I saw part of a nature program on TV earlier this evening that really got me emotionally upset. A lone very hungry hyena got too close to a pride of lions feasting on their kill and they went after it. The sound the hyena made was heart/gut wrenching. Fortunately it got away. Whether it survived its wounds I don't know. How does this kind of nature show affect you? I had to turn it off. And I avoid many nature shows because I can't stand seeing one creature victimized to sustain the life of another. The whole creation certainly groans on account of man's rebellion!

Some of these 'nature' shows are to natural for me also. I think they need to be rated 'R'.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

When we were living in SoCal, we built our house on 3 acres on a hill which was out in the country before people from San Diego, LA, & Orange counties moved in. There were a lot of rabbits. I put in a lawn 3 different times, but the grass could not keep up with the nibbling of the rabbits and so the grass kept dying out on me. So I got a BB gun to keep them out. Rabbits must be one of the dumbest of God's creatures. Either the BB gun was not calibrated properly, or having glasses, or just plain being a poor shot, I keep missing my target! And the rabbit would just sit there shot after missed shot! I have tried shooting at a chipmunk and a squirrel; if you miss with the first shot you won't see them again. After my first 2 rabbit kills, I had to put the BB gun away after I saw the last jerking several minutes to death.

We enjoy nature shows too. However, I have been known to root for the prey to get away. We also think how neat it will be in the "Earth made new", when it really will be a game of chase or tag, and the outcome will be so very different.

There are a couple of video's on youtube, where it looks like the lions get a baby wildebeast, but then the herd somehow comes together and chases the lions off. I like those too.

Didn't God create animals that were 'prey' and animals that were 'predators'? Didn't God give a command for Man (humans) to take care of these animals? God gave us all of the animals for our own use. A deer is for food and clothing. Man is the highest on the food chain since he has tools (guns and bows) to harvest every animal in the world. I seriously doubt if sin had anything to do with animals killing and eating each other. God made them all, and a predator was made to kill and eat other animals. Look at the eyes on a predator, they are forward on the head so the distance can be calculated properly.

The eyes on prey are on the side so they can see what is going to eat them better. Humans are predators since they too have eyes in the front of their head.

It sounds like many out there would rather be like Cain and raise veggies and sacrifice them instead of animals.

I dislike watching videos of predatory animals going after their prey. What I really don't like are these "wild game reserves" that some people have set up where people can come in and shoot to kill stocked animals. I think that's sick.

Not something appreciated in housing developments, but a real 'varmint gun' like a .223 or 22/250 leads to a lot less jerking on the part of the shot rabbits...

(I'm generally pretty tender-hearted and don't like seeing animals killed - even rotten feral menaces like rabbits. Needs must sometimes, though.)

In the Holy Bible it points out that in the earth made new the lion would lie down with the lamb. Maybe the lion is just waiting until he gets a little hungrier?

Also it says that death is an enemy. Therefore God fashioned some animals with the enemies characteristics, at least for a time? And the reason is____?

The Bible also says "We shall know". What? That the God of love sometimes fashions or creates like the enemy of souls devises? And we would be able, as His saved, to relate to the side of Him that creates predators, how?

Please add as many scripture texts that reveal God as loving in the creation of predators as you are able. Or maybe you are only conjecturing that God is Deviser of death as a normal part of His eternal will.

Regards!! peace

Then if the prey keeps getting away, the hunter starves to death. It's a mess. Yeah, I'm praying the Earth-made-new will be a reality soon.

Was that God's original plan? Will it be His ultimate purpose in the New Earth? If that's the case, I would have no part of it.

If God made us predators and prey and I'm a predator then I guess Dr. Rich wouldn't mind me eating him.

I watched my cat die this morning and it wrenched my heart out. At least she was surrounded by her loving family who will forever miss the unconditional love she gave to us.

Death is our enemy. We brought it into the world when we chose sin over obedience. One day I hope we can all say "O Death, where is thy sting!"

Sorry to hear that Alex, it really rots when a treasured pet dies. I've had to put two dogs to sleep that was pretty hard to do. What is worse is watching someone hit your dog and just keep driving.

Even worse is when someone deliberately swerves to hit and kill your dog, who is sitting at the end of the driveway, NOT in the road at all. It's not nice either, when satanists in your neighborhood capture your cat and skin a circle around her leg to prepare her for sacrifice, before she escapes and comes home.

I understand. I shed tears for days when my 2 dogs died a year apart, especially the one I did not even have a chance to pet him good bye. When he got sick and I took him to the vet, the vet sounded very optimistic. Never saw him again.
