Gods Law and Gods Love.

Are they the same thing?

His law is a transcript of His character. I have always understood this fact to be related to the text which says: "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul..."

I thought it would also be pertinent to show from scripture that God's law actually is not in opposition to His promises:

Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

I think it is also a transcript of "love".

Gods love communicated in ten simple precepts that we can receive and share.

The first four deal with love for God.

The second with love for mankind.

Which is essentially the same thing...

So the question I have now, for those that say they just need "love" now, not the Commandments (usually the fourth), how do you know if you are loving God, if you do not use the standard of the first Four as your measure?

When quoting any one of the ten commandments and asking ourselves would we like others to apply these to themselves when we're in their presence, it isn't difficult not only to see that each commandment exemplifies love, but each one exudes a sense of peace in its' application.

Only the 4th commandment turns men/women off as it is in direct opposition to the selfish nature of men/women demanding to have right without restrictions over their own life.

And if one refuses to accept the Authority of the Word, this promise below reveals no personal significance.

"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NASB

That is a valid but sad point.

It is easy to view the Sabbath as a restriction on time.

When it is true freedom of time.

But freedom to do what?

Freedom to walk with God without the cares and concerns of normal daily living hindering that time...

It is also strange how some want to remove any obligation of showing love to God by attacking those commands that deal with our relationship with Him.

They seem to think Gods love is all about them being free from the "inconvenience" of the Sabbath for instance.

Rather than Gods love enabling them to enjoy the blessed Sabbath.

The Sabbath is a period of time that is wrapped around communion with God, given as a gift to man.

To deny the Sabbath is to deny man the opportunity of the sweetest communion with God.

The Sabbath is an Oasis of Gods Love in the heat of the desert.

Why do so many insist that we should stay in the heat all the time?

I further consider that many treat the Sabbath as a "bind" on Israel, that "Christians" no longer have to indulge in...

That would make the Sabbath nothing but a "prison" for the Israelites of the past.

A God who commands His people to be Sabbath keeping, when Sabbath keeping is viewed as an unnecessary burden, is a God who places harsh burdens on them.

In fact, the whole argument that man was under another covenant in the past, is an argument that God was harsh in the past, but is merciful now...

Of course, I walk with God all week, as He enables me and as much as I rely on Him...

But the background noise just quietens down from a blaring cacophony to a gentle hum on the Sabbath...

No.

God's law was designed for fallen man. It was to makes matters worse so sinners would accept Christ. To be under law is to stand condemned.

God is agape. It's not an attribute of God, it's who He is. Agape goes far beyond the letter of the law.

Indeed, objectors to our church and beliefs will first come up with this an an answer to ones such as yourself who talk this way about Sabbath. Freedom to walk with God without the cares and concerns of normal daily living hindering that time...

That's not true at all. As a devout Catholic; I have my most "uninterupted communion" on Sundays. No other day of the week is such a blessing to me and my family. We feel so close to Jesus and His Church on this day; Saturday is just another business day and most weeks we are glad to see it end,

What do you mean a "special blessing," when you talk about the Sabbath? How do you notice anything different in God's blessing on Sabbath or on any other day of the week?

The Bible tells us that "the blessings of the Lord maketh rich; and He adds no sorrow to it." If God can bless what we are doing on Thursdays, then we will still be "rich." You can't answer just how you notice this "special blessing" on your Sabbath, as opposed to any other day of the week because this is all you have been taught to say; but do you know what you are saying?

Many people keep the Sabbath on Sunday, not realising it is actually Friday Sunset to Saturday Sunset.

I am sure they get the same blessing.

But I can only tell you my experience.

There is an extra special blessing of Gods presence on the Sabbath, maybe the lack of all the mundane helps me to sense Him more, or maybe, just maybe, it is a day when God reveals His presence more...

You are right in saying it is what I've been taught to say according to the Word.

"Say to the Israelites, Truly you shall keep My Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you [set you apart for Myself ]."Exodus 31:13 AMP

"And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. "Galatians 3:29 AMP

Can you say the same of the Sunday or any other day of the week besides the seventh day Sabbath? If one finds it of no worth to be set apart for God, then I can see where any other day of the week would be all that is needed.
