Guest Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I imagine Shane's ties wear out pretty quick, having to carry such a heavy burden. Quote
olger Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I don't believe that wearing a necktie is a moral issue. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
SivartM Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I don't like ties. But I have to wear one for Pathfinders and funerals. Did you ever stop to think that when you wear a tie you are tying a rope around your neck? That ought to tell you something. Robert Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 slightly This thread reminds me of the one about the expensive cars that people buy and that the men ooh and ahh over out in the church parking lot. Good point....As my friend Jack says, "where you have self you have sin." What does that mean? Well, again, what is sin? I'll even use EGW: Our only definition of sin is that given in the word of God; it is "the transgression of the law;" it [sin] is the outworking of a principle at war with the great law of love [agape] which is the foundation of the divine government. [GC 492] Sins are the outward manifestation of sin (singular). Sin, not sins, is our "bent-to-self". As a result of the fall, man by very nature is spiritually “bent,” so that the driving force of his very nature is love of self. It is this condition that is the basis of all our sinning.... So the woman wearing that miniskirt is "bent-to-self". She covets attention and so she uses her sexual powers to get what she wants. And guys, that leather seat BMW...or that Harley motorcycle all decked out...or that Mustang with it's big 500 HP engine, what's up with that? Same principle....Just like the woman wearing that miniskirt to be noticed, we are doing the same thing in our cars...maybe even our homes, etc. So let's not just stop with "dress".... Quote
Woody Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Case in point: Rob ... as og stated ... the Bible tells us we are not suppose to sweat. So why do you post such pictures? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Case in point: Rob ... at least Richard has the forethought and tact to put a hubcap or two in the photo. I don't see any hubcaps in your picture. Btw ... do you know these chicks? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted February 15, 2010 Administrators Posted February 15, 2010 An observer at the recent motorcycle trade show here in Washington, DC noted that the scantily clad models were strangely ignored even by the predominantly male crowd ogling the bikes... I find myself understanding that biker crowd phenomenom... Hmmm... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted February 15, 2010 Administrators Posted February 15, 2010 Neckties function subliminally: They draw attention to the wearer. Just as necklaces are designed to draw attention to a woman's bosom, a tie is designed to draw attention to where the necktie points. And that's all I'm gonna say on that... That explains my dislike for ties. Being secure in my manhood, I seldom wear a tie anymore. I have no need to point out such things... [TIC] Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." WayneV Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I didn't meqn to say that hairbands or hair clips were somehow "bad", what I was meaning is that I have seen very elaborate (and probably) expensive hair clips, perhaps made out of gold for instance, on those who would oppose jewelry. I am 20 years old. I'm having a hard time formulating an opinion on how I feel about anything regarding modesty because it is largely subjective what people find modest or immodest. (example: in America miniskirts don't seem to be a big deal, but in Turkey and Egypt it's a horrible idea to wear those kinds of garments). Regarding jewelry the only thing that is clear to me is that expensiveness and wearing it for attention-getting is wrong. Beyond that, I cannot say, I await clear guidance from the holy spirit on this issue. If we fully devoted our time, talents, and treasures to fulfilling the Great Commission, these issues would probably be mute because; a) we wouldn't have time to pursue them, we wouldn't have the money to overspend for adornment in the first place, and c) our focus would be on Christ and His mission instead of on ourselves. However, as self-centered as we (yes, I include myself) are, these issues will be ever before us. I think it is very sad, don't you? Agape` Quote WayneV Just remember these words of warning, for they will come to pass all too soon: If you are ever flying through the desert and your canoe breaks down, remember that it takes three pancakes to lift the doghouse, because there ain't nary a bone in ice cream!

Men like miniskirts on women; men like bikinis on women; men like to see a lot of skin on women. Just take a look at the pictures being posted on this forum. You'll find lots of women's skin and the ones who comment on the photos are men. Men don't like modesty on women...that's the conclusion I've come to here. I wouldn't worry about the hair clips. I doubt any are 24 K gold. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.
