I don't know what to say, except God help a society that allows this kind of practice. I am considering taking back my dogmatic "no exceptions" statements about what pastors should or shouldn't talk about. I can now see where abortion is concerned (at least the types discussed in the previous 3 posts), this could very well be a moral issue - or at the minimum an educational issue. Bonnie, I am so sorry for your traumatic experience! jasd, As much as it made my stomach hurt, I appreciate your graphic description. I have a new perspective on at least this issue...

It was but I had Dr's and a nursing staff that cared and gave him every chance,even when there wasn't any chance. We were warned of many physical and mental limitations he could experience. That tiny little infant "this famous person" described as a fetus or whatever you want to call it, developed into an amazing son,husband,father and highly successful man. What is impossible for me to understand,in MN I could not discard a sick and dying animal and let lay without help or putting it down.If reported,I would find myself in court over a puppy Everything you do is based on the choices you make. If it is the latter, I have a very difficult time believing that anyone would pass a law allowing that! But what do I know? Why would a pastor even need to preach against an atrocity like that? People who support something that twisted wouldn't even be in church. It's downright satanic! I had in mind the killing of born babies who surviced a saline abortion. When Obama was a senator in his home state, he voted against a law which would make it illegcal to kill such babies. You said: "People who support something that twisted wouldn't even be in church." Should Obama have been disfellowshipped from church membertship for this? You may not know that President Reagan signed a law requiring medical professionals to report such infanticide cases. Guess what happened! A judge ruled said presidential directive to be unconstitutional.

There's always Canada and Mexico; and "shady" people who will perform them anyhow. There will always be a market for a "product" that people desire. Sure! Said reasoning mimics what Dr. Edward Allred, who graduated from Loma Linda back in 1964 and later became the owner of over twenty abortion clinics in California, said when asked his reason for profiting from killing unborn babies. He said: "If I were to stop this business, women would go elsewhere for said service." And, believe it or not, but I have the testimony of two witnesses who heard Neal Wilson, a former president of the General Conference, publicly give the same answer as a reason for the Adventist involvement with the issue of abortion. The thinking seems to have been: The more unborn babies we kill, the more money we will have to preach the Gospel!
