Is Jesus really the Sun god?

This is one of the main themes of the book of Job.

How about putting those questions in the Lord's hands and saying that you will simply trust Him, because you know that He knows best?

Amen John.

I was just going to add that Isaiah calls God's destruction of the wicked his "strange act." I personally believe that those that were destroyed had passed the point of no return via committing the unpardonable sin and thus to further contain their influence, had to be destroyed to protect others. I don't doubt God had tears in His eyes when He had to commit His strange act. He may always have tears from this, He remembers everything.

I just finished reading the entire thread. Exhausting to say the very least of it but very interesting.

Notice these two statements when you read them together:

"The work of destruction is a 'strange work' to Him who is infinite in love." P.P.139.

"God's great and strange work is to redeem and save and thus repair the ruin that sin has made." 3 RH 583.

Is this another contradiction or just an apparent one? Wat is God's strange act, to destroy or to redeem and to save and thus to repair the ruin that sin has made? It can't be both.

"Satan is the destroyer." 6 T 388

"God destroys no man." C.O.L.85.

So then in the light of these two last statements, would it not be correct to say that the first statement I quoted above is not saying that God destroys but that the work of destruction, which is the work of Satan, is a strange work to Him?

Yet the Old Testament, according to many passages quoted by card and fcool on this thread, seems to teach the very opposite. Is this only an apparent contradiction or something that just can't be explained or that we will have to wait for the hereafter to understand?

"The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

This is what I call the "Mysterious ways clause." This allows Christians to take any contradiction or claim that makes no sense and place it beyond question.

What this tells us is that god isn't a very good editor of his own book. Or in other words; god isn't the source, men are.

What I can agree to is what ever people claim that god does is strange.

Here is a video that explains some of the parallels that Jesus and John the Baptist present with the Egyptian sun god motif.
