I assume you mean that the person especially annointed so that when they say something not in the bible, they are to be believed, is Ellen White and not Lysimachus ? That being the case, why did you not reply to my 'Ellen White' thread to explain how she is a greater authority than scripture ? Or did you, and I missed it ?

But, when asked, no-one claims that Spanish speaking churches in the US have members speaking in tongues. So, this is essentially a word game. There is no suggestion that the SDA would expect tongues to operate in any given SDA church on the basis of obeying 1 Cor 12-14.

You're dodging the points I make and saying a lot about what you believe. Jesus said that the devil cannot do miracles to fool people in to thinking that God has answered them. He can't cast out his own works. You didn't answer that, you ignored it, and told me your opinions, and Ellen White's. Bible only, please.

No healings by Satan today?

Let's not be so naive:

Quote:
On Saturday 11 June 1988, Maitreya miraculously appeared at an open-air prayer/healing meeting on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, and addressed the gathering of 6,000 people. Photographs taken at the scene were carried by major news media around the world including CNN and the BBC.

Job Mutungi, editor of The Kenya Times, witnessed the event and wrote: “The tall figure of a bare-footed, white-robed and bearded man appeared from nowhere and stood in the middle of the crowd ...” He spoke for around 18 minutes and many of those near him were completely healed. He then departed as mysteriously as he had appeared: “Several people who witnessed this were astonished by his mysterious disappearance,” wrote Mutungi.

I'm literally shaking and trembling for you right now, BibleOnly, because it just hit me like a ton of bricks that as long as you continue to believe there are no counterfeit miracles that Satan can produced, you will be DELUDED and DECEIVED by the False Christ--- it will be Lucifer in the last crowning drama act. And as he is performing miracles the world over, you WILL be deceived because you have willfully chosen to pervert the scriptures by limiting texts to only what it says and not ascertain its broader meaning.

Here is the official website concerning Maitreya:

A quick answer - I don't see how a healing from epilepsy would differ from the accounts of people being freed from demons in the NT. You seem to be saying that some people just get sick and some, the devil makes sick. If the devil gives me AIDS, will I still have the AIDS virus ? Can he kill the virus only if it's one of his trained ones ? How does that work ? I think this is all nonsense. I don't think the devil has power to make people sick and heal them. I don't think he has an army of demons and power equal to God. I don't think he rules hell. I think that's all a nonsense, and I think Jesus' point was, the devil cannot do good, because he is evil. And especially, he cannot act when people call on Jesus, leaving them with no means to differentiate between their answered prayers, and their faith in Jesus. There are accounts in the NT where the spoken name of Jesus was enough to drive out devils. Yet, you say the devil is hovering whenever I call on Jesus name.

Then you will be deceived. Simple as that. Numerous healings have taken place around the globe, but counterfeit at that. Yes, Satan can give you AIDS then take it away. Yes, Satan can kill the virus if he created it. Yes, that's how it works. No, it is not nonsense. Quit arguing. You are being deceived. It is not good the Devil is doing, but a counterfeit, that appears good. Sorcery appears "good" too, but it is not good.

You do NOT know this. Satan CAN COUNTERFEIT HEALING. I would URGE you to quit arguing this point. UUUUURRRRGEEEE YOU.

In the last great drama of deception, when you see healings all around you and yet continue to believe that all healings can only be real, you will be deceived. But thankfully, God's people who have chosen to not be so naive, and HEED the warnings from the prophet, and have accepted that "miracles", "signs", and "wonders" by Satan will manifest as HEALINGS (the number one sign and wonder and miracle) by the miraculous power of Satan, WILL NOT be deceived.

He didn't need to. Tongues obviously didn't continue through the Dark Ages. He said the Antichrist would continue all the way until the Second Coming too, and the Antichrist did not always have authority. Likewise, the gift might be available till the end, but nobody is receiving it. If the gift of tongues manifested itself in Paul's day, but then not again until just before the Second Coming, then it is correct o say that it will "continue till Jesus returns". But it does not mean that it will be manifested by all people till the end. Only that it is available. Spiritual darkness has prevented God from manifesting these gifts in God's people.

I hope you don't take offense to this BibleOnly, but I believe I have said enough. I'll let you think about the things I have said, and hope and pray that you will take them seriously and see the error of your ways. There is only so much one can say. I stayed up till 1:15am last night (my bed-time is 10:30) just to respond to you, and well, my family noticed that I have big bags under my eyes and they can tell I'm hurting my health lately. I will no longer abuse my body trying to refute you.

"Ephraim is joined to idols; Let him alone." (Hosea 4:17)

Farewell and God bless.

Well, I've already posted yesterday that I think this has gone to a logical conclusion. I am sorry to cost you sleep, it was not my intention. As I said in my post on the topic, if we'd met in real life, we'd have concluded there was a gulf between us and respectfully gone our ways, the issue is that the nature of a forum pushes us together over and over, so long as we both decide to participate here. That works fine if you're discussing recipes or gardening, but not if you both are convicted strongly of different gospels and different beliefs about God.
