He had been reading from the words of Jeremiah and saw that the time for their captivity was over. What don't you understand about that? I have studied it for over 20 years my friend! Been in prison lately? If you don't show respect you don't get anywhere! We in the United States are prisoners of the government. If you don't understand read the law called "trading with the enemy". Dan. 1:1: "...Nebuchadnessar king of Babylon came to Jerusalemm and besieged it....." 3: "the king ordered ... the chief of his officials to bring in some of the sons of Israel..." Miz3, this proves that Daniel was a prisoner! Dan. 9:2: "In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of jeerusalem, namely, seventy years." Daniel 4:19. Notice that Daniel wants the bad things that are going to happen to Nebuchadnezzer to actually happen to king's enemies and adversaries. I believe that is loyalty. The king knew this which is why Daniel had risen to such a high position. Daniel definitely mixed what we today call "church and state". There is more! "Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom." Daniel 6:3. I guess Daniel must have showed loyalty to the government in order to rise to this level of government power. It says Daniel "distinguished himself among the administrators". There is more! "At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent." Daniel 6:4. Oh! This means they could find no disloyalty in Daniel against the government! If there had been even the slightest flaw in Daniel in this regard they would have found it but Scripture states that "no flaw existed". There is more! "When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him." Daniel 6:14. Oh! Was the king distressed because Daniel was a disloyal person. NO! The king was distressed because the king TRUSTED THE LOYALTY OF DANIEL! In fact the king so trusted Daniel's loyalty to the king that he tried every trick he could to get Daniel off. Daniel was trustworthy as we have seen because Daniel brought his "religion to the government place"! There is more! "At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” Daniel 6:19-20. WOW! The king knows about Daniel's God and points out how Daniel served God continually! Again, that means Daniel did not separate "church and state". Yet it is clear that Daniel was loyal to the government of Media/Persia. If Daniel was NOT LOYAL the king would not have gone to the extreme lengths that he did. There is more! "At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones." Daniel 6:24. Oh! The king did this because these people were loyal and Daniel was not. Come on Dr. Rich. I guess Daniel proves that a person can be Loyal to the GOVERNMENT and also be loyal to GOD at the same time! Quote

Do you have a reference that I can use to look this information up for myself? A magazine article? News story? I would like to share this information with my husband and our local high school guidance counselors. Thanks for any further information you can give me. Look at the bill you get from those attempting to collect on this debt and start your investigation there. Start calling everyone and make them verify (swear under oath) who the real creditor is. I will bet it is NOT the government even though they may gave guarenteed the loan. The law forbids the government from 'doing' business that privated corporations are doing for that would be an intentional interfereance upon private business. Quote

I am under the belief the Bible is God's message to the world's population as a whole, and the only ones excluded are those willingly rejecting the Word when God brings it to their attention by His Holy Spirit. All PELL Grants come from the Federal Treasury (that is from your tax money). The Federal Government is the only source for the PELL Grant! Your high school counselor should know that! If he doesn't then he better get started learning! Again, all PELL Grants come from the Federal Treasury. In fact, ALL FEDERAL AID COMES FROM THE THE FEDERAL (US) TREASURY! Quote

It is the same website I looked at earlier, and still, I don't see where it says exactly where the funds come from--it does say they are federal grants, however. I have found another article that talks about Pell grants being funded by the government and that they are mentioned in the federal budget. I have been trying to open the federal budget file, but it is taking a prohibitively long time. I am inclined to believe that they are funded by the federal government--both because it is what I have always believed, and because you have stated so (having worked with financial aid). However, because Dr. Rich also says that he's looked into where the funding comes from, I wanted "proof positive" via a source unrelated to this discussion. Nothing wrong with finding a third source, is there? Additionally, I don't recall having said that the high school counselor is unaware of the source for Pell grants. I believe I said something along the lines of, "If the money comes from some other source, and there is documentation supporting this claim, I would like to share it with both my husband and the high school counselors." As school is out of session until the middle of August, the discussion I will have with the counselors will have to wait a while. Quote

Since the bank-based loan program began in 1965, commercial banks like Sallie Mae and Nelnet have received guaranteed federal subsidies to lend money to students, with the government assuming nearly all the risk. Democrats have long denounced the program, saying it fattened the bottom line for banks at the expense of students and taxpayers. “Why are we paying people to lend the government’s money and then the government guarantees the loan and the government takes back the loan?” said Representative George Miller, Democrat of California and chairman of the Education and Labor Committee. Not every word found in the bible is the Word of God! One must put all of it to a test to see if it passes. That test is found in John 14:26 and 17:17-20. Any words that do not agree with these words are highly suspect. Thus, we rely on JESUS CHRIST for our SALVATION! We trust that what He did on the Cross takes care of everything for us! Thus, we rely on JESUS CHRIST for our SALVATION! We trust that what He did on the Cross takes care of everything for us! The Bible is God's gift to us so that we can "know Him" (God and Jesus Christ) and "understand Him" (God and Jesus Christ)! This is where you and I part ways. IT is the words of Jesus what is called the truth. It is the truth that sets one free from sin. Read those words for a change and then perhaps you will see the real truth. Quote
