What converts a religious group into a "cult" or "hated setct"?

RLH,

You do need to do as I suggest so you can see how easily numbers can be used to make bogus claims about the Bible.

You will also see how often numerology can look authentic but really is not. Its just coincidence.

Such is the case in regard to Daniel chapter nine and the so-called year/day stuff. It is just coincidence and does not work anywhere else.

You are probably right Club about this not changing anything, but here are the bible texts that God gave to show us how He wanted us to reckon prophetic time.

After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, [even] forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, [even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. - Num

14:34 KJV

And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year. - Eze 4:6 KJV

Christ in you...Col 1:27

Those are the two primary verses, those who oppose the day/year principle know them well, and reject them consistently. Go figure....

Look carefully at those texts Jody. Neither one of those texts is making a blanket law to be applied to all situations.

Each of these texts is dealing with a very specific unique event and applies only to that unique event.

No year/day Principle just two separate unique events. God no where in these texts tells us to apply this to any other thing.

Such applications as you assert come from the fancy of human flawed devices.

If it is true that the CSDA Church has only three members, then does it make sense for the General Conference to invest $75,000 dollars to prosecute this case as has been alleged by people who know?

I suspect that what we have here is not a legal question but rather a moral one. In the parable of the two debtors, Jesus condemned the man who failed to show mercy towards the one who owed him an insignificant sum of money.

There was no question about his legal rights. He had the legal right to sent the poor man to jail, but he failed to show mercy in spite of the fact that he had been the recipient of mercy. This is where we have failed as a church, I believe!
