Woody Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Not judging EC - as we are blessed to have you here : But from my view - it appears you are using your body as a billboard in order to draw attention to yourself. Notice I said it "appears". Now that does not mean that that is the way it is. You may have any number of intentions. But no matter what - you are loved. And you would be more than welcome in my church should you for some reason desire to open our door. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. M. T. Cross Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 ok Well since the whole thread started about judging people based on tattoos and piercings I thought I would share..... Quote

The majority of people that get tattoos (in the last decade or so) get them for 1 of three reasons. 1. They have a deep personal meaning 2. They like the art 3. All of the above. I would be number 3. Out of the 8 or so tattoos I have only one can be seen with any regularity at all. I make no effort to hide them, just their location is generally covered Quote

Woody Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I'd hate for a tattooed person accused of something have me on the jury. I'd like to say that I would be fair, but I wouldn't be unless God works a miracle in me. I suppose you wouldn't love this baby if it was yours ... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Members phkrause Posted June 21, 2012 Members Posted June 21, 2012 Obviously if the baby was his, it wouldn't have the tattoos. And besides the tats are fake. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

LifeHiscost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Sometimes it can be hard to see past the tatoos all over the face etc, the studs and piecing in every visible place, the huge holes in the ears, and see the hurting and empty person Jesus sees. Lord forgive me. And perhap equally as difficult, to see past the pharasaical arrogance that will not admit to being identical to the rest of humankind while only tolerating those they find themselves unable to control. Ditto,Lord, forgive me. God blesses Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Quote: I've got a confession to make. When I turned 60 years old, I had my left ear pierced. The kids and many of the adults of our congregation complemented me on it. Of course, I have been to other congregations where I have been rebuked and chastised for defacing my body. Guess which congregation I feel the love of Jesus in? When we get to the place where we think any way we dress or adorn ourselves will not hazard our entrance into the kingdom, it's doubtful we will feel the need of a savior enough to be asking Jesus to change us so that we will be able to fit into the narrow way. "“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way."Matt 7:13 NLT God bless! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Quote: I have never read a posting by you that is offesive or demeaning. That's awesome! I'm suspecting the story of Jesus walking through the entrance to the temple turning over the money tables and doing havoc is one seen as necessary to avoid for the sake of "feeling good". LifeHiscost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Quote: have become sober and healthy Chrisians without any pressure from the congregation. All we do is unconditionally accept and love all who come to our church just as they are. Part of our mission is saving the lost; and we have a church full of people who were once lost and now found (including myself). I am so blessed to be part of a congregation where all are accepted and healed by God! And how many of them would have achieved that enviable condition had they not some one who preached a "full" message? "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching."2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 The issue with looking to the Bible for a 'text' to bolster a view point, is that the context is quite often forgotten. We no longer 'speak' the language of the Bible, but try to use it in present day context. Principles are what the Bible is all about, in my opinion, so we need to study further than the 'text' in order to understand the issue being described. I believe that approach is the proper way to understanding the Bible and help us to wade through, what I call, 'text splatter'! Texts, out of context, can support opposite view points quite often. Therefor it is reasonable to assume this Word has no meaning on its' own. "For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out [from the spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by your Leader, the Lord Himself, and His word] with peace Isaiah 55:10-12 AMP Brackets their's LHC Nor this. "Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it." Psalm 119:140 ASB God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

However my thoughts toward those who have forced it into a life before it had the oportunity to choose for himself, with all the ramifications understood, reflects an unconscienceable disregard for the liberty to be free to make one's own choices, not too unlike the infanticide being perpetrated on multiplied millions of the unborn. JoeMo Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 LifeHisCost, Actions speak louder than words. The best "full message" sermons on earth are meaningless when preached to a group who don't heed it; and continue living a life of judgement, self-righteousness, and condemnation. James said it best when he said: " If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:16-17) What good is preaching that "You need to come to Christ just as you are" if we don't accept people until they are like us? Yes, people need the full message preached to them, but it means nothing unless we also live the full message. People won't put faith in what we say to them until and unless they know we have faith in them. People will have a hard time accepting us and our message unless we accept them first. Shunning them or rebuking them into submission to our "rules" does not accomplish that goal - only living the message of love will. Our lives of love may be the only Bible some people ever read. (LifeHisCost) When we get to the place where we think the way we dress or adorn ourselves determines our fitness for heaven, we are trapped in legalism. I'm not talking about the absurdities of going to church nearly nude or adorning ourselves with obscenity and blasphemy - that's rebellion. But is rejecting people who have ink or piercings what Christ would have us do? Is that what He did? Is it right to refuse baptism or church office to a person just because they have ink or piercings? How about because they wear jewelry? I don't think so. I have a piercing, and believe me - I feel the desperate need for a Savior 24/7. I am doomed without one. BTW - I take my piercing out (when I remember that I have one)if I am going somewhere where there is a possibility of offending or scandalizing someone. Quote
