Administrators debbym Posted March 10, 2013 Administrators Posted March 10, 2013 I agree presenting Christ and our salvation through the sanctuary is a framework that seems to give importance and perspective to every vital truth we hold. i can never weary of studying the sanctuary. you have come to mount Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God, you have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn whose names are written in heaven, to the God the judge of all men, to the Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word then Abel's. seeing we have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken let us be thankful and so worship God with reverence and fear, for our God is a consuming fire. fear God and worship Him for the hour of His judgement is come. Quote deb Love awakens love. Let God be true and every man a liar.

Rev 12:17 (KJV) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Rev 19:10 (KJV) Woody did you ever read this in your bible ? "Nuff said" to quote a fellow member. Quote Sunday, a child of the Papacy, has taken the place of God's holy Sabbath. As Nebuchadnezzar made a golden image, and set it up to be worshiped by all, so Sunday is placed before the people to be regarded as sacred. This day bears not a vestige of sanctity, yet it is held up to be honored by all. {RH, April 27, 1911 par. 6}

BobRyan Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Praise God - Ellen White's message was for us to read the Bible and the Bible only. Ellen White often stated that some people would attribute statements to her - that she herself could not recognize - there is a non-quote of Ellen White above - that demonstrates her point perfectly. Thanks. (details matter) I guess the farther away you get from the material the easier it is to make stuff up about it. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." HopefulOne Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I do believe Ellen White said herself that we should read her writings for ourselves and not thru someone else. I will look for that quote tonight on my EG white "CD" Hope i find it because it is such a good point. Quote Sunday, a child of the Papacy, has taken the place of God's holy Sabbath. JoeMo Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Quote: I give up on woody.Really don,t know what the bigproblem is.Especially when he claims he is saved or a ciitzen of heaven,but then trivializes ellen white as if she is nothing. HO, I'm glad you're not God; He doesn't give up on anyone. Woody doesn't need me to defend him, so I won't. I will say I am pretty much in agreement with him, though. EGW is an amazing messenger from God who has many awesome revelations. But to give her writings the same authority as scripture is borders on blasphemy. I (and Woody, I think)give EGW's writings there proper authority. I believe that she even said she was a "lesser light". Woody never said EGW was "nothing"; all he said is that he takes the Bible as the ultimate authority. Why do so many take other people's words and twist them into things that they are not? Isn't that the devil's job? Back to the topic - the most important message we can give is the love of God. That means LOVE, not rebuke. We show love by our positive actions and words; not by our negative threats, rebukes, and judgements. I don't think telling people that they are going to hell if they don't believe exactly as I do is spreading the message of love. Quote
HopefulOne Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Gee joe, i am glad i am not God also. Woody makes it clear that Anything EG White says against his own personal convictions does not matter to him.He probably gets that from you and that is why you are in agreement. Birds of a feather flock together as the saying goes. No body is twisting anything.It is an ongoing pattern with him and i have him on ignore now.Problem solved!! Woody gives the impression that EG white has no real authority, It is his own fault if people get that impression of him. There are plenty of good people on this forum,and i am getting to know who they are,who love the "SOP" because it is from Jesus. One of the dangers of club adventist is that we have nominal liberal adventists mix in with the conservative.This will always be a problem until Jesus comes. BobRyan Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I saw that many were neglecting the preparation so needful, and were looking to the time of the “refreshing” and “latter rain” to fit them to stand in the day of the Lord, and to live in his sight. O, how many I saw in the time of trouble without a shelter! They had neglected the needful preparation, therefore they could not receive the refreshing that all must have to fit them to live in the sight of a holy God. Those who refuse to be hewed by the prophets, and do not purify their souls in obeying the whole truth, and are willing to believe that their condition is far better than it really is, will come up to the time of the falling of the plagues, and then see that they needed to be hewed and squared for the building... {ExV 58.3} Also in EW 71 Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." HopefulOne Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 -------------------- Pointing out the facts is not the same as being disrespectful. Any one who trivializes Ellen White to justify their lifestyle needs a good talking to. JoeMo Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Quote: Here's the next disagreement.... ) Everything in the Bible is salvational at some point I don't know joeb, There is so much leeway on how we can interpret the "good news". I tend to concentrate on the "saved by grace" message. Many on here tend to concentrate on the "obey or die" message. When I say "saved by grace, I don't mean "saved in our sin". I mean that overcoming sin is a RESULT of our salvation; not a PREREQUISITE for salvation. Quote

I think one of the most admirable things we can do is be ourselves. It is much more "true" to me to present ourselves as we are - faults and all - than it is to indulge in a contest of who can be the most "holy" and "self-righteous". Quote
HopefulOne Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Scripture: Proverbs 15:10. "Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die." "The office of a messenger whom God has chosen to send with reproofs and warnings, is strangely misunderstood at the present time. When reproof is given, the church members feel humiliated, as their real situation is revealed to them, which they were not able to discern. God in mercy sent them warnings and reproof because he loved them. He says, 'As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore and repent' (Revelation 3:19). Those who need reproof bring sorrow and grief upon the soul of him who must correct their errors; but though his message be painful to him, he dare not neglect his work. Those who deserve reproofs feel hurt under personal admonition. Pride is wounded, and Satan suggests that their mistakes and errors will be reported to others, and remarks will be made in reference to their mistaken course of action. It would be well for these individuals to realize that their defects are manifest to all, and the world measures them by that which they do. Not only this world beholds their course, but they are a spectacle to the angels of heaven. The heavenly host are looking upon every man, woman, and child, and they see the defects of their characters. Besides this, nothing is hid from God; our secret sins are in the light of His countenance." The Review and Herald, July 25, 1893. HopefulOne Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 God holds His people, as a body, responsible for the sins existing in individuals among them. If the leaders of the church neglect to diligently search out the sins which bring the displeasure of God upon the body, they become responsible for these sins. Really? How does that jive with the entire 18th chapter of Ezechiel which basically says over and over again: Quote: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. (Ezek. 18:4) Quote: Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.(Ezek. 18:19-20) Quote: When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.(Ekek. 18_26-28) This is the problem I have with EGW - people quoting her either out-of-context or without checking to see how the quotes they use jive with scripture. I have less of a problem with EGW's gift of prophecy than I do with how people use (or misuse) her. Quote
