"' You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to observe the sabbath day." Deuteronomy 5:15 NASB

Of course, when one subscribes to the idea, they themselves have never been in Egypt (spiritual), it becomes difficult to grasp the freedom found in worshipping during the special hours our Father has designated to meet with His children.

Indeed, it is only when one has been delivered from Egypt that the freedom of the Sabbath becomes obvious.

But there is only one way to know that you have been freed from Egypt:

Exd 33:14 And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest.

In summary; what is the difference between a "special blessing today, as opposed to one on Sabbath? The issue is one of authority. God won't stop blessing someone who is in another Church; but the lines of His authority are always going to be the same. We have too often made the lines of God's authority into a list of what to do or not to do on Sabbath, but that has nothing to do with the battle over the Bible and over God's authority that is being played out in the great controversy, through the Sabbath, and other issues.

Your point makes more sense now.

So I will try to deepen my answer.

On the Sabbath, the sense of the Lords presence within, is often deeper, the sense of the Lord's presence at worship is often stronger.

That will only make sense to someone who understands what a sense of the Lord's presence is.

Mark :-)

Please forgive me; I am not trying to be difficult, I'm really not. But this is what i don't understand about Adventists talking like this about a "special Sabbath blessing." I would suggest that I received the same kind of blessing when I attended the bedside of a dying loved one, and led everyone through the experience, including prayer, etc. None of them were Christians; but I can name one of them who became one because of it all. The Lord's very special blessing and presence was there; and everyone, including non-churched all felt His presence, unmistakably. So again; what is this "special" blessing that some Adventists espouse? How is it different? Especially when we consider examples of how the Sabbath can feel like things other than "blessing?"

When a man first meets his future wife, he often chases after her with an enthusiasm that knows no bounds.

But then they get married, and now life gets in the way, always something to do, to worry about, something to stop that deep focus and sense of first love.

That is how the Sabbath is for me, God can remind me of my first love, because I am totally focused on Him, nothing to distract.

The rest of the week can often feel like married life, rather than first love life...

And it is my humble opinion, the IT applies to both faith and grace.

Indeed.

I recently studied out the meaning of "Grace" and it is directly linked to the work and presence of the Holy Spirit.

In fact, He is the "Spirit of Grace".

Hbr 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Then why, pray tell, are we still wandering on this earth? I was referring to spiritual Egypt, as I gathered Twilight was also.

"..he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."Romans 2:28,29 NKJV

It makes perfect sense of course.

God extends His Grace to us by extending His Presence to us and offering to place it "in" us.

The NT talks more about the Holy Spirits work than we even begin to realise. :-)

That was an interesting thought you had re the word "it" in reference to "grace" and "faith" I will have to think about that for a bit and look into it after work!

Robert; I enjoy your zeal for the scriptures, and how you have pointed us to various texts here. Sometimes we don't agree; but that's OK. Keep studying friend. surrender

Thank you for the text lfc :-)

Your welcome, Twilight. I'm supposing, as I heard one TV evangelist say recently, even when we disagree we can always benefit by disagreeing agreeably. After all, whether we're right or wrong, if it is not purposefully wrong, we have a loving Savior that makes it to work for righteousness.

"But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation."

Luke 6:49 NLT

"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive."Genesis 50:20 NKJV

No personal thrusts against any by this scripture. I'm just the messenger.

You misapply the scriptures to the topic at hand, and to people in this thread; which you have no Biblical right to do. You consider that being a "messenger?" Well, so do I, and the "message" is one that makes people sick.

I'm willing to abide by the Word.

"“If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector."Matthew 18:15-17 NLT

Don't be so self-righteous. Your comments were quite public in calling me anti-Christ. This kind of scripture-quoting is meaningless. It is an insult to Christianity.

Since the charges leveled are a matter of public record, you should have no problem bringing them to the front for verification that others might be able to determine the truthfulness of the charges.

"“You must not convict anyone of a crime on the testimony of only one witness. The facts of the case must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses." Deuteronomy 19:15 NLT

"But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’"Matthew 18:16 NKJV

Interesting that you should find the quoting of Scripture on a Christian forum entitled God's Law and God's Love, to be meaningless and an insult.

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39 KJV

I must admit, I am quite puzzled Overaged, that you think that LHC has labelled you as "antichrist"?

Are you sure you are reading his posts correctly?

Yes; I am quite sure, but I won't have this kind of argument with him or anyone else online. If people read back a bit here they will see where I posted a concern about being labeled as antichrist. This reminds me of the man I heard of in the news awhile back who quoted the verse from Thes "Greet one another with a Holy kiss" while he was incesting his little girl. Unfortunately, we have in the church people who quote scripture profusely, while hiding behind all manner of disgusting/judgmental behavior to others.

I have never got that sense from LHC's posts?

He writes in a spiritual manner, often stating some simple truths that could be mistaken for something else.

Maybe you should give him the benefit of my doubt?

Thank you, Twilight, for your defense. I recognize within myself, when my ire is aroused, it is very seldom based on the unselfish Spirit of Christ. Maybe Overaged sees within himself a righteous wrath I haven't been able to pick up.

Your patience in my defense draws another Scripture to my mind, especially when taking into consideration that, IMO, there are never evidences of the Spirit of Christ without direct intervention of the Holy Spirit, His presence more often than not clearly welcomed and invited into the life of the recipient, although even that can be modified as Jesus bases His influence in our lives by the potential He is aware of, as opposed to our present lack or righteous behavior.

"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31 NKJV

As to your charges, Overaged, we do share some common ground, though this might not meet your fancy either.

"“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword."

Matthew 10:34 NLT

We each have the right to choose the weapons we will pick up to fight the enemy of souls. I choose to pick up that which is assured by Gods' Spirit to bring fulfillment of God's purposes.

"And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God."

Ephesians 6:17 AMP

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

The Apostle Paul was a persecutor of the body of Christ before being knocked off his horse by Christ. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could see the same thing, obviously to a lesser degree, happen to me that we might see many brought to the kingdom, for the glory of God.

"For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence."1 Cor 1:26-29 NKJV

Hope your day's a good one. peace Sorry about yesterday.
