Sinful flesh

Romans 8:, reveals Christ's' then walk by His Spirit and no more by the flesh and so they don't continue in sin. Yes He forgives with true repentance and tells us, "go sin no more", and "Christ in you" His Spirit and we walk as He did.

Ro 8:1 ¶ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Ro 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Ro 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Ro 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Ro 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Ro 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Ro 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Ro 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Ro 8:10 ¶ And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Jesus is the second Adam, meaning to me that He had the moral nature of the unfallen Adam, but the weakened human nature of Adam's children. That's the mystery of the incarnation. And I don't pretend to understand it, but that's how it looks to me.

The prophet clearly states that this is not the case:

It would have been an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man’s nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden. But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by four thousand years of sin. Like every child of Adam He accepted the results of the working of the great law of heredity. What these results were is shown in the history of His earthly ancestors. He came with such a heredity to share our sorrows and temptations, and to give us the example of a sinless life. {CSA 6.7}

Notice how she points to Adam's innocence before sin, and then goes on to make the contrast, and point out that this is NOT the nature Jesus took. She is perfectly in line with, and expanding on what Hebrews 2:16,17 says.

Heb 2:16,17 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the nature of Abraham. Therefore in all things he had to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

The word "nature" in this context, does not pertain to how strong your body is.

The same prophet also said:

Since the fall of Adam, every child of his was/is born corrupt. ESV | ‎Ge 6:5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

BUT, the Good News is that you don't have to remain corrupt.

ESV | ‎Ro 7:24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? ‎25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

ESV | ‎Ro 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.

"Walking according to the flesh" = "Living in sin" = "continuing in sin". All of these phrases involve the CONSENT OF THE WILL. IOW, walking according to the flesh, living in sin, and continuing in sin, IS a conscious, willful, intentional decision, especially when the gospel invitation confronts such a person.

I am confronted every day with that and will remain confronted for the rest of my days.

Therefore my sin is gone and I am perfect in the sight of God. What I practice ... HE forgives. That is just the nature of God. "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy" (Proverbs 28:13).

"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels" (Revelation 3:7; 2:5).

The question is, What dead will put on incorruption? Answer, those of the first resurrection. Then who are these? Answer, those who have overcome sinning in this life by the indwelling Saviour, who in us all things are possible. It is those he can be sure sin will not rise up again in sin and rebellion. They have imbedded in their hearts and souls to always be of and for and with our God and Redeemer.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

We all are. That's why we need a constant abiding in Jesus, the only place of safety.

If overcoming sin is our salvation - you and I are going to Hell. Of course I've been told many times I'm going there. But I have the assurance of scripture that promises me otherwise.
