Overaged Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 QR frame: One night the man unobtrusively slipped into the Tabernacle and remained in the back. The Pastor saw him standing away in the back and stepping down to the aisle, ran and embraced the transient – urine and refuse attaching – compelling him forward and bade the congregation welcome him. Sometimes, membership in this or that – is for exclusivity, expediency, and/or fiscal purposes. Tuppence. Thanks for sharing this. I will have more time on the weekend to say more; but I agree, that sometimes, we have a description in our mind of who should be "part of the Church," or "Who is fit for Church membership," yet, often, when someone finally meets one of these descriptions, it is too often the case where they are still not received by the Church. You have to be "one of them." Being baptized, and agreeing to the beliefs, does not always do it. One might wonder, well, is this person that lives on the street, whom I pictured above; is he "in Christ?" I think we all know what most would answer. Stay tuned for "the rest of the story..." PS One thing I would suggest is if you are following this week's Sabbath School Lesson, is that before stating who is fit for church membership, you review this lesson. Overaged Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 QR frame: Though filthy and smelling of his own urine and other unfortunate mishaps – the pastor was not deterred and would often come to the side of the Tabernacle to ask after his well-being and invite him to services. He was also encouraged to come inside for warmth whilst the choir practiced. The man consistently refused. The church of Jesus Christ is not a matter of fractals. All who are in Jesus Christ are His church. That would include many that have never heard the name Jesus Christ or who’ve ever been inside a ‘church’ building.
