Job practiced the shedding of blood in sacrifices which were an object lesson of his trust in a coming Messiah, Whose blood washed away His sins. Therefore God saw Job as blameless,

I'll need evidence to prove your assertion.

I have no desire to prove anything to you, Robert. Nor has God ever asked me to prove His revelations to anyone.

[:"red"] "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." [/] John 7:17 KJV

However this Scripture may give a person some logic to the assertion.

[:"red"] "When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom. " [/]

Remember Christ's statement, "I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”... No...Christ simply meant that He didn't come to call the self-righteous, but sinners.

As long as those people were self-righteous they were still under the allusion they needed no repentance. Jesus was making effort to get them to recognize their need for a Savior, without which they would eventually perish and which many eventually did. The same principle exists today in all Christian society. Only some recognize their need of repentance, therefore it is not asked for as a gift of God received by grace.

[:"red"] "Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?" [/] Rom 2:4

[:"red"] "God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel." [/] Acts 5:31

[:"red"] "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." [/] Romans 3:19 KJV

Yeah. But the question is what did Elihu believe? Not what you or Ellen White believed. Elihu was mistaken. That's the point.

Whatever we might believe about Elihu's conclusions, God did not include him in His admonishment of the other three (Bildad, Zophar and Eliphaz), which would indicate to me the more correct position Elihu took toward Job.

[:"red"] "After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has."

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job's prayer. [/] Job 42:7,9

Well, that's at least grounded in the text itself. I'll have to look into that. At best, however, it is an argument from silence.

7After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 8So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” 9

Upon further examination, I'll say this. It appears your conclusion is possible. However, I believe it is unlikely. For not only is Elihu not admonished, neither is he commended, as Job is. His omission is curious. He may simply have been dismissed because of his youth. I don't know. But it would seem safe to say he was not correct, or God would have commended him.

Rob, I am amazed that you are taking Jesus's statement in its most extreme meaning which it could never be.
Do you understand Jesus to mean that He wants us to be as omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent as God? For in order to match His perfection, we have to have these same attributes!
A ridiculous notion, wouldn't you say?

Yes, a ridiculous notion on your account for the context says nothing of omniscience, etc. The context is about the spirit of the law! Read it again and again and again....

[:"blue"]Yes, I have read Mt 5 over & over again, and also your posts again & again. You take Mt 5:48 to mean that we are to be perfect to the SAME DEGREE as God is, and His perfection includes all His godly qualities of omniscience, omnipotence, & omnipresence, to which NO creature can ever attain. So, read EGW's comments again & again. [/]

Ellen White nor Matthew is talking about "His godly qualities of omniscience, omnipotence, & omnipresence" and you know it....

Look at the context:

Matt 5:20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Between verse 20 and 47, Christ expands on the letter of the law by comparing it to the spirit of the law. In verse 48 He makes this conclusion:

You, therefore, must be perfect, [how perfect?] as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Complete obedience is the only condition that meets the requirement of the law. “God is not a man, that He should lie.” God’s law is the rule of His government. He says, [:"red"]“This do, and thou shalt live.” But to the disobedient He says, “Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things written in the book of the law to do them.”[:"black"] “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” God has given the promise that those who obey His law will be rewarded, not only in the present life, but in the life to come. He declares just as decidedly that those who do not obey His requirements shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on them. By lips that never lie the obedient are blessed, and the disobedient are pronounced guilty.

And through the washing of the Word and the shed blood of Jesus, all who accept that gift are set in right standing wit the Father in heaven.

I agree Robert.

Job was "perfect" - at least closer to perfect than anyone else, but the LORD wanted to take him closer and He couldn't do that until Job realized that he needed a Savior.

So long as Job kept saying, "I don't deserve this," or "Look how righteous I am," the LORD could not reach into his heart.

Now - about the Big 10. I read them as a promise. The LORD said, "I will write my Law on their hearts." I am claiming that promise. HE will get the credit - not me.
