No,you were not stuck. If you could buy it out,you could either pay down on it or consolidate and take out a new loan at a cheaper, more reasonable rate

Once again you prove you know nothing about something you pretend to know something about. The fact you cannot admit that Obama did something good says more about you than it does about either Obama or myself.

Obama done good!

It is not a question of admitting. Admitting something would be because I believed I was wrong.

I simply do not believe in blaming others for mistakes or acts of carelessness on my part.I don't believe when I make them someone has to come along and bail me out.If someone offered with his own means that is one thing. Then I need to make a responsible choice as to whether or not it is wise to accept.

Many times on this forum you have expressed your opinion in such a way as to sound informed as to financial matters. You are college educated and I am not. You certainly should have seen over the past 12 years the insignificent amount you were paying on principal, just as I did. Most of us can cut back on what we believe to be essentials. There isn't anything special about the Shane's of this world that exempt them.

There is a little notice on all contracts, sometimes in very fine print, but it is right above where you are required to sign.It says that you have read and agreed/understand the terms.

I didn't pay attention to that once and it was a very costly mistake. Not deliberate, but all the same at the end of the day the responsibility was mine.

I failed to go over our income tax return, trusting to the tax preparer. He made a mistake. It ended up costing us over 5,000.00 in legal fees and prompted a Total Compliance Audit that took 18 months to resolve. The mistake was to the benefit of the IRS,which did not help at all.A professional that should have not made a mistake did,but it was my responsibility.

Your choice not to pay down your debt as long as you were/are employed.

The choice of your wife working or not to help provide for academy education is the choice the two of you have to make.Whatever your decision is should not be based on others helping to fill the void for able bodied parents.

I agree, Obama Has Done Good in selling some taxpayers to the highest bidder

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Well, I was a Republican when I signed those papers to begin with. That probably had a lot to do with the problem right there. I trusted banks and corporations too much and thought that Democrats and welfare recipients were the real enemies. When the college financial aid adviser presented the paperwork to me to sign, it never occurred to me that he might be in conspiracy with the banks to over-charge students on the interest on their loans. My Republican prejudices made me gullible to the banks.
