Dr. Shane Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Halloween is actually Hallow Mass. When I was in college our brass choir played this mass at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. That sounds really special. I hope they served coffee and pound cake afterward. While I disagree with them doctrinally, I have a lot of respect for dedicated Catholics. Dr. Shane Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Don't know exactly what gospel you're trying to spread, but it definitely has nothing to do with the gospels in the Bible. Carving a pumpkin, with a pagan symbol no less... OK, let me bring us all up to speed on reality. I live in 2011. I was born in 1969. The cross is a Christian symbol and has been as long as I have been alive. If I wear a ring with a cross on it, put a bumper sticker on my car with a cross on it or have a tombstone with a cross on it that identifies me as a Christian. All of my friends, neighbors and family will look at the cross and think of Christ. It doesn't matter what some dinosaur-fighting caveman did with the cross in ancient history. Nobody I interact with knows anything about dinosaur-fighting cavemen. Now I can shut off all my lights on Halloween and tell the world I am not one of them. Or I can let my light shine. I can sing and dance and throw a banquet. I can say, Come and look at what the Lord has done. That is what I choose to do. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 We don't normally have candy at our Halloween parties. We normally have a cookout, a back-yard potluck with all kinds of food and we play games like volleyball. Of course it is still warm down here in October. We start off with a little worship service that covers the Biblical teachings of the state of the dead. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators John317 Posted October 23, 2011 Moderators Posted October 23, 2011 Those are some great ideas for things to do, Shane. I like them. Sounds like lots of fun. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Up here in Canada, we would call that a bible study. lol... Quote FLOwww.Yah-Tube.com
