Administrators Gail Posted January 23, 2012 Administrators Posted January 23, 2012 Last week it was Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, and today it's the break up announcement of Heidi Klum and Seal. These people, beautiful people worldliwise, now will undergo the pain of separation. Whenever I read of a jet-setting couple lasting 10 years or more, I think, "Good for them!" I know that the pressures on home and private life are humongous among the rich and famous. It's still very sad. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Naomi Posted January 23, 2012 Administrators Posted January 23, 2012 This may sound cold, but I always wonder if they were really committed in the first place. OTOH, over 50% of the marriages end in divorce so I suppose the same could be said of those ourside of show biz Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
M. T. Cross Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I think in showbiz, there are so many demands on peoples time, so many pressures, so much media lies and specualation its a miracle that any of them last more than a year. Example. When Tommy Lee was married to Pamela Anderson, he said one morning he got up and he and Pams Dad went outside their home to do something. This was at like 9 in the morning. They counted over 75 photographers hiding around the property. Those were just the ones they could see. That was a daily event for them. I know show people put themselves in the public eye but I think they should still be allowed to live their private lives. Quote
miz3 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 It is an unfortunate consequence of: 1. Easy divorce laws (not so when divorce laws were more stringent). 2. People tend to make their own judgment in such matters worth a whole lot more than God's Judgment in these same matters. Most do not even consult God at all. (some from ignorance, others who should know better) 3. Some would be divorced but stick it out in misery for various reasons (including but not limited to, children, religious compunctions, pride, don't think they have better options, etc. etc.) This is why so many people find themselves unsuited, unfit, etc. etc. for each other. The tragedy is infinitely compounded when children are involved. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted January 23, 2012 Author Administrators Posted January 23, 2012 I suppose, too, that in that world there is more of a chance of coming to the place where the parties are leading separate lives, many miles apart. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted January 23, 2012 Author Administrators Posted January 23, 2012 Also, there is not much chance in my office of women throwing themselves at the men, or vice versa. I imagine that the chances of that happening are better with a public life. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

miz3 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Women are always throwing themselves at pro athletes and poloticians. Talk about a "woman in every port". Or should I say, "women (mucho plural). Power/Sports syndrome. Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted January 24, 2012 Moderators Posted January 24, 2012 In particular, though, I imagine that J. Depp (if the three women in my household are any guide) and V. Paradis (if I'm any guide) might be tempted in these ways much more than most mortals... Quote Truth is important
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Author Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 Yeah, they are both HOT. That makes it even harder! Can't help but feel sorry for them... LOL But they are human like the rest of us and at the end of it all, what is it that really matters? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Bravus Posted January 24, 2012 Moderators Posted January 24, 2012 Aye, no doubt they are hurting and so are their kids. The ending of every marriage story is sad in one way or another... Quote Truth is important

M. T. Cross Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 As far as I knew the whole Johnny Depp thing was people guessing and speculating. I know Seal and Heidi Klum are tho. Or I know that Yahoo news tells me that. Woody you can have all of them!!! I have been with my wife for 22 years, and really see no reason to change that. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Author Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 I really admire stick-to-it-iveness- the commitment that makes even the hard times gone through worth the effort. LifeHiscost Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Quote: " I have been with my wife for 22 years, and really see no reason to change that." This scenario is pure and simple, a gift of God. Knowing many so-called normal people, there is no other answer that suffices. BTW, congratulations for revealing one of God's gifts. God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Author Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 As opposed to God's gift to women, right? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Yes, coming from a divorced home (when I was a kid) I can agree, the kids suffer tremendously. Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." I would like to approach that from a different view. While I agree that kids really suffer from divorce, there is no question, they also sometimes suffer badly with parents that stay together. I wanted nothing more as a kid than for my parents to get a divorce. They did not like each other, they had nothing in common and the tension between them was horrible. I got caught in the middle of that a lot. When I was 25 they finally split up. It really made me mad that they waited that long. So while I agree that couples should do whatever they can to save the marriage, I think it needs to be about more than "because of the kids". Quote
