for about 3 1/2 years then rise to bring about the end of the world; and this would have happened had Jesus been accepted) and on the one hand Jesus did not even need to die on the cross; if the angel did not streanthen Jesus to suffer more he would have died under the weight of sin in the garden and that would have been the atoning sacrifice. But God wanted it to be a public event and to also wanted to shake up people's misunderstandings of the Bible by their belief that if anyone hung on a tree that they could not be of God, and also wanted to show that there is no place so cursed that God will not come to be with us there. You need to include the rest of the culture. The ancient eastern thought conseps, how do other ancient writings understand time, the two different dates for Passover between two different Jewish groups allowing Jesus to celebrate one with his disciples and at the other die at the time of the passover lamb, and that the languages of all 3 gospels and also the writings of Paul indicate that Jesus rose on the feast of first fruits, which was always the Sunday morning after passover, early in the morning just before sunrise. And dispite your NASA reference, that the histories and archaeology says that the years that Jesus could have died the Essene passover was Tuesday and the Temple passover was Friday. And once again, we have the Jewish festival that foreshadowed the resurection held every year on the Sunday after Passover early Sunday morning just before sunrise. Are you saying that the feast was being held at the wrong time all those centuries? Quote
