Members phkrause Posted April 10, 2010 Members Posted April 10, 2010 Wasn't Amazing Grace a written to a bar tune? Not sure where you got that info from! Here's a link for Amazing Grace; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazing_Grace pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
wayfinder Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 It was a melody that was sung by the inebriated, although the timing was much faster. The melody to U.S. national anthem was also a "pub" melody. Quote
pindoc Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Instant sex? Reminds me of the Woody Allen movie. The problem is? Oops, I didn't mean to write that. Yeah, that's the ticket. teehe Dancing in sanctuaries? Miriam danced in praise to God. It wasn't dirty dancing. Check out the Gaither's concert in Jerusalem, now there's real praise dance. I don't think so....YOu have your mind in a gutter a bit too often..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Â George Bernard Shaw Â
Outta Here Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Dancing is not always a "vertical expression of a horizontal desire"; nor is it most often a "vertical expresssion of a horizontal desire". Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted April 10, 2010 Moderators Posted April 10, 2010 Dancing, like pretty much everything else, is in the mind of the beholder. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Gerr Posted April 10, 2010 Author Moderators Posted April 10, 2010 I would say that from what it did to me personally, most dancing appeal to the flesh, not the loftier desires of man. Quote
olger Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Righto. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Woody Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I would say that from what it did to me personally, most dancing appeal to the flesh, not the loftier desires of man. philo Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I would say from what it did to me personally, skiing at all appeals to the flesh, not to the loftier desire of man : You just feel it, down the slope you are fully occupied with the balance, the bodily sensuality (yes, that`s it !) the bodily reactions, the speed, the cold air - - skiing is linked to alcohol consumption ("Skiwasser", "Jagatee", Kurvengeist") and promiscuity since the early sixties (!) (Oh, those skiing trainers !) I quit skiing when it got too dangerous for me because of more and more risks for injuries. I am in a very lively SDA church : Mission programs for children (successful), mission progams for youth (successful), mission programs for parents (successful) - - Just for the rooms for the post - communion service potluck we are guests in a closeby Catholic parish. On the billboards they have a lot of very up to date programs, be they spiritual or cultural. In November they begin with a preparation program for the parochys ball in Feruary : Polishing up the "classic" dances, training the opening polonaise and the inbetween quadrille (two traditional group dances since 1700 and the latter since 1850, this a sort of square dance). They do something together, they play together, they have fun together, they have indoor exercise (see nthis weeks SS) together - and this parish is not at all a center of licentiousness and promiscuity and binge drinking. Hmmmmm? Quote our of a part we take our knowledge, out of a part we prophesy ( I Cor 13 : 9 )
Narcah Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I could easily name a dozen people that waited until marriage. It's pretty commmon actually. And it leads to a much happier marriage, statistically speaking. Quote -Jason Youtube.com/narcah

TWNolan Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 This may seem like I am being a curious snob but, who here waited till marriage? I wish i had, but at least i married her. Quote there is no try

WayneV Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 TWNolan, Their culture did not have any awareness of "couples" dancing. Thus, they did not avoid it because it was sinful but because they had not thought of it yet! Agape` Quote WayneV Just remember these words of warning, for they will come to pass all too soon: If you are ever flying through the desert and your canoe breaks down, remember that it takes three pancakes to lift the doghouse, because there ain't nary a bone in ice cream!

LifeHiscost Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Dancing is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire, oG When learning the sales trade back in the sixties, there was a common expression for shaking hands with a customer, "pressing the flesh". Dancing gives the phrase new meaning, although who one is dancing with does not always fit the phrase above. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Anthony! Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Dancing is the best! What if I want to dance with my wife? Is that wrong? Or is it right? Can it be an expression of love? Believe me, when I want to make love to my wife, I do not have the Lord foremost in my mind, visualizing pictures of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane! I think the Lord can understand that! Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted April 18, 2010 Author Moderators Posted April 18, 2010 My wife and I occasionally dance at home. Quote
