Moderators LynnDel Posted December 15, 2012 Moderators Posted December 15, 2012 Interesting theory, Kevin H. I am not convinced. The only thing I know for sure is that the date of the birth of our Savior is not important; but that facts of His life, death, and resurrection are. LD Quote LD
Moderators Kevin H Posted December 15, 2012 Moderators Posted December 15, 2012 Exactly LynnDel. We have what is important. And tradition is very hard to give up. Since the historians in the 1700s told us how we got December 25, it has become an accepted part of our culture. But we need to continue to study and be fair to new evidence. But also this evidence is NOT the important stuff, the facts of his life death and resurrection are. This new evidence is only trivia on how we really got Dec. 25 and keeping our historical facts right and to not make statements based on outdated information. Quote
Gibs Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Windsor, It very well could be a prophecy as He our redeemer left His rightful home in Heaven to come and dwell in "booths". He had no place of His own here and the world was created by Him. Yes it is very fitting that He be born here the very first day of the feast. The Messianic Jew understands this better than us Gentiles. I believe there is indications we will be keeping the feast of tabernacles in the earth made new. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Moderators LynnDel Posted December 17, 2012 Moderators Posted December 17, 2012 When I say the date is not important, I am referring to the month and day. However, the year is important, since the fulfillment aligns with prophecy. LD Quote LD

Kountzer Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I still have these ambiguous feelings before or on christmas. I like the holiday, but I don't like anyone trying to sell me on it's religious significance. Still, I agree with church leaders who say that the holiday is a good time to raise up Christ. Any day is a good day for that, and Xmas is no exception. I used to get into debates about the pagan origins of Dec 25th. I try to stay away from such debates now. Hey, if my neighbors want to increase their electricity bill with decorations and xmas trees more power to them. Dec 25th is not that big of a deal to me.
