CoAspen Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 What happened to her daughter? Always enjoyed conversation with DS. Forgot the name of the old forum where she was a regular contributer. Quote

Planey Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I am old and feeble and my memory is commensurate... But I faintly recall (I think...) that maybe Del Star's daughter posted here as well? Anyone else remember? Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ted Oplinger Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Quote: Thanks for the info Greg. I've been a member since '00. So I probably do know her, but I have no idea who it is. She wrote under the penname of Del Star. I remember Del Star. While we crossed paths in posting, I don't recall cross words in her replies. What I do recall is with kindness. Glad we (as a whole) could be the ministry of Christ to her a physical church couldn't...or wouldn't...be. I think Resurrection Morning will be a wonderful event for her. Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan

I just can't remember her daughter's nom de plume...though if someone said, I'd probably recognize it. LifeHiscost Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 There was a big grin after my comment about Clifford Goldstein: it was meant to be a gentle and humorous dig, not a condemnation. I disagree with him on a number of points but have considerable respect for both his faith and his intellect. It would be interesting to know what you think of Walter Veight. God cares! LifeHiscost Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Re: post #618523 I sometimes wonder if anyone can say anything is true and still be considered less than flakey. But then that was considered of Jesus, not an unenviable characteristic. God cares! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 One of the reasons many in the world put on a facade is because they feel it more important to make sure no one's feelings are hurt for which there might be retaliation, as opposed to implying, better to reveal the possibility of danger ahead for which lives could be lost for eternity. "..looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled" Hebrews 12:15 NKJV God cares! LifeHiscost Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Quote: faith stretched, and our natural fallen nature shine through I think that pretty much sums it all up. Unless of course we could draw attention to the fact that we (all) often stumble and fall under satan's assaults, the more reason to confess daily of our shortcomings lest we fail of receiving the continuous cleansing through the blood of Jesus. "For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body."James 3:2 NKJV God cares! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

JoeMo Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Probably getting in this discussion late. I was a big fan of Clifford Goldstein for many years - especially when he was editor of "Libery" magazine. I heard him speak several times and even broker bread a couple times with the man. He is WAY smart and a great writer. He walks his talk; and I admire that. I also think he is full of himself and very proud of his intellectual prowess. He can sound like he is being condescending or intimidating. I'm not saying that's all bad; I'm sure some of it has to do with the confidence he has in his faith and education. I haven't read anything by him or seen him on the speaker's circuit lately - at least around Colorado. If he came here, I would probably go see him again, even though he is much more theologically conservative than I am. BTW, I don't buy that Jesuits have infiltrated the highest levels of Adventism. IMO, there are plenty of other larger and more influential denominations than Adventism to infiltrate (Mormonism, JW's, reformed Catholics). There simply aren't enough Jesuits to go around. Quote
